O B J E C T I V E I: SALVATION
Corin's words had their desired affect, as it kept the warden centered in the moment. She wasn't in her element truth be told. Fighting alongside soldiers wasn't her place, it was beside the empress, and fellow wardens. The blaster felt so awkward in her hands, but she didn't trust herself with a saber right now.
The craving was still there, and the chance she could devolve back into who she had been? No, that wasn't something she wanted to take a risk with. She followed behind the woman regardless, blaster still in hand, as they had clearly come into a recently occupied location given the items of interest. As it turned out, the enemy wasn't that far away as fire began to come directly at them. Ducking into cover, Lil wasn't entirely sure what to do next.
Before she would just trudge ahead, using the force and a lightsaber to protect herself, and begin tearing into the enemy. But now? What was she to do? She looked at the weapon in her head, hearing Corin shout orders into her comm, and feeling that she needed to do something. Being told to get ready, Lil braced, gripping the weapon tightly; slightly bending the grip of her blaster in the process. Moving from cover, she fired upon the Shadow soldiers before them. Lil, Corin, and the Corporal were firing for all their worth, but it seemed for every body that hit the ground, another would step in to fire upon them. A blaster shot struck her in the shoulder, another in the leg.
A warning slammed through her attempt to block out the force, her body tensing, eyes widening as time seemed to slow. She saw the air before Corin spark, blaster shots impacting the woman, as the Ultranaut began to fall forward, face down to the ground. The droid and Anros no longer registered in her mind, seeing as how the woman before her was now in the middle of falling in battle. Time seemed to remain in this slowed state for a long while, leaving the Warden with time to act; though not nearly as much as she thought. Raising her blaster, she squeezed down on the trigger. Firing a burst into the room, she swept it across the room, hoping to drive back the Shadows while she could pull Corin into something of a better position.
She hadn't a clue of what to do, and if Corin was dead, force forbid she would have to take command. With her enhanced strength, she seized Corin by the ankle, and pulled her into cover behind a half disintegrated crate. Several blaster shots struck her, Lil's armor smoldered, and pain finally began to register as the underarmor was now compromised. She fell backwards, stumbling into cover.
That sensation crawled at her gut, screaming at her to embrace the pain, to tap into it and tear the enemy asunder. She tried to focus on something else, anything else. Corin, yes, Corin. She fell onto her hands, her blaster having clattered to the ground as blaster fire continued to sail overhead. She reached for the Ultranaut, seeking to turn her onto her back and ensure she wasn't KIA.
Leading a damn field op was the last thing she needed right now.
It was then that she heard the voice of the empress puncture through the panic of combat, and with her duty now in danger of being compromised, she felt she had no choice.
She couldn't hold back the temptation anymore.
