Public Sit And Stay A While

"Eh...Dating has never really appealed to me after Colette. She was great and everything but...It made me realise I have a lot of things to fix about myself first. Decide what things are worth changing and what's worth keeping the same."

Colette had taught Shan there was no point rushing into relationships. Whilst Shan and Colette had somewhat simple similairties, they had massively disagreed on some major things. Having a house, their roles in the Galaxy. He needed to find someone he had more things in common with, or someone else he had felt a pull towards.

"I couldn't think about dating in college anyway. Most of the people there were just regular people. It'd be unfair for me to think about dating one of them. Dating a Jedi is different to dating a regular person...as much as I wish I was just regular sometimes."

He sighed to himself at that, folding his arms as he leaned back against his chair, letting his eyes glance around to take in the people around them.

"Whether I like it or not, whoever I end up with will probably need to be someone who can handle themselves. Otherwise I'll feel like I have to protect them too much...."

"Sounds like you're in a better place to actually date someone now, if that's something you want to do anyway." It was the freedom to choose that was the most important. Though someone who could handle themselves? Kahlil smirked just a bit as he sipped his drink. Valery Noble Valery Noble could certainly handle herself. It was just another part of why he loved her as much as he did.

"I hope you do. It's a trial on it's own, but one worth everything."

"Trust me. I do want to. I just don't want to come off as...desperate and go looking. If they show up, that's fine. If they don't, that's also fine."

Shan sighed to himself, as he rubbed the back of his neck, keeping his focus on their surroundings instead of looking towards Kahlil. This wasn't exactly a topic of conversation that Shan enjoyed. Loneliness was something Shan tried to stray away from. It's why he tried to surround himself with so many people so he wouldn't feel alone.

"...It doesn't help that I've always held out hope for a fruitless endeavour. I hope that I'll be able to find...someone specific. But I haven't seen her since I was a Padawan."

He was keeping it vague, but Kahlil probably should have been able to figure out who it was, considering Shan had brought up the Aruzan to him and Valery plenty of times. Shan also knew it was a selfish endeavour to have and that he should move on...but hey. That was easier said than done.
