ADVANCED SYSTEMS
- Griet-II self-sealing hypermatter tanks (allows to avoid leaks of hypermatter even when the tank itself sustained damage)
- Kirishima cap drains (allows to take ion/EMP fire to recharge the ship's shields)
Strengths:
- Omnidirectional firepower: due to the mostly-pancake hull and missile firepower, all of the firepower can be fired in any direction
- Can resist ion/EMP fire
- Flexible ordnance
- Limited ammunition: once the ammunition magazines are depleted, the ship's firepower is significantly reduced
- Hammerhead: the prow is where the missile launchers are, and a lucky shot at the prow can cripple the ship's firepower, and maybe even the ship overall
- Slow and ponderous
- Tensor field generator failures must be repaired in orbit
- ERA only makes the resulting explosion worse, increasing the blast radius, indiscriminately threatening objects within point-defense range of it when the ship is destroyed, and the threat diminishes the further away one is from the ship's explosion
Fighter support capability was added, allowing it to carry two squadrons of fighters in the lower decks of the prow. In addition, the hypermatter tanks were refitted with a new self-sealing variety, while new cap drains were added, with the ability to help recharge shields after taking ion fire, albeit with a less-than-perfect efficiency. Additional point-defense emplacements were added to alleviate the threats from fighters, while a missile deactivation transmitter is installed to help cause premature detonations to incoming enemy missiles. And also, to help carry the fighters and missile launchers, sacrfices had to be made, and engines took a downsizing. It also required the removal of a large number of conventional hardpoints.
Finally, while the experience of ERA-equipped ships on Skor proved that killing an ERA-equipped ship with ordnance onboard could, in fact, create a massive explosion, thanks to the explosives lining the hull detonating upon the ship's death, its ability to help defend against projectile-borne attacks was, in fact, welcomed.
