Kay-Larr

Sphaera Tea Company Owner
"Well you're welcome here in one of the guest rooms until you find some place. There aren't really a lot of travellers that visit my shoppe." And that was the truth of it. Most of her customers were locals, and those that weren't stayed in her shoppe for never longer a few minutes.

As for feeling as though he was robbing her, Kay shook her head with an amused grin. "You're not robbing me at all, especially over Sapir tea." Her loader droid would have interfered anyways as he always did if she had felt threatened.

Kay returned to her stool and picked up her cup to have another sip of her tea. She listened as Myles Davorak Myles Davorak described the current condition of the Galaxy. Trade routes and embargos were her main focus back when she ran the Commenor Systems Alliance, and she helped to ensure that everything kept moving. There was very little piracy back then.

But that was a lifetime ago. She couldn't do anything about it now. From what Myles was telling her, anything that she did would have as little of an impact as her slave liberations did on the slave trade as a whole. And none of the superpowers would listen to her anyways. She was a nobody. Yet so far her shipments of products were safe from any of that turmoil, which was a good thing.

And where would she go if she had to leave? Kay opened her mouth to speak, held her breath for a moment and then shook her head as she shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know where I'd go. Further out, maybe? Into wild space? I'm sure that there has to be pockets of safe space out there somewhere."

Ned-V made his appearance then, coming out from the back room. He tilted his head to the side as he stared at Myles.

Kay turned her head and smiled at him. "Hi V. Finished already? This is my old friend Myles. He'll be staying here in one of the guest rooms. You can have a break if you'd like."

The loader droid gave her a thumbs up before he walked by them to the front of the shoppe, opened the door and went outside.

After watching him go, Kay had another sip of her tea and returned her attention back to Myles. "V likes to take his breaks outside in the forest. I often find him sitting down, feeding some of the wildlife, and he always comes back with a little bundle of flowers. Isn't that sweet?"

Myles bowed his head with a smile. He couldn't argue with the lady.
"Well if I am ever imposing, you just say the word. I can also help around the shoppe if need be. I am no stranger to work. You know that."

After explaining the current troubles of the Galaxy, Myles thought that maybe he could have been more hopeful in explaining the current events. She asked and wanted the truth like anyone else. The Galaxy is in dire need of changing, it doesn't take a pit droid to realize that.

Years ago, Myles used wars and uprisings as a way to find work. He would navigate toward the locations of potential jobs and start advertising himself. Now he was getting too old to fight in other's wars. Altiria was a beautiful planet so far from what he had seen.

"Wild Space eh? You know, when I was a little boy I dreamt that I would eventually be carving my way to Wild Space to discover planets and locations I never thought imaginable. Settling out a frontier of sorts. I have heard rumors and stories of some planets out in Wild Space that I would like to visit one day perhaps."

Realizing that he was rambling, he cut to the chase and spit out what he was originally trying to say
"If things ever get bad, I would be more than happy to take you and your business out to Wild Space and take you to the safest point."

Seeing the Loader Droid wasn't something he expected. He usually saw some in the Industrial Districts, but given the nature of Kay's work, a Loader Droid would be invaluable. Seeing Kay dismiss the droid for a break brought a smile to his face.
"That's very interesting. Nice to see even a droid can enjoy the simpler things in life. Maybe I should get a droid while I am settling down. An extra pair of hands and someone to talk to would be nice to have."

He took a sip of the Sapir tea and the warm feeling started flowing through him all over again.

"An extra pair of hands wouldn't be too bad...." Kay pondered on the though. She did have hired help before, taking in a former addict. But that didn't go so well, especially with some of the ingredients of her tea. That was partly why she hired Ned-V.

Myles Davorak Myles Davorak regarded her choice of where to escape to with childhood dreams of his own. No doubt she'd have to ask him about such places later on. When she was younger, she figured planets out in wild space was just a myth.

Of course now she knew better.

"Thank you. It's appreciated." Kay sipped her tea, hoping that Myles was someone that she could count on. But she was quite familiar with something coming up that would change everything entirely, causing those close to her to move on. She hated that, but it was a part of life. At least her shoppe was a constant for her.

"V is wonderful. He doesn't have the vocalizer to speak, but we still communicate. I've always treated droids as equals. He deserves breaks. He even has his own room. Sure he doesn't sleep like we do, but that doesn't mean that he doesn't deserve rest." That's the way that it's been for Kay for as long as she could remember, which was probably brought on by her sentiments on anti-slavery. Droids could be seen as slaves too, and they didn't deserve to be. "Which type of droid would you get?"

Myles was glad that she was considering his offer. He wanted to earn his share no matter where he went. He could thank his mother for that bit of personality.
"Of course, my pleasure Kay." He said with a smile.

As Myles watched Ned-V walk away from the shoppe he smiled knowing that Kay had a good heart. Not many treated droids well, and they were regarded as servants.

"I agree. When I was in the service, I was around astromechs when we would prep the starfighters and I treated them no different than I would treat my fellow soldiers. They deserve rest and oil baths regularly."

He was caught off guard by her question, he never really thought too much into what kind of droid he would get but he would like one that was more logical and communicative.
"That's a good question....perhaps an analysis droid or a service droid of some kind. Something to help me move cargo on/off my ship and possess a vocabulator and enough data to provide information to me.....if such a droid exists."

Now it was time for him to follow up and he would stay along the same topic.
"Got any recommendations? Or better yet, have you had any other droids besides Ned-V?

Kay finished off her tea and set her cup aside. It was nice to hear that Myles Davorak Myles Davorak regarded droids in the same manner that she did. There had been plenty in her past that viewed them merely as property. Even some of her customers thought as much, so she liked to keep Ned-V in the back during opening hours. Or let him wander during his breaks.

"A service droid might do you good. And many of them can speak basic and other languages. Not nearly as much as a protocol droid, mind you, but those haven't the strength that you're looking for."

She nodded sadly as he asked her if she had had any other droids. She did. And she loved her. "I had a little Astromech when I was a Senator named Mrs. Nesbitt. Oh she was such a joy and she knew perfectly how to make my tea. Unfortunately she was crushed by a Sith Lord...." Kay still recalled the droid's screams as she was reduced to a small metal ball.

"But enough about that. Would you like to see your room? Or would you like to collect your things first? Either way is fine with me."
