GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Siru
  • Designation: Non-Sentient
  • Homeworld: Thral
  • Language: Mow mow mow
  • Average Lifespan: 15-25 Years
  • Estimated Population: Planetary
  • Description:
The Siru are a sight to behold even to those who despise nature and all of it's holdings.

Closely resembling other felines in the galaxy such as Nexu and Hrosma Tiger's, the Siru have a great loping sort of stride that seems to fall within itself. They are extremely graceful creatures, their movements smooth and oddly elegant. Their tails and indeed their entire bodies are coated in a thick colorful fur that stretches across their entire being, each and every single hair rustling with an odd sort of constant flow.

The most unique and eye-catching thing about the Siru is their colorful glow. Bright stripes of the Siru are a wash of color, exhibit a bright light that catches ones eye from dozens of meters away. This glow saturates them and varies in color. The intensity of the light changes upon the Siru's mood, becoming brighter the more relaxed and at peace one of the creatures is.

Uniquely, a Siru's pelt continues to glow for many months even after the creatures death. This has created a market for their pelts within the galaxy, though obviously it comes with it's own dangers that should not be understated.

PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Type I
  • Average height of adults: 1-1.75m
  • Average length of adults: 3-4m
  • Skin color: Blue, Green, Red, Yellow
  • Hair color: Blue, Green, Red, Yellow
  • Distinctions:
The greatest and simplest distinction of the Siru are their bright glowing pelts.

This 'feature' of the beast is something that most are aware of, even if they have never visited Thral. The unique and beautiful bio-luminescence created by a Siru is a unique aspect of their evolution. Originally coming into being to ward off predators, the glow now acts as a way to find a mate and indeed a way for the Siru to find their favorite meals within the dark nights of Thral.

These colorful and even beautiful pelts shift and change in brightness, the color of each Siru never changing from birth. The pelt of a Siru is highly prized within the underground markets of the Galaxy, the bio-luminescent glow remaining for some months even after the creatures death.
  • Races: N/A
  • Strengths:
[+]Toxic Kitty: The Siru are one of the few species on Thral that do not actively seek the death of everything and everyone around them. That being said, they are still incredibly dangerous. The Siru's fur is covered in an extremely deadly neuro-toxin. Every single bristle, every single hair on it's body produces and creates this poison, making touching a Siru an extremely bad idea. This neuro-toxin is potent enough to kill most species within about ten minutes of contact though it is not always deadly. One can counteract the results by washing the effected area with water(or another liquid), depending on how long the toxin is applied this can completely nullify or reduce the effects. If one is lucky enough to remove the toxin they will suffer from one or several of the following symptoms; Numbness, Paralysis, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, blindness, and extreme cotton mouth.
[+]Quick Kitty: Though many Predators on Thral cannot hunt the Siru due to their toxic fur, there are still more than a few that can eat the creatures. This has lead the Siru to lead careful lives, and thus have developed very quick instincts and reactions. They are fast creatures, moving much more quickly than their size and weight might hint at.
  • Weaknesses:
[-]Glowing Kitty: Though the Siru are indescribably beautiful to most beings, they are also unfortunately walking traffic lights. Anyone and everyone with a pair of eyes can easily see and track a Siru, and this includes predators native and non-native to Thral. The Siru cannot get away easily from natural predators, and even worse their beauty has made them prized in all the galaxy. A single Siru pelt can fetch Tens of thousands of credits on the black market, and poachers will often tempt the dangers of Thral to hunt a single Siru pack and make it rich.
[-]Wet Kitty: Though the Siru have nothing against water, it is rather dangerous for them to enter it for any prolonged period. The Neuro-toxin that coats their fur can be washed off by applications of water, which renders them...well tasty little morsels for anyone or anything around them. The Toxin is easily washed away with a single soaking of water, though if the creature is still alive it will simply produce new toxin to replace what has been washed away.

CULTURE
  • Diet: Herbivore
  • Communication:
Mow mow mow, purrrr, mow mow, ROAAAAAAAAAAAAAR!
  • Technology level: N/A
  • Religion/Beliefs: N/A
  • General behavior:
The Siru are unlike many other species that can be found in Thral. They are not predators, nor are they active hunters or even lazy scavengers. They are instead one of the few Herbivores that can be found on the Death World.

The behaviors of the Siru are not any sort of mystery, and in fact they are one of the easiest creature on Thral to 'figure out'. Their drive, their only drive, is to survive, eat their favorite food, and ensure the safety of their pack.

Usually roaming in groups of eight to twelve Siru, the beasts walk around the jungles and plains of Thral searching out their favorite foods. Left mostly undisturbed by the various Predators of Thral, the Siru seek to only survive and eat. They are by most accounts incredibly lazy beings, spending most of the day simply laying around and napping. At night they forage the grounds around them, utilizing the great glow from their fur to spot and consume their favorite plants.

Siru are uniquely resistant to the various toxins found in Fauna on Thral, and it is theorized their own deadly poison is produced in part by incorporating these toxins into themselves.

Unlike many of the creatures on Thral the Siru are peaceful and do not shy away from interaction with other living beings. Unfortunately this has made them a large target for poachers as well as the few predators on that planet that can eat them without worry of their dangerous fur.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The Siru are one of the most well documented creatures that Exist on Thral.

Though the planet itself is extremely difficult to traverse and survive on, there are many in the galaxy who see opportunity upon it. One of the chief reasons for this are the Siru themselves. These beautiful and majestic animals are something completely amazing to witness in person. They are graceful, majestic, and outright jaw-dropping to behold in the wild.

More than that however they are valuable.

The glowing fur of a Siru is undeniably beautiful, a fact that not even the ugliest of Hutt's will ignore. Due to this almost immediately upon their discovery the Siru were hunted and skinned by the few who would actually brave Thral itself. Through this act of cruelty it was discovered that a Siru's pelt would keep it's luminescent quality even after death, decaying only months after the beasts passing.

This means that not only are the Siru a live commodity, but their extremely beautiful fur can be turned into coats, boots, and other articles of clothing.

A siru pelt quickly became extremely valued on the black-market, with a single skin going for anything from seventy to a hundred thousand credits based on quality and condition. The largest and most well preserved skins have been known to go for as much as two hundred thousands.

Of course, this has created a sort of market for the skins. The only issue with this is that Siru are still incredibly dangerous to hunt. Not only are the creatures capable of defending themselves, but anyone hunting the beasts must brave the Deathworld of Thral. Due to this rarity the pelts only become more expensive, and thus a poacher can make a fortune which could last a lifetime from only a single successful hunt.

Still, due to the dangers involved, few ever even attempted to hunt one of these creatures and the ones that do often end up dead.

Looks good for the most part. The only issue is the all-affecting, almost-instantaneous, no-known-antidote toxin. There's simply too much potential for abuse in that.

Please provide some manner of caveat besides the water.

I have edited it so that the Toxin can be washed off after application and has lesser effects within a few moments.

I believe this is a fairly simple middle ground and will allow one to counter the toxin as they could begin to feel some of the effects and then quickly wash the effected area to...well not die.
