Seeking New Landscapes, Finding New Eyes [Yula]

He doubted there was ever a time in which he could say that he was truly at peace than in this moment. Everything in the world was set right simply because nothing else existed but them here in this moment and in this place, this pocket of Averlorn that belonged to them. The past seemed so distant, so inconsequential that only the future was bright on his horizon and it all stemmed from this place, from this person laying next to him under the cloaks warm and soft. Vik felt her stirring against his body, the tickle of her long dark hair against his skin as her head shifted, with her eyes gazing up into his.

He only had strength enough to muster a smile. A perfect moment he did not wish to end.

Vik pressed his lips to her forehead, closed his eyes and pulled her closer if that was even possible. What did it make them? "I don't know about you, but this makes me incapable of moving", not exactly what she was asking but a smile would reveal is jest. But move he did, just enough to turn them both until laying side by side and able to look each other in the eye. His hand caressed up her body until finding her face, fingers dancing lightly over her cherry blossom skin and pushing her hair behind her ear. To the Aelvar, once their heart is given to another, it is for life.

But this was different, she was not Aelvar after all. "What do you want us to be?". He did not wish to place that part of Aelvar culture on her if she did not desire it. And besides, Vik was still trying to work out exactly what he truly was. Yes, he is Aelvar but there is more to him than that, an unknown that removes all sense of the mundane.
"I can't imagine life without you", he finally voiced his thoughts and following them, a kiss most deep and full of love.

It was a strange sensation, laying here with him. Strange and wonderful, yet new and frightening all the same. Yula didn’t know what to expect, but she couldn’t bring herself to part from him even if she wanted to. She’d never been kissed the way he kissed her, full of passion and…it just felt right without her being able to pinpoint the exact reason why.

“I want us to be together.” The words felt odd as she spoke but there was a raw truth to them. There was a sense of anxiety swirling in her gut and over the next few moments, her gaze would sober. Several seconds of silence fell between them as she ruminated on his last words to her. Though it made her happy to hear that he wanted to be with her as much as she wanted to be with him, she found something troubling in them.

“I…” Her words failed for a moment as she searched for the right thing to say. “You’re going to outlive me. By centuries…” Her voice died for a moment as she struggled how to phrase her feelings in this newfound setting they had just created for themselves. Being friends and flirting was one thing, but romantic relationships and deeper feelings were where Yula’s confidence wavered. Little did she know that her grandfather Zef had been faced with the same conundrum, though quite a bit more was at stake for him given that there was a child in the mix.

Persevering, she sucked in a breath. “Are you sure you want to do this? I don’t want to hurt you when I inevitably pass on long before you.” It would have broken her heart, but she couldn’t stand the thought of leaving him to suffer.

It needed to be said, needed to be asked and never was going to be the right moment for her question. Vik had pondered on this very thought before they became lovers, if she was Aelvar this would not be a problem but she isn't. But before he would answer her, he wanted to reassure her. "I want us to be together too", he smiled hoping to relieve some of her worry.

He looked passed her, turned his face until his eyes pierced the trees hanging over them and into the sky beyond trying to find the right words there, trying to conceive the future beyond this moment, he was not like some of the other Aelvar who had the gift of foresight so the future was clouded to him. It was not as if Vik could not die, a mortal wound to him would bring death to him, well death in the physical meaning but his father's print on him would propel him into something else, something that would live forever. And that scared him.

Vik took in a deep breath, her head on his chest rising and falling with it, before he looked back to her. "Yes, I will out live you. But a life without you would be no life at all. And a day will come when I will lose you, my light in this galaxy will go out and I will have to live on in the darkness", he smiled at the beautiful thought of this. Strange to think such a way? No. "But I will have known love, the giving of it, and to have received it. The thought of going through life never having this chance, to feel love .. is unthinkable".

"I love you Yula". He said nuzzling into her hair by her ear.

Yula watched him, listening to the rhythmic breathing of his chest as it rose and fell. For once she didn’t have much to say, mind addled with all of the worries and excitements that went with embarking into new territory. Too often she wavered between gusto and wariness when faced with reality.

Her hand curled into the furs, brow furrowing as Vik began his response. Why did he smile at the thought of living in darkness without her? She couldn’t make sense of it. Perhaps there was a bitter-sweetness to it, but she wouldn’t be the one to taste it. “I understand.” She answered back softly. Maybe he would be better off with someone of his own race, a woman who wouldn’t leave him so quickly. “I don’t want you to live in darkness.”

But Yula was entitled to her own happiness, and Vik had already expressed his feelings on the matter. And that was what made her smile back as he nuzzled against her ear. However, his next words startled her.

“Love…?” She peered over to him, not a difficult feat considering how close they were. “That’s a bit much so soon…” Though she had enjoyed their time together and could feel her affection for him growing each day, she felt as if she wasn’t quite there yet. “Give me more time, and I will say those words back to you.” Yula reached to caress his face, a smile slowly forming. “Besides, you haven’t even met my mother yet.”
