There it was, Taeli thought, concealing the smile that wanted to form at the girl's admission. She knew it was an inevitable confrontation, but to hear it now and not later down the road... yes Alina wanted power and prestige. More importantly, perhaps, she wanted to avoid attempts on her life once her mother decided to start sending assassins and not just forcing her into situations.
"Easier said than done, my apprentice," she vocally said. "Your mother is a respected Lady while you are still an acolyte. It will take a measure of stealth and guile to even infiltrate your family estate. You will have one shot at such a task, and if you fail, there won't be any way to save you from your mother's wrath. I am pleased that you desire to start building your own power base, and starting with your family assets is always advisable."
Taeli gestured for Alina to follow her, the lightsaber blade flickering away and the hilt retracting so she could clip it upon her belt. As they walked, she would continue saying, "It takes a very long time to build a power base that will give you such independence. Many acolytes and knights, though they start forming their own forces and bases, remain subservient to a patron. Typically their power base forms a portion of their master's until they have grown sufficiently and become a Master themselves. A two way street as the saying goes; as you grow, you're able to draw upon the wealth and resources and personnel of your Master, and the Master gains a branch off their power base and is able to continue their apprentice's education."
They came to a stop at one of the hangars, Taeli opening the door to reveal a new type of starship, sleek in its black hull plating and influenced by the Sith aesthetic of course.
"This is the newest ship produced by my company, the Lumiya-class Infiltrator," she said, her voice taking on an almost sales pitch tone. "Advanced comms and listening systems, a full stealth suite including a new cloaking device that can even hide you from Force senses, new armaments designed by the company, and plenty of room for a few crew members and a starfighter."
She turned to her apprentice.
"And for all the work you've accomplished so far, it is yours."
