Secrets of the Jedi

Koran looked at the two men in the hut, and wondered if his plan may be too ambitious after all...

One of them was a humanoid missing a arm, sporting a neat set of weapons. ( Sy' Lanat Sy' Lanat ) , the other being your classic hired gun ( Nichos Velt Nichos Velt ).

Too late to turn back now he thought, and motioned to the table in front of him where a plan of a cruiser was shown, and started talking.

"As you two may know, you are here to help me infiltrate a cruiser. I said this will be a stealth mission, but considering our numbers I decided to change the plan a bit, if you don't mind. The plan is simple, one of you will board it with me and we will pretend to be mercenaries looking for work, but we will instead make our way to the bridge.

It is a Arquitens class light cruiser that they salvaged, it isn't big, but we will be outnumbered. This is why the third person has the task of using a fighter to destroy the halls here, here, and here, blocking off reinforcements to the bridge. He will then flee, and the two of us will breach the bridge take the intel, and warp out of there.

Any questions or suggestions?"

Sy' gave a wide grin as the description of the mission came out. There certainly had been a change in plan, not that the Chiss was complaining. They were still in the early planning phases, which meant that the entire operation was more malleable, rather than attempting to adjust the plan on the job. He was surprised at the audacity of the plan. To hijack an entire cruiser with a two-man team. Either incredible confidence or stupidity. Only time would tell, and Sy' wasn't too worried. He'd spent enough time behind bars to be comfortable enough at the prospect.

We'll need a good pilot for the fighter. And the away team will need to handle the shields. The blue-skinned humanoid raised a hand, his red eyes flashing his lightheartedness at the gesture, and queried, "Any ideas about how the fighter will penetrate the cruiser's shields? I bet they'll have repaired those for the travel. Might be something the boarding party can take of once on the bridge? If you can capture the bridge, enable the lockdown, and overload everything but the engines and hyperdrive, that would give you more time to make the jump and escape on the other end. Do we know if there will be an escort for this ship? Fighters or maybe even another cruiser?"

Honestly, there was more comfort to be found behind a scope and with several hundred meters between the shooter and target, especially compared to the close quarters combat expected in this mission. Sy' was not entirely fond of the idea of being brought into melee range of his enemies. But then again, at least on the ground he had more control of his fate than in a starfighter. He glanced to the other companion, Is he any good at piloting? Behind the stick would be rather odd, but shooting out some hallways wouldn't take too much skill. I hope...

"Well, my sources say that the cruiser isn't in a great state... if the shields do end up being active, we will simply use charges for the halls instead. It will be way harder, but doable. We could also just leave."

Koran looked at the two mercenaries, seeing that Sy' Lanat Sy' Lanat was rather obviously doubting the whole thing.

"I understand if you two have your doubts, but I do believe we can do this. The meele combat shouldn't be a issue, considering my sabers, and the fact that we will cut-off reinforcements, the only issue is the whole shield thing, though if my sources are correct it won't even be a issue. If you want to leave, do so now, and I won't mind."

( Sy' Lanat Sy' Lanat , Nichos Velt Nichos Velt )

Sy' stroked his chin thoughtfully as he listened. He sucked his teeth as he replied with a slow tense voice, "Sounds fine to me. I've no problems with figuring this out."

The Chiss rolled his shoulders, one merely a stump raising slightly in an attempt to follow the action of the opposite side, as he continued, "Hey, ironing out the details is part of a good job. Sure, we could race in with this outline and we'd probably make it, but the costs may be higher than if we take just a little extra time to plan eh. We made it this far, that's a good start for a job, most don't get past the concept phase, but it's clear you've outlined a decent proposal and prepared a couple of contingencies. I'm in, don't doubt it. I just like to have plans prepared in case things go sideways." The gloved right hand tentatively rubbed the empty socket where his left arm should have been.

Leaning on one leg, his arm fell back to his side and a large grin passed over his face as he changed the subject, "Now, we have charges for the halls in case fighter support doesn't work out. What about the bridge crew? We keepin' them hostage or just blasting 'em on the spot? And the ship itself. Once we get the data, we going to scuttle it or try and keep it?" It wasn't a huge ship, Sy' bet they could clear out most of the crew with a few gas mines in the vents or even atmosphere venting once they were clean away. Aside from the fact it was a starship, and starships were gold in the galaxy that needed them for transportation, Sy' liked the idea of potentially selling it for an extra paycheck. Of course, the discussion of cuts was an important topic, indeed it was too important to be forgotten. Yet the Chiss decided it could wait, certainly, the details could be decided during the mission if need be.

"Jedi stuff huh?"
Nichos arrived at the meeting point apparently being the last one to arrive. If there was one thing that Nichos was good at was arriving on time for a job, UNICOM pretty much instilled that discipline in him. Nichos had to admit he didn't have a high opinion of the Jedi, he still harbored harsh memories of them leading troops to attack his village when he was a child. There were soldiers everywhere killing everything and everyone in sight and the fact that they had a bombing run reducing the stragglers including his parents to shreds. It was probably the beginning of Nichos' rage issues being helpless to save his parents. Who the frack the Jedi were? A bunch of self righteous morons who think they're doing the right thing by killing innocents and scarring a kid?! If they're noble, give him a Sith but then again if people thought Nichos was crazy then the Sith well.....
"I suggest we just blast them all," Nichos shrugged. "Save the us from having anyone trying to pry from us but hey I'm not the one giving the credits out so is up to the boss."

"When it comes to the crew, do what you want. I personally think we should stun them, but I don't see a issue with blasting them if they turn out to be a problem. Once we got the data, the jobs over, I will leave and you do whatever you want. Take the whole ship if you want, but do it after I leave the ship."

Koran felt massive relief that both Sy' Lanat Sy' Lanat and Nichos Velt Nichos Velt were both in, considering that his plan was pretty bold all things considered.

He could also sense some negative emotions from one of the men, but decided not to mention them for now.

"So, with that settled, who will be the pilot?"

(I understand you two not being online in a while, no biggie, I myself had some things to take care of too.)

Sy' nodded thoughtfully as he considered. Certainly killing the crew would make things simpler, however, it might also invite retaliation. Generally, governments did not take well to piracy aimed at them, murdering the crew of hijacked ships was considered worse and tended to lead to more public outcry. It was a lesson the mercenary had learned on Hoth of all places. That was some time ago, but that's something for another time.

When asked about piloting, The Chiss waited a moment, weighing his options. On one hand, I'll be flying a starship, haven't done that in a while... On the other, I'll probably be a little more confident in a ground skirmish, though ship-ground combat is really nasty. Lots of kill zones and bottlenecks. A slanted grin broke out across his face as the words left his mouth, "I guess I'll give it a shot eh." Guess we'll see if the old muscles still got it, heh.

Nichos groaned when Koran mentioned who would be flying the starship bad memories of his ship being destroyed by an IG-88 hunter droid attempting to steal his bounty resurfaced. "Hey if the Chiss wants pilot the ship," he shrugged. "Let him not really familiar with the design."
He inspected Red Menace making sure it was in top condition, a bounty hunter must always keep their weapons and armor at high quality. A huge chunk of Nichos' pay is making sure that his weapon and armor are maintained. If a Bounty Hunter has just one malfunction it can spell doom for them in a bounty. "If you want to stun then stun," Nichos said to Koran. "But I prefer killing them all, can't divulge information about our whereabouts if you're a corpse."
Nichos prefers the more efficient route, taking out a target and making sure everything is intact but this is a heist of some kind and lot of credits are involved. If some rival finds out about this than they won't rest until the three of them are dead. "So are we going to head out?" Nichos asked placing Red Menace in his holster.

"Alright then, the only thing left to discuss is your pay."

Koran grabbed two little bags from his cloak and put it one the table.

"There is 5000 credits in both of these, I will give you both another 5000 once the job is done. Unless you want to bargain that is."

Sy' Lanat Sy' Lanat Nichos Velt Nichos Velt

Ah, ten thousand credits. Remember a time when you were working for hundreds of thousands. Eh, what you gonna do? Gotta make a living where you can. Sy' repressed a sigh as he tried to cheer himself up, Maybe that ship will be worth a pretty penny... Then again, might be good for a job or two. I'm sure we can figure something out. His eyes flicked to Nichos, Wonder if he's used to bigger payouts.

The Chiss gave a strained smile as he replied, "Ten thousand is no small sum... However, I think given the danger involved in this mission, it might be worth something a little more than just ten thousand. We have no guarantee you won't just leave us high and dry after you get what you want. Attacking a ship of this size, even one with a only a skeleton crew and minimal defenses is a task usually given to a larger strike team, not a duo. have no doubts about our success, but I do think we may be slightly undercompensated for our mutual efforts."

Sy' allowed his words to sink in for a moment before continuing, "How much will you be taking away with that piece of info you're looking for? Surely the buyer is offering a not inconsiderable fortune for it." Maybe that will strike a nerve.

Koran waited for a reaction, and soon got one. It was obvious that he would have to bargain, he could try to use the force but he knew its way too risky.

He did have a good amount of credits that he kept in a case of emergency, but had hopped it wouldn't come to that.

Just as he was about to make a offer, he heard the mercenary ask him about what he will earn from this, Koran felt a bit offended by this. Isn't it known that mercs should do what you tell them, and not ask questions? He decided to keep quiet about it though, no need to escalate the situation.

"I'm getting this information for personal use on a... project of mine, so I'm not getting any credits for this. Now, how much do you want?"

Ten thousand was way below Nichos' pay grade but then again it wasn't like there was many bounty hunting contracts available and besides credits were credits and ten thousand wasn't quite small enough to make him say no. "Ten thousand credits then," Nichos said wiping the dust that was landing on the beskar plated parts of his armor. "Less than my usual rate but think of this as me taking a discount."
Nichos frowned. "A very generous discount," he growled. "So this Jedi treasure you got better be worth something in the black market. If it ain't well it won't be me you'll be pissing off it'll be the Hutts."
The Hutt Cartel all but control the major sectors of the black markets, those slimy slugs may be cruel and lust filled slugs but they hate being double crossed. Nichos knew that much remembering the time he took a valuable item from one the lesser Hutts after she short changed him on a Bounty. To say it took months to get rid of the bounty off his head would be an understatement.
"Unless you want to quintuple the price," Nichos said a smirk forming on his face. "I might be motivated to fight these assholes off for you."

Well, right on target. Sy' could tell at least some degree of a kindred spirit in Nichos. If nothing else, they both had standards as far as price for their labors, and he had enough sense to not jump at the first offer. Only a very select few employers were worth not haggling over, and the majority of those were governments with rather aggressive or authoritarian backgrounds. Sy' personally liked to deal with individuals or smaller organizations, they tended to be more flexible with payment.

The Chiss was not the greedy sort, indeed he had run a freebie on occasion. Right now wasn't one of those times though. He had a tab, several tabs, in fact, he needed to pay off, not to mention the mechanic he still owed for using his equipment... and there were the gang debts he still owed. He hadn't really planned on paying all of them, he would prioritize at his favorite watering holes and work his way from there. He was about to make the suggestion that the Koran double his offer and he would owe Sy' and Nichos for something else.

That idea died in his mind as their employer gave an offer far higher than anything Sy' would have suggested. "One hundred thousand credits? Each? You sure?" That was quite high and Sy' didn't exactly want to bankrupt the guy, that sort of behavior tended to lead to bounty hunters being hired to chase him down. Not that the mercenary was going to turn down such a generous offer mind, but Sy' was not a fool. Such a sudden jump in wage was also a sign of deception. For a singular individual with only a personal reason to hunt down this info to jump to ten times the initial offer suggested that the person was one of two things. Desperate or lying, maybe a bit of both Either way, I'm in. Always did like a sentient willing to try a lie. Maybe because it gives me a reason to hunt them down later.

"Well, I find this information very, very valuable. It doesn't have any value on the black market, but it matters to me for some personal reasons. I'd do anything to get it. I also have a lot of cash saved up, since I rarely buy anything. So, any more questions?"

Koran then turned around and opened a case, taking out a bunch of credits.

"There is 100.000 credits on the table. Both of you take half, and I'll give you the rest when we are done."

A smile lit up on Nichos' face when Koran said that the price 50,000 creds. "Well that's the minimum I charge on jobs! I'll take it then plus I get first dibs on looting the corpses!" Might as well find a way to supplement this meager income. The Bounty Hunter got up and stretched. "So payment has been decided!" he said. "So when are we going to begin the attack?"

It seems our 'friend' here was already planning for a negotiation on the price. Sy' revealed a row of white teeth as he grinned. "I say we get going, no reason to delay."

He carefully lifted a rifle from beside him. Of course, I guess I won't be using you much today eh. Ah well, sometimes you've got to get out from behind the scope, see some of those stars. Hope the ship has shields, last time I got paid to fly something it was little more than a space speeder. "Let me get a look at the fine vessel I'll be flying? And how long should I wait before following you guys?"

"Wasted time means wasted credits and I ain't the one who wastes creds!" The Bounty Hunter turned to the Chiss and shrugged. "I'm right behind you," he said. "If any of those assholes tries to get a bead on ya I'll melt their faces off."

Koran smiled. He was getting somewhere, and he was ecstatic because of it.

"The vessel is a old one-seat Y-Wing armed to the teeth. As I said, the shields would likely be disabled, so you just need to drop your payload where I showed you to. As for the timings, follow us closely, and get away when we near the ship, and keep following it from far away. I will send you a signal when its time to strike."
