Question Should we ban all real world mentions, hard line in the sand?

Seems unnecessary imo.

The Americus, Brittanica and other mando clans were made to counter Australis and people had a tonne of fun with their satire clans, they don't harm anyone, if anything they offer a humourous reads and if we're not here to enjoy ourselves and the things we read, what are we here for?

Ban? Nay.
Discourage it in some sort of mention. Aye.

Americus, Australis, and whatever other clans exist are just proof of how willing people are to beat dead horses. Using "This is America" as a title shows an uninspired or uncaring attitude to thread naming, but it shouldn't cause a site-wide ban. I mean, I would approve of the ban just to watch things burn, but that's not really a valid reason.

I personally think titling a thread with RL knowledge is fine. I know the issue is the use of the word America, not that it's a song. But I don't see why the title has to be completely in-universe. The IC characters can't see the titles, only the ooc writers. The characters aren't the ones saying the word, so it's not immersion breaking, imo.

PS: McYodas sounds like someone fried up Grogu into McNuggets.

This starts murking the line of inspiration from rl.

Art is inspired by experiences we have and some can express that less subtly than others, that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Just means some inspiration or references from rl are more in your face. Start banning that and people start getting concerned that they can't introduce ideas they have because they might be too irl related, or related to other franchises.

I'm seeing the usual silly takes, lack of understanding, people saying "he's gonna ban all pop songs? Blahgrhghrhgh", and the stealth attacks to ban anime avatars (we're getting there, stay strong my brother).

It's very apparent there's no productivity to glean from conversation, I feel like we'd all become dumber for it, but I really just want to ask this outloud.

5. Bible references that have been used in character as code in an invasion

The fuck are you on about lmfao

did nobody see this guy post this lmfao

Bro are you typing in code to the other omega christians on this board, you are legally required to tell me

I think I’m just realizing how cringe all of these things are. I’m too self involved trying to deal with my own terrible and/or good writing.

If it doesn’t break your immersion and it makes the people happy, why not let it slide? We already have some checks and balances. Right? Or don’t let it slide. Idk if this’ll affect anything I do.

I can't believe there's a whole thread being critical about a song title as a thread title. 'Uninspired', 'cringe', 'uncaring'. Its not that deep lmao, why are there 35 posts, and why are there people thinking a thread title is a judge of quality. when did everyone become a best selling author

I originally squinted when I saw the thread title, I won't lie. But then I realised it doesn't really matter. Thread titles are a thing for us the writers. Not for the characters. It's not like there's going to be a namedrop of the title during the thread. (At least I hope not.)

Honestly the idea of banning all real world mentions still bothers me. I've seen it been used on very small things. I feel like it doesn't break my immersion to describe something as being similar to something in the real world but that might be a personal thing.

At the end of the day, people will always find a way to be cringe but I don't see naming a thread after a song being that bad

If the abyss stares at you, don't blink

... and here I thought many of those same responses were defending you (in a manner of speaking)... my bad! :p
