Sinner's Despair and New Beginnings

As the attractive duo filled with tensions and violence and put together by circumstance rounded the rock they would find their 'monster'. And he would put up another 'roar'. Except, rather than a true monster or roar it was a Besalisk with quite a powerful snore. Passed out on the ground was one Qun Vell armed a couple of folded saberstaffs at his belt, and bottles of drinks littered around him. More than just the stench of alcohol wafting off his breath there were stains across his shirt of what had to be one of unforgettable excursions that one never remembered.

As khaleel hit the rocks with a thud, it seemed that was enough to wake up the drunken 'beast'.

"Who, wha-,where?" Qun arose, then immediately put a hand to his head and began to fall back to his laying position. "Ugh. My head." He exclaimed. The hangover was fierce. But what was that he saw when he got up? He thought that was Spark, cradled in the arm of some rougish devil. Forcing himself up with a brutish "Ugggggggggh" as he did so he looked over and found what he thought he saw.

"Spark. What are you doing with that rapp-scallion?" He said, putting a hand on his forehead, then another over his eyes. He wasn't in the mood for things like 'light' right now.

A squeal left her lips as they flew threw the air a second time. His body offered more cushioning again. She almost felt bad for knocking him in the face earlier. Almost. She groaned.

"Darrhhvit, I'm gonna feel this tomorrow." She pushed blond locks of hair away from her face, hard to say if they were hers or his. She heard a different kind of roar, a familiar roar in the background but not before a huge rumbling and sucking sound. Lithe-digits that were only meant for keyboards and datapads grabbed the man's prized rifle and brought it up G.I. Jane style - rather, G.I. Spark style.

"Khaleel," she screamed and jammed down the trigger as the flying worm beast jumped from the sand to try and knock them off the rock.

One shot hit and another went wide as she became distracted, still half entangled with the rapscallion. "Qun?"

------------------------

Climbed back up to my feet and started going for my r- right, girl had taken the rifle and started shooting up the place, most of her shots went wide though she hit a few times. Feth. No time to worry about that right now, ammo was only a worry when ya was arrive to enjoy it.

So instead I pulled out my revolver, Tenloss construction, beautiful piece of ambassador ass. Thing was my most prized possession by a long shot, might even be more my soul than my ship - though I would never tell Vaud that, guy loves his ship. But this thing has been with me ever since I stole it from Jimmy’s warehouse, can’t really get closer to a gun than that.

Started shooting at the worm, first few shots went wide, took me only a second to realize that I didn’t have the force here. Couldn’t adjust trajectory, that was how bad my reliance was, even after all this time it was my natural backup thing.

Tearful reunions later, shooting now.’ I shouted, while trying to kill the thing.

There was much shooting. And a giant worm of some such. Qun felt like crap, but he sluggishly stood up, then tried to use telekinesis to pick up the bottles. Yet, it didn't work. Was he not drunk? Wait, he wasn't, he was just hung over. Feth.

"I . . . I got it" He said a bit sloppily, then detached a lightsaber from his belt, unfolded it to it's saberstaff length, then ignited one side. He looked at the Worm, wriggling and sandy and terrifing and such, and held out a hand forward, his lightsaber hand back. A sudden motion forward in his arm, shoulder and torso. The lightsaber was hucked at the sandworm as if it were a poorly thrown Javelin, yet somehow it made it's mark. The worm cried out in pain, wriggled a little, then looked back at the trio as if unperturbed.

Kark

The monster extended out of the sand as it opened it's mouth, encasing Qun whole.

She blinked and stared. "QUUUUUUUN," scream ripped free from her throat as the beast swallowed her best friend and the one key to some of her memories. It was hard to believe that a scream could be so loud coming from someone so gangly.

"NOOOOO!"

She untangled herself from Khaleel, brushing his knee past her hip and accidentally pressing her elbow off his spleen. Staggering up to the beast without really thinking, she hefted up Qun's fallen saber staff. Face turned red with effort as the beast looked down at her and a glob of drool fell on her blond-hair.

Man that saberstaff was heavy.

With shaking arms she went to slice it across the worm's stomach, trying to judge where Qun's toes would be. Hopefully she wouldn't slice them off.

Here was the part where the scoundrel slash outlaw was feeling awkward for not having a lightsaber on hand. That’s the thing with being who he was, it was all good and well to be all edgy all the time, but man… in situations like these Khaleel missed the feel of the heavy saber in his hands - not that he could actually operate one, he probably would have cut a toe off or something.

But it was all about the idea of it all, Khal was about to go and try to help out with all of this, until his eyes caught something new. Forms, silhouettes approaching them from the distance, they were running and now that Khaleel actually saw ‘em? Well, they didn’t look all too friendly either.

Yo eh… lightning bolt.’ the scoundrel managed to say underneath his breath, as he scrambled up, grabbing hold of his rifle again and aiming down. ‘You better hurry up, because we got more problems coming for us.’

Unfortunately for Qun, Spark's aim at this particular moment was not exemplary. While she had been able to penetrate the beast with his saber, she'd also managed to find his toes. Or, what was left of his toes now rather. Even through the sandworm's thick hide the blond duo would be able to hear the besalisk's screams. Qun would ignite his second lightsaber from within the beast, aiming in the opposite direction that spark's blade was coming from. At a glance it seemed the safest option. Hopefully they hadn't moved since Spark ignited her lightsaber.

"I'm gonna get outta here." He said. Truthfully he wasn't sure if he'd be able to get out or not, but he'd prefer Spark not think that. Might run around only to be comforted by some no good criminal rougish character. Couldn't have that now could we?

The worm roared at her incision about as loudly as Qun. She dropped the saber staff like she was burned with fire. The giant beast swayed from side to side, threatening to collapse. She stumbled back.

"Oh gawwww-Qun, QUN DID I HURT YOU?" She felt really close to Qun even if her memories with him were a bit fuzzy. Strange.

She stumbled back as the worm continued to sway erratically, her back hit against Khaleel's chest. Glasses went askew on her face. It felt like she ran into a boulder. "Oomph. Alright rocks, what do you see?" She quickly fixed her glasses and discreetly gave the sniper his space again, a worried eye remaining on the writhing worm and hopefully the appearance of Qun.

That was the thing ‘bout being him, where other people were mostly happy and content when the shet wasn’t going down, when this were calm and relaxed, Khaleel thrived on the action. The adrenaline coursing through his veins, the distinct feeling of fighting for your life and others? It was like a drug to him, perhaps slightly less of a drug and more of a- well, you know.

Point was, the scoundrel didn’t seem perturbed at all at the sight of close to five or maybe six demons running at them. What did perturb him was Spark crashing into him and him missing his target by an inch, because of it. Khal looked annoyed at her, before resuming sight.

Got five, no six entities incoming.’ the lad said, correcting himself as the sixth one came into view. ‘Ain’t gonna be pretty, get your friend out.’ he’d give ‘em some time, firing into the mass. Wouldn’t do a lot, but hey.

Can’t have everything in life.

Qun could hear Spark's question, but right now he preferred not to answer it. She probably wouldn't like the answer, and he didn't want to get her sad. Aside from him just not wanting to get her sad, he also didn't know what other troubles they might have had to deal with outside the worm. So he kept silent and continued carving his way out of the worm's . . . whatever he was in. Eventually a Qun-sized hole was made, and he walked out. The worm collapsed somewhere, Qun not entirely sure of it's path but hoping neither [member="Spark Finn"] or the other blonde [member="Khaleel Malvern"] were in the way. As he turned around he kind of waddled a bit, finding it hard to balance with the lack of toes. If Spark was watching she probably would have noticed his lack of grace, but she might have assumed he was just drunk.

"How can I help?" He asked, fighting the urge to run over to Spark and give her a hug. It was odd, he didn't remember them close but they felt like they should have been. But he was covered in sand worm slime, the sniper man looked really focused and Qun got the feeling something important was happening, so he waited for now.

The worm crashed to the ground in front of them and made a naturally, slimy wall of defense against the incoming "Six?" The squeak left Spark's throat. She was oblivious to the sniper's glare.

Easy there, Rocks.

Relief washed over her small form as she saw the besalisk emerge. Face quickly puckered into a frown. "You're limping!" She closed the gap and offered her giant friend a bony-shoulder to lean on if he needed it. Stomach lurched as she saw his toes and the smell of his worm slime hit her nose.

"Uhh guys?" There were six crazies coming, depending on how many were shot down but there was one
NPC standing behind them that looked like Arum Izy. Staring. Real creepy like. And he looked like he was crying. And yet, Spark had this strong urge to touch him.

As if under a trance, she began walking forward with or without Qun, depending on is he took that shoulder. She would brush past Khaleel on the way.

The guy simply assumed the two were following his suggestion and were moving away, too focused through the scope he wouldn’t be getting any other hints. Instead he was trying to pick off the monsters, wasn’t all that succesful though, didn’t really matter where he shot ‘em, because they would stand right back up again.

Head? It exploded, they would lay there in a black puddle for a while, before standing right back up again. Same went for the knees, gut and other objects of extremities.

Khaleel kept shooting, stubbornly. He’d give miss Give ‘Em Hell and her friend some time to get out to safety, before attempting to bug out himself. Was the only reasonable thing to do, didn’t matter how much blood he had on his hands, Khal hadn’t forgotten the lessons Vaud had tried to instill upon him.

Remember, Khal. There is a fine line between scoundrel and scumbag kid.

The scoundrel gulped, didn’t cry and kept shooting. He’d make someone proud today.

Qun tried not to fall/lean into the technopathic apprentice as he wobbled around but as she offered a shoulder he found he couldn't deny it. In fact, he literally couldn't deny it, kind of landing on her very bony shoulder that was poking into his body right now rather painfully. He'd grin and bear it, while trying to put as much weight as he could to the other side of his body. He was somewhat afraid of Spark falling under his weight, and with something like six somethings on their tail he'd prefer not to do that.

"I'll be fine." Qun said, though he grimaced as he did so, the pain of stepping with toes missing becoming readily apparent. As a big brother you kind of had to let your little sisters and brothers see you struggle as little as possible. Keep 'em thinking your strong and all that. Except, Qun was an only child, far as he knew. And even if he wasn't his sister wouldn't be a little bony human girl would it? No, no it wouldn't. Wouldn't be that bad though, least not this little blond.

"Uhh, guys?" Qun heard Spark as and he was put a bit back to reality, as she began to walk, him walking with her by virtue of them sharing a shoulder.

"Um, Spark, who is that guy?" He asked as they drew closer. He then yelled at the blonde guy behind him. "Hey new guy, who's the other new guy?"

The man or apparition beckoned her forward. She trudged forward, sweat tricking down her pale, brow as she supported Qun. She felt like a wretch already. Hand reached forward as she went to poke Arum Izy against the chest.

But before she did, she looked back at Khaleel.

"C'mon Ace, I can't explain it but I think you're supposed to come wi--," finger moved forward and connected with the not-apparition's chest.

She and the besalisk suddenly disappeared from Khaleel's word and ended up in the land of the witches.

Click.

That was the sound of Khal’s rifle running out of ammo, but he wasn’t all too pissed off about that. He finished his job, delaying the zeds until the gal and the lizard could get away, both of ‘em called out for him, asking him to come with them. But Khaleel wasn’t ready for that, might never be ready to return to the land of the living, not after what he had done.

A sad shake of the head signified this decision, he dropped his rifle and started running - the other direction, a soft tick permeated from the rocks he had been standing a few moments ago. His last nade, hopefully that would keep the monsters at bay long enough for him to flee.

Good to see both of ya again, Finn, Vell.’ Khal mumbled to himself as he ran away from freedom and redemption. ‘But I have never been one to follow the supposed to’s and the you should’s.’
