Setting up the Nest (OPEN)

Owain

Lord High Grand Commander Esq.
He couldn't help it, she looked so adorable puzzling over the little things. It was hard to constantly remember she had been a princess, that she took such simple acts for granted. But she hadn't had servants in that castle place she grew up in on the planet of winds. Had she? Or had she relied on his uncle to do everything?

"Seems like mommy is quite tired," he whispered conspirationally to Zelda, still loud enough for Felicity to hear. "Think we should help?"

The baby titlted her head at his tone, not sure what was being siad but catching the smile on his face. Owain took it to mean yes and wandered back over to the blonde princess. "Here, let me. You're too tired to handle anything...ah...hot," he advised, offering her little Zelda. Now the little one was quiet, maybe both of them would get to sleep.

Tired? Well, yes, but not too tired to read instructions! She could manage it, even with this awful splitting headache. Now, she needed to add two teaspoons of... this stuff. How much was a teaspoon again? She reached down to pull open a drawer just as little Zelda was held out to her. She frowned and the child seemed to frown back. The little one seemed almost to read her mind. Scary.

"It's not a big deal. I can do it. How hard can it even be?" but by now Owain had taken over. Felicity took the baby and sat on the couch, awkwardly cradling the sleepy baby.

"One of us is going to have to get a job..."

"Not for a while I hope...I mean, you do have access to dummy accounts right?" he called from the kitchen, brewing up a quick cup of coffee. Not ideal, and not what she was used to. Tough. SHe was going to have to make do. And she would. He smiled at that. Felicity would endure anything. She was that kind of girl. It what drew people to her. Her strength when faced with adversity. Even Zelda could sense it. The inner strnegth her new mother radiated. Space wizards huh? Such an enigma to someone like him. He shrugged as he poured the boiling water and took the coffee to his sorta-fake wife. SHe seemed to be in a staring contest with the child. "...you should talk to her. Or let her hear your heart..." he suggested, placing the coffee on the small table in front of them.

The girl stared back. Felicity met her gaze. She would blink or look away first. Felicity refused to lose, even to a baby. That was when Owain spoke up.
Felicity blinked.

"Let her hear my heart? Are you some kinda Jedi Master now? You sound like Master Elaris when you say that, you know?"
Felicity smirked up at him, teasing. Sometimes she honestly forgot that she herself was one of those 'space wizards' she joked about.
"Look, we have credits enough to get by, but it won't last forever. Plus it looks way less suspicious if we look like we work for a living. I think tomorrow I'll go out looking. How hard can it be to find decent work anyway?"

OWain made a face at that comment. "No. But from what I read, children spends nine months in the womb hearing their mother's heartbeat. It's...comforting for them," he tried to explain, scratching his head. "And uh...why don't I go? After all, Zelda was entrusted to you," he offered, glancing at the little girl. Yeah...he hadn't been part of the arrangement at all. He'd just tagged along.

[member="Felicity Mason"]

Oh, he meant her literal heart. That wasn't just some terrible poetry. She still grinned when she saw the face he made.

"What, you want to go? But you seem to have such a spiritual connection with Zel here." Felicity giggled, resting the baby's head on her chest while she rubbed her back with one hand. She seemed to like that. "Entrusted to me, yeah, but you're the one that wanted to tag along and play house with me. You said yourself that you wanted to be a daddy."

"If anyone has a 'spiritual connection', it's sure to be you," Owain countered, making air quotes with his fingers as he spoke. And he somehow didn't remember mentioning wishing to be a father this soon. Typical princess Felicity - ever the politician, twisting his words against her. So he shrugged in response. "Well, if you think you could get a job and not get into trouble all the time..."

Suddenly, the image of Felicity at a cantina, dressed as a waitress and handing out fast food swept into his mind. He snorted before stopping himself.

"-Of course I could get a job!" she snapped back, of course, she said nothing about staying out of trouble.
On her chest, little Zelda snored lightly. Felicity hadn't even noticed that she'd fallen asleep on her.
"Besides, what makes you think you'd do better?"

She could just imagine him, probably working as some security guard somewhere. Probably at a shopping center or something equally lame. Still, it would be a steady pay check. And she had to admit, he'd look cute in a uniform...

He nearly jumped back in surprise when Felicity snapped at him. SHe must have been really stressed if that's how she reacted...

Owain coughed politely to remind her of the child now asleep in her arms, tilting his head in Zelda's direction before speaking again. "Well...out fo the two of us, who has spent more time around people and actually lived what could be called a normal life?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

Her irritation cooled almost immediately. After all he did for her, here she was snapping at him. She frowned, running a hand through the baby's soft brown hair.

"Sorry," she mumbled, "I guess you are right. I just... don't really wanna spend all my time in hiding like this. I want to go out and see things, do things. I spent so long already stuck inside all the time. I just kinda thought I'd finally get to experience life. With you."

She looked away, embarrassed. Even after all this time with him, she still felt uncomfortable sharing too much about her feelings with him. He'd just think she was pathetic if he knew how incredibly insecure she could be.

He smiled and stepped closer, hugging her with one hand to avoid squeezing Zelda. "Sorry to disappoint, but life is kinda like this," he pointed out. "Long periods of tediousness, interpsaced with days of frantic activity," the raven haired youth continued before shrugging. "But...if you wanna go play miss adventure then sure, let's give it a try!" he offered. If Felicity found a job, then he'd have to look after Zelda the most...

A smile. That was all the answer she gave. A smile and a kiss on the cheek. Just like a normal, happy house wife. Mom, dad and... baby. Even if it was just pretend.

"Hey... she's asleep now. Do you wanna...?" she let her voice trail off, eyes shifting to the bed room door. "Or maybe we should just go to sleep. You're probably more tired than I am."

He raised an eyebrow at her suggestion, grinning despite himself. In fairness it was unliekly they'd do much - little Zelda could wake up and need attention after all. "Well...let's go to bed and see how things develop from there." It was a safe compromise, and he threw in a wink to make sure the girl wouldn't take his answer as a refusal. As if he could ever refuse her...

It was alright. They were married. At least, they were posing as a married couple. They had the fake documents to prove it. They could even have fake wedding holos made if they needed to. So she was allowed to share a bed with him. She was allowed to make love with him. Not like it would be the first time, after all.

She went into the only bedroom, eyeing the tiny bassinet that had been quickly set up in the corner. Not a long term sleeping solution for Zelda at all, but they could go out and find a crib for her tomorrow. For now, this was a safe place for her to lay down and sleep. She set the sleeping infant down as gently as she could, carefully wrapping her snugly in a fleece blanket. Actually, that was the only blanket she had, now that she thought about it. The baby needed so much...

"Owain," she whispered, testing her own volume to see how loud she could be before waking the baby. No reaction. Yet.
"Owaaain," she practically sang, just a little louder, "Come to bed with me."

Ah, the sing-song voice of Songbird. He had missed that. Grinning like a fool, Owain obliged her request and entered the bedroom, glancing at Zelda's sleeping form. That might make things a tad awkward...but still. Felicity was in front of him, and it had been a while since they had last...ehm, enjoyed each others company. He reached out to embrace the girl - no, the young woman before him. No longer a frail princess in a gilded cage, oh no. She had left all that so far behind since they had met.

[member="Felicity Mason"]

Felicity giggled as he wrapped his arms around her. Not exactly what she had in mind. She figured that he'd want to get right down to business, since they were in such a hurry. She tilted her chin up to catch his lips on hers for an instant before pulling away. Her hands found his and she tugged on them as she sat on the bed.

"Don't be shy now," she said, keeping her voice low, "I promise i'll be nice."

Warmth flooded his body at her playful tone. When had she gotten so confident? He remembered the nervous blonde trying so hard...but that was hardly the girl sitting down before him now. It was...nice, to see her so confident now. So sure of herself. He couldn't help but grin as he sat down next to her, kissing her neck. It was their thing. What had started their intimacy, what she felt most safe with. It was silly and childish, but it was theirs.

"We don't have a lot of time you know..."

It wasn't exactly an objection to what he was doing to her now of course. Her neck was kind of her 'on' button and they both knew it. Not that he ever needed to work hard to get her in bed. She was easy and she'd never deny it, but she was only easy for him. Only ever him. Her other boyfriends and all those other crushes that she'd had never really went anywhere serious and even now, she couldn't ever imagine a one of them being where she was now with Owain. She was always told to wait. Everyone always said that this should never happen until marriage.
She glanced down at the fake wedding ring she wore on her finger and smiled. Close enough. If a fake marriage was the closest she'd get, she was at least happy that it was with him. Her fingers ran up his back, to his neck, tangling in his dark hair. She gave it a gentle tug to tell him enough. Babies woke up a lot during the night. They didn't exactly have all the time in the world here.

Ah, but some things never changed. Like her impatience. Well, he could understand. Children put quite a damper on everything. They had to be watched out for 24/7. So whenever there was a chance for some privacy, they had to grab it. So he let her tug on his hair, pulling his face up. He kissed her, letting his hands move to begin stripping her of her clothing. It was all in the way.

All she had on was one of his shirts and her under things. It was never like her to dress so casually around him until now, even when he did stay in her room back with the Magrath family. It was actually really nice to be able to let go now. The future was a scary thing. She was afraid the instant she got on the ship with that baby.
She fell back on the mattress, shivering from the cold air conditioning unit blowing from just across the room.

"Don't forget before you start," she warned, knowing that he would understand, "We don't want any accidents, do we?"
