Braze had taken his time preparing each invitation, carefully penning a letter to Cassana, Loomi, and Azurine. In his note, he kept it simple but clear—this was his treat, and the day was just for them, no one else. He wanted the gathering to be small, a chance to share something special with each of them. Plus it would be a good chance to pick on on their interests and plan possible gifts in the future for each of them.

After arranging transport with Knight Toth on the Red Wind and getting approval from his master, everything was set.

Stepping off the Red Wind and into the bustling Eshan shopping district, Braze stretched, breathing in the fresh air and taking in the sight of the vibrant boutiques lining the streets. He turned to the girls with an excited smile.

“So, we’ve got plenty of options ahead,” he said, gesturing toward the shops. “Anything specific you’re interested in finding today?”

"Golly..." Loomi muttered, examining the shopping district.

This wasn't like the festival at all. There were a lot more... things. Nice things. She kind of thought this was going to be a snack run, but she was sorely mistaken. Spicy noodles seemed to be off the list of things she would be getting today...


"U-uh, I don't know... Maybe I'll just look and let myself be surprised," she decided with an awkward smile. "Yeah, that's it."

That would be good. Maybe she could see what the others were interested in and see what sort of things she should be looking for. Hopefully that was possible...


 

For the majority of the trip when they weren't occupied with anything else, and she wasn't in the cockpit learning more flight controls and the like, Casaana had been trying to convince the others that Red Wind was a terrible name for a Jedi ship. "No really, most people live in one spot, so the wind just sweeps over them with little warning. And if it's red, like blood, there's an implication there that it'll bring death. Like an inescapable wind that leaves nothing behind but a bloody mess. Great name for a Sith ship if you ask me. Or like a particularly poetic marauder."

The shopping district was busy, but not too crowded. Something Casaana was okay with because it was city stuff, not a room full of Jedi and her peers. "Yeah, just looking is good. Maybe find some nice shirts." She agreed with Loomi, still uncertain about Braze offering to treat them. It seemed like they were taking advantage of his desire to hang out and making him pay for it, which he totally didn't need to do.

Azurine was honestly surprised to get yet another invitation out from Braze. She couldn't say she knew him that well, or really any of the other names on the list. She'd seen them around here and there, but wasn't exactly sure who was who half the time. She was still trying to figure things out in this time, after all. She remembered having wanted to speak to him at the palace, thank him for the invitation, but the night had run away from her with everything that had been going on then. She figured at least now would be a good time to do that.

She didn't exactly have any credits, or at least not much, and she only had a few pieces of clothing to her name, one such outfit being the one she was currently wearing that she'd had to piece together from whatever had not been destroyed or worn down left in the wreckage of her ship after her 900 years in stasis —which made her look more like a smuggler than anything else— so she figured she'd just hang around and look. Maybe make a list for the future of anything nice that caught her eye. The first time she'd done something like this was with Valery and Anneliese. She wasn't exactly used to being in a situation where just going out and spending time on frivolous things was something she had the ability to do. She was certainly out of her element.

Azzie was instantly impressed, though, looking at the shopping district of this planet when she moved down the ramp. Her violet colored eyes shifted with shades of lavander and royal hues in curiosity at everything here. So much so that she almost missed the others speaking. Her silvery prosthetic hand rose to rub the back of her neck, and she shrugged.

"Eh, not really?" She said in response to Braze after the others. She doubted anything here was in her budget anyway, but it was a nice change in pace to come along, even if the bags of sleeplessness under her eyes tried to say otherwise. She paused, thinking about it a little bit before continuing. "Well, actually ... Master Valery and Aris were telling me about this Fire Festival on Niv Hani? It might be nice to find something for that, but I'm not necessarily looking for anything in particular."

"Most guys who name ships go for something cool or edgy… or a girl's name for some weird reason." Braze shook his head, picturing the red haze curling from a smoke bomb. "I think it sounds kinda nice, though," he admitted, a hint of admiration in his voice.

He clicked his tongue at the girls, crossing his arms over his chest as he sighed, almost theatrically. Running a hand through his snowy white bangs, he brushed them back. These three were proving to be quite the handful. "Shirts and festival garb, huh? I think we can manage that. But we should probably pick up some food for lunch when you all get hungry. Fair warning, though—Echani food tends to be on the spicy side, so watch what you pick," he offered, already mapping out their next few stops. Though, in the back of his mind, he kept the nagging thought of his own mission here.

"Loomi, you might want to grab some warmer clothes for colder environments," Braze suggested, spotting a boutique across the street. Flowing dresses, loose pants, and garments in dip-dyed gradient colors with shimmering accents decorated the shopfront. "How about this one? Looks like it's got some nice options," he asked, gesturing toward the shop. "Most Echani clothing is designed for maximum movement and shows off the body's form—since, well, sparring is practically an everyday thing here. It's how a lot of us communicate, and even bond in a way."

He glanced at the girls, studying them briefly before tapping his chin thoughtfully. "Have any of you had really long hair before?" Braze asked, noticing their short styles, ranging from bobs to shoulder-length cuts.

"Oh. I suppose that might be smart..." Loomi noted, rubbing at her chin as she thought.

Warm clothes. She typically used the large overcoats that the NJO provided them for outings, used on Ilum particularly. She hadn't thought about getting specialized clothes for such a thing because of that. It might be... fun? Were clothes fun? Maybe they could be. Yeah. Perhaps she'd get something akin to a blanket to wrap around herself. Loomi did like blankets.


"Well, actually ... Master Valery and Aris were telling me about this Fire Festival on Niv Hani? It might be nice to find something for that, but I'm not necessarily looking for anything in particular."

"Fire Festival?" the Godoan chirped curiously, tilting her head. "I like festivals... people wear super colorful things to those. I'd bet all the clothes will be vibrant to match the fire."

That sounded fun. She liked the sound of a festival. The last one she had been to was on Ukatis... or maybe it was the Winter Solstice here on Eshan? It had been a while since she had been to a festival. The Godoan really ought to go to another, she reasoned. Yes. That would be good.

When Braze asked about long hair, Loomi's attention was directed back to her Echani companion.

"Really long?" she mused. "Like down to your back long? I... I kinda want to..."

Loomi paused, her face becoming bright red for a moment.

"B-but I'm worried about it," the Padawan admitted. "What if it gets stuck in something? I-I'm sure I'm clumsy enough to manage that..."

Azurine nodded her head, trying not to get lost in thought while she took in all of her surroundings. She found herself chuckling a bit when Braze mentioned the spiciness of the food. A lot of dishes on Iridonia were very much the same, specifically on grounds that their taste buds were evolutionarily different as a carnivore species. Spice was one of the things that they could easily pick up on, unlike many sweet tastes that were generally more muted and often less appealing. "I can definitely handle my spice. You don't have to worry on that front," she joked, giving them a quick playful grin.

"Most Echani clothing is designed for maximum movement and shows off the body's form—"

He'd said, which immediately made her violet eyes light up with vibrant shades of lavander. It made her think of her own culture on Iridonia, though on top of that, they also had to have clothing designed to safeguard against the more nasty acid rain storms as well. On a good day, Zabrak skin could handle a certain amount of it, having evolved to do so, but just in case it was particularly rough having that was important to have in ones wardrobe. She glanced at the boutique, multiple different things catching her eye. "These are beautiful."

This was already lovely. A nice change in pace just looking around, even if she looked a little pale and sleepless recently.

When Loomi's excited words reached her ears, she suddenly realized that she couldn't even remember the last time she had been to a real festival. It had to have been before her family was killed on Iridonia, which was when she was a young child. She sheepishly looked at the ground from the bit of embarrassment that knicked at her gut, even if her eyes still held a sparkle of excitement listening to how highly she spoke about them. "Oh, yeah, Hotshot invited me to go with, I figured it would be cool," she said with a quick shrug. At this point, Aris Noble Aris Noble had quickly become one of her close friends, and the way it had been described sounded like it would be a good time, so she couldn't possibly turn it down.

When the topic of hair came up, she ran a hand through her own black strands that was cut just above the shoulders and on the left side was braided across the scalp, pushing some loose ones behind her ear. Frankly, she thought it looked pretty good on her that way, and it was certainly much easier to manage with her horns.

"Actually, I did. It was a year or so ago—" she cut herself off, immediately remembering that though it might have only been that long for her, technically what she was talking about had happened centuries before. "I kind of chopped it off after I lost my arm, though." A good chuck of the long braid that typically held most of her hair had been seered through along with the missing limb, so her options had been to leave it like that, or just cut it off entirely.




 

Casaana shrugged, "I dunno, awhile back. It kept getting tangled up and was a lot of work before bed. And then it'd be tangled in the morning if I didn't put it in a braid or something." Then there was a time or two she woke up with it around her neck or in her mouth. "Cutting it short is much better. Also fits under a helmet." She looked to Loomi, "Keep it short, its much cuter and more manageable."

The suggested stores looked fine to her. They seemed to have that bland front that all stores too expensive for her tastes had. Maybe it made the clothes in the storefronts stand out more. "Mobility is good," she did a form one arm swing without the saber or footwork in demonstration. "Alright, picking a store to get moving." She slowly spun around to look at the options. "That one," she'd picked ant pointed to a store with floor length windows lining the front and a gray fronting and those Twi'lek casement windows where the little panes made up a bigger window trimming the top of the facade. It was also one of the few shops in visual distance that was showcasing more normal clothing than shimmering gauzy dresses.

"That one, chop chop, lets go." Placing a hand on Braze's shoulder, Casaana gently began pushing him along. Shopping really wasn't a favorite pastime of hers and the sooner they were done, the happier she would be.

Braze smirked at Loomi, "Yeah, that's definitely a risk. You could always tie it up all fancy, though that takes some extra effort."

He nodded at Azurine "The Fire Festival sounds like a great place for a date. What kinda festivities will be there?" He teased, his voice lilting with mock suspicion before adding, "And here I thought he was fond of Zaiya Ceti Zaiya Ceti . Is it a friend date, or like a date date?"

Braze looked her hair over then asked "How do you like the new style?"

He let Casaana her take the lead as she started nudging him toward the shop. "Alright, alright, I'm coming. " He chirped before looking over the window displays. " They have some nice sheer fits here. " He chirped happily. " Was thinking of maybe finding some color-shifting materials. " He added lightly as he stepped in looking about. "We should try to find one or two things at least we like and have a little 'show' ~"

Azurine nodded to Loomi in agreement with Braze's statement bout tying it up. "I used to keep mine in one big braid, which helped. I highly doubt you'd have my problem with it getting caught even when braided if you really wanted to." She said with a playful chuckle, turning her head to the side and pulling the hair at the back of it to the side a bit so much more of her horns would be seen than just the points that poked through. They circled her entire skull like two crowns, alternating in a zigzag pattern. She turned her attention back to Braze and Casaana, "I agree with Casaana, though. It's definitely easier to manage. When I figured out the braid types I liked, I ended up liking it way better this way."

At first, the comment almost went over her head as she focused on looking at the different shops while they moved through the streets, her brain perceiving he was speculating about taking someone there himself. "I was told there would be a lot of food, fighting, and fire dancing. Fire dancing sounds like a great time on its own." She grinned at the thought, wondering if she'd be able to learn enough to keep up or not. Aris Noble Aris Noble had done a pretty good job of selling it to her, and it would be nice to spend some time with people she felt she was getting close to.

"Is it a friend date, or like a date date?"

That was the point at which his teasing tone finally made sense, and she flipped to face him, a bit of shock laceing into her amethyst colored eyes. "Wait, do you think—" she cut herself off, unable to keep herself from laughing. "Hotshot is cute and all, but no. Absolutely not!" she choked out between laughs. Luckily for her, she was able to turn it into a joke pretty quickly before any of her pain could show in her eyes. She was not in a place to be able to see anyone in that way, anyway, even if she wanted to. Her grief from that which she'd lost, the guilt that came with it, and the withering bond still ripping at her soul wouldn't allow it.

Casaana deciding to take the lead pulled her attention to the store she'd decided on. It certainly had some lovely displays. "Hey, if you happen to find something you think would actually look good on me, then I'll try it on. Fair?"

Loomi frowned a little as she followed the group. Something Azurine would look nice in according to them... It seemed like a hard thing to properly determine. Taste was subjective, right? Loomi figured she thought most people looked good in clothes. She wasn't exactly as acclimated to fashion like Braze was.

Something did seem... off, however. When Braze asked if she was going on a date date, there was a flicker of sadness that momentarily inhabited Azurine's emotions. Loomi, highly sensitive to such things, picked up on it. Should she ask?

No. It may not be appropriate. She'd see if she could offer assistance later to avoid anything sensitive or personal.

"I-I'm still not entirely sure what I look good in," the Godoan admitted. "A lot just looks... the same to me. Is that weird? I feel like it might be weird..."


 

Casaana looked back from where she was playfully pushing Braze ahead of the group. Azurine certainly had a unique problem she sympathized with. Protrusions around the head looked like it'd be a problem with hats, or most helmets. Which for a Jedi could be a problem if they found themselves in a vacuum as often as Casaana seemed to. "Yep, shorts good, and there are still braids you could do if you really wanted to. Like a crown braid or a few small ones."

Festivals were right out for her, too many people and she always just sort of wandered around aimlessly. Didn't help that she always seemed to get in trouble at them when she was younger. Really though, what would anyone expect after letting a young girl with Force powers and a sugar rush loose on an unexpecting festival. She'd been killer at the carnival games though. "Wait, who's the Hotshot? Aris?" They weren't talking about anyone else, Casaana just didn't join the gossip or spend much time around the Nobles.

"Nah, a lot of it is the same," she reassured Loomi. "At least in categories. Pants are pants, tops, dresses, etcetera." It probably horrified Braze, but Casaana wasn't a fashionista. "Then it's colors and patterns, and typically we're not supposed to stand out too much." Ooooh, if they got anything too pretty would they get in trouble for it? Like they could wear whatever when they were off, but around one of the main temples? This was why she liked Kattada, nobody cared if you dressed for the beach or exploring.

"I'm thinking of growing my hair out," Braze said, running a hand through it absently. "It's been a while since I got it cut, and I'm kinda liking the longer length. I've also been toying with the idea of dyeing it a different color."

"Hotshot is cute and all, but no. Absolutely not!"
"Wait, who's the Hotshot? Aris?"

He smirked, a wry little twist of his lips forming as he heard what she said next. "He is pretty cute, though, isn't he? " Braze asked, his tone carrying a hint of amused agreement, as if he genuinely believed it to be true. " I think I remember hearing Azurine call him that after their initial spar. First girl I've seen put that kinda smile on his face. "

He paused, his attention shifting to listen to Azurine and Loomi.

"Hey, if you happen to find something you think would actually look good on me, then I'll try it on. Fair?"

Braze took a few steps ahead and turned to face them. "Well, you and Loomi share a very similar color palette—golden skin, dark hair, and accents of violet. For you, it's in your eyes; for her, it's in her wings. So, you'd both likely look great in similar outfits, palette-wise.

You could go for a primary tetrad look and pair blues and reds with neutrals and metallics. Another option is to embrace earth tones and neutrals to complement your golden skin and dark hair. Or, if you want something striking, rich violets and wine reds would create a bold contrast that really pops!

Oooor~ you two would look amazing in outfits featuring rich, gem-like colors. Think of shades that are analogous to violet—like deep reds, wine tones, violet-reds, and even deep sapphire blues or blue-violets.


"Actually," he added with a grin, "if we're talking seasonal color palettes, I'd say you both fall into the Fall category—most likely Autumn or maybe Spring—since your golden skin suggests warm undertones. Here's why: golden skin leans warm, which rules out cooler seasons like Winter or Summer. Your dark hair works for both Autumn and Spring, but Autumn usually has richer, deeper tones compared to Spring's brighter, lighter vibe. And the violet accents—your eyes for you, Azurine, and her wings for Loomi—add a cool twist. That gives you some versatility to either contrast in a Spring palette or blend beautifully with Autumn's jewel tones.

"Breaking it down: Autumn is all about earthy tones and rich, gem-like colors—think wine reds, deep blues, golden yellows, or olive greens. Warm, muted colors like rust, mustard, or teal would really suit you both and highlight your depth and richness. Spring, on the other hand, is all about fresh, bright colors—like coral, peach, robin's egg blue, or sunny yellow. So, if you want something lighter and more vibrant, Spring could work too.

"As for cuts, focus on styles that frame your best features and create balance where you feel it's needed. It's like a little game of visual harmony. But honestly, if you love the way it looks and you're comfortable in the clothes, then it's a winner! If it were up to me I'd pick rich violets."


Braze turned, his gaze landing on Casaana next. A smirk played at the corner of his lips as he spoke. "As for you~ I think you fit into the Autumn category. You've got that warm, earthy vibe with your brown hair and eyes. You'd look amazing in rich, jewel tones—deep teal, forest green, or maroon—and earthy shades like rust, burnt orange, or olive green. Oh, and warm neutrals like camel or cream would totally highlight your features."

He paused, giving her a thoughtful once-over. "But, if you lean cooler, you could rock some Winter colors too—burgundy, navy, or even something bold like emerald green. Either way, you've got options."

After a cursory glance around the store, Braze zeroed in on a series of outfits—each one featuring varying shades of deep, regal purple. In moments, he had gathered them all into a pile, his hands moving with an unsettling precision and speed. It was almost alarming how quickly he moved from one end of the sprawling store to the other, considering the abundance of variety and the way clothes were scattered across racks and shelves. It was a small glimpse into the kind of efficiency that his training had ingrained into him—effortless and instinctive, almost mechanical in its fluidity.

He looked between Loomi and Azurine as he moved to set them up near a mirrored section on the nearby racks, carefully arranging his finds. Walking down the aisle with them, he handed over the outfits in a casual, side-handed manner, ensuring they could get a good look at each ensemble in full view of the mirrors.

Braze then moved to stand by Casaana, a playful glint in his eyes. "But maybe I'm just biased toward the beautiful color violet," he mused, tilting his head thoughtfully. "What do you think Casaana? Would any of these fit either of them?"

He gestured toward the outfits, his tone turning more animated. "I'm fairly partial to sheer, flowing fabrics, soft velvets, and silks—high collars, contoured and cinched waists, no sleeves or flowing sleeves with speckled details. Oh, and I just can't seem to look away from anything with a bit of glitz or glam."

Braze was good at saying a lot of smart sounding words. He was talking about palettes based on hair and her wings, which was... flattering. That was the word for it, yeah. It certainly made her feel that there was a level of respect in regards to her appearance, which she wasn't always sure of given her scars. It was nice, even if she didn't quite understand all of it.

Loomi ran her hand along one of the dresses, examining the material of the sleeves.

"They're all rather pretty..." the Godoan muttered. "Golly, I-I couldn't possibly try on all of these."

She turned back to her group with a sheepish smile. Braze asking for Casaana's advice was the exact sort of thing she needed, the young padawan decided. Less pressure on her to make a choice.

"I'd much rather get your advice on which one is best, I think."

Azurine couldn’t help the stare of shock she gave Braze, though she was still very much laughing about the possibility at all, like it was ridiculous. "Firstly, I'd like to remind you that I'm 21, so nope. Secondly, he's like my brother!" She stated, like both of those things were the most obvious points in the world. Smiling and laughing couldn't be that big of a change, could it?

Wait, is that why Zaiya Ceti Zaiya Ceti seems to get awkward when I'm around...?

The question ran through her head as the connection finally started to form. However, she attempted to dismiss it pretty quickly. And turned her attention back to everything Braze had to say about color. It was frankly rather amazing to her all of the little things that might make a particular color look better on someone than another. She had always been pretty good with her eyes, but she never knew any of the nuances behind it like that. Hopefully, she might be able to remember it for later.

She found herself thumbing over at least a couple, if not more, of the items that the younger padawan had pulled [ X | X | X ] that stuck out to her. "These are so nice; I love them." Purple and opal colors had certainly been colors that looked good on her, and she loved them. But she found herself wondering about other autumn colors. Turning her attention to Loomi, she gave a quick smile and pointed out a few lighter and more flowery pieces from what Braze had suggested [ X | X | X ]. "What about these for you, maybe? I think they would look great, but my opinion isn't exactly the most professional." She said, cracking a joke.

She glanced around, moving to pull something nearby that very quickly caught her eye as well and held it out to get a better look at it, her eyes seeming to light up a bit. A two-piece set, orange—with hints of blue—and flowy with golden accents.




 

Her best features? She uhhhh, had good cheek bones and jawline? Casaana didn't really think about herself that much, dressing for attention had always seemed vain. Or like, weird? Also nice clothes meant you had to look after them and felt bad when they got dirty. The ones Braze was currently pulling from seemingly every rack weren't helping. One or two looked okay, at least if they weren't in purple. Really it looked great on Loomi and maybe Azurine, it wasn't her color. Others braze were pulling made her want to communicate with him in the Echani fashion. She really didn't like how tight some of them looked like they'd be across the wearer's backside or the deep necks and deep split skirts.

"Just pick the ones you like Loomi." She recommended with some cheer. "I think Azrine's right with the ones she was looking at." At least he had pulled some good ones for his not-girlfriend. Smiling to herself, Casaana went to find some to try on that wouldn't leave her too self-conscious to enjoy whatever occasion she ever managed to wear something like these dresses at.

She found one, rejected another that seemed to be glowing, just... no. Too many things wrong with that. And had convinced an attendant to find out if one on a display had a sister anywhere close to her size by the time she wandered back over to see Azuurine holding an orange and cream ensemble. "Awww! That's so pretty! Like a sunrise!"

Braze perked up as he noticed the option Loomi had picked out. “I think that’s a very pretty one. It might be a bit of a pain to deal with all the little details, but I think it’s gorgeous,” he said with a smile.

“I really like these two for you,” he continued, gesturing toward this and this for Azurine Varek Azurine Varek . “I’m leaning toward the blue one for its color and the other one for its style.”

He looked over the flame-colored outfit and smiled warmly. “I think that’s a great choice. The golds and oranges will complement your eyes beautifully, serving as both analogous and harmonious tones to your golden skin. It’s an excellent pick,” he said with a nod of approval.

Braze then turned his attention to the three outfits Azurine had picked out for Loomi: [ this, this, and this]. “I love the first two for Loomi; they’re great picks. The last one is nice, but I’m not a fan of the bodice piece. The middle one is really good too—maybe if we added long, flowing sleeves made of matching fabric, it’d be perfect. What do you think Loomi Loomi ?”

When Braze’s gaze landed on the display outfit Casaana Casaana brought back, his eyes lit up. “Wow… I think that’s a pretty perfect match for you, Casanna. It’s very elegant, very regal, and I think that shade of green is beautiful. It’ll pair so well with your hair color,” he chirped enthusiastically.

"What about these for you, maybe? I think they would look great, but my opinion isn't exactly the most professional."

It didn't take long for Loomi to find the one she liked the most. It was the first dress, and very easily so. Her cheeks reddened at the suggestion that she would look great in it, which was flattering. The Godoan very much saw such a thing as being made for a prettier girl than herself.

But she still did want it.

"Golly," Loomi mumbled. "I... I-if you guys think that this one would be good..."

Who was she to not get it then, right? It would be rude not to, and she did very much want it. Casaana was looking through some dresses for herself, which took some of the attention away from the Godoan padawan just long enough to take a breath. Azurine had as well. Both found good matches, or at least Loomi felt they did. She wasn't exactly a professional at this sort of thing.

And of course Braze had very flowery things to say about all of them.

"I think you'll both look great in those," she decided. "Yeah."

Maybe she just had a better eye for what complimented other people, or what made other people cool for that matter. That definitely had implications about her own self esteem...

But she'd rather think about that later.
