Green Healer
I gracefully take my champagne glass, lifting my chin ever so slightly as I lock eyes with Ova. The golden reflections of the setting sun dance on the rippling surface of the sea, casting a soft glow across my face. The salty breeze carries a refreshing coolness, contrasting with the lingering heat of dusk.
Raising my glass with a hint of a mysterious smile, I speak up:
"To the liberation of the Hypergate. Woooh!"
A delicate chime rings out as our glasses meet, and I bring the champagne to my lips, savoring the fine bubbles popping on my tongue. My gaze wanders briefly to the horizon, where the sky melts into the ocean, but I can sense Ova's curiosity fixed on me.
When he asks what I do for Lyssara, my lips curve into a small, knowing grin. I set my glass back into the speederboat's holder, crossing my legs with feline grace, my body naturally adjusting to the vessel's gentle sway over the water.
"Me?" I reply softly, letting the word hang in the air.
"I'm her healer."
I pause, allowing the wind and the waves to fill the silence, enjoying the momentary suspense. Then, in a lower, more confidential tone, I add:
"And her sniper."
I observe Ova's reaction carefully people tend to respond in all sorts of ways. Some laugh nervously, while others tense up. But him? He appears genuinely intrigued. I maintain eye contact, looking for something deeper in his expression.
Leaning back against the armrest, I let the wind brush against my skin, my hair tangling lightly in the breeze.
"Of course, I'm well paid for it," I continue, swirling the stem of my glass between my fingers, my voice casual but deliberate. "Mistress Lyssara always takes good care of me."
I leave those words lingering with a deliberate ambiguity before adding, with a playful spark in my voice:
"Yes, I work for her. She is my employer. I have a regular contract with her. "
The horizon catches my attention again, bathed in the golden glow of the setting sun that reflects across the water, creating an almost surreal scene. I notice Ova nudging the throttle, and the speederboat picks up speed. I welcome the rush, enjoying the sense of freedom that comes with riding these waves.
Turning back to him, a mischievous smile tugs at my lips.
"And you, Governor and mineral baron…" I tilt my head slightly, eyes gleaming with curiosity. "Does that mean you spend your days signing paperwork and counting crates of minerals?"
My tone is light, almost teasing, but there's something earnest beneath the surface. I genuinely want to see if there's more to him if he's hiding a different side behind his obvious wealth and status. So I wait, curious to discover if Ova is someone truly interesting… or just another self-important man who believes his fortune alone makes him worth noticing. This scene is so romantic, i appreciate the speed effect by the speederboard.
