Sith Justice or Wrath of the Sith

Bastion
City outskirts
Cantina backroom

Vengeance waited in the back room of the Cantina quietly sipping his drink. He had to say he had enjoyed his time on Bastion so far. It had definitely kept him busy. However there was still some unfinished business that weighed heavily on the back on his mind. It had kept him up more than a few nights and needed to be dealt with.

During his short time with the Ascendency he had been keeping a close eye on the upper and comers. Knights who had demonstrated skill and Acolytes who showed promise. In that time two had stuck out in his mind. One of them a Knight and the other an Acolyte with wisdom beyond her years. Both were good choices but in the end he had chosen the Knight to do a special job. One that need to be done quickly and quietly.

Fort hat reason he was sitting in a Cantina wearing a suit instead of the Temple wearing robes. That left no record of the meeting to take place. If it failed it never happened. If it succeeded only the people that needed to know would hear of it's success. It was that simple.

Dressed in the common garments of a regular citizen, as was the request outlined in the brief memo, I arrived to the cantina and took a seat at the bar. My contact, whom I knew personally was already here; but it was suggested by him in his memo that we "play it cool". So I ordered a drink, taking several casual pulls from the tankard; keeping my eyes on the other patrons. It was rare for a Circle Lord to attend a cantina, so I assumed what he wanted to speak to me about was for my ears only, so until I felt it satisfactory for me to approach him I would people watch.

Finishing my drink, and "politely" shrugging off advancements from drunken male patrons, I removed myself from the bar and strolled around until I finally reached the backroom. For sake of appearances, I gave the Lord a small peck on his lips, then took my seat opposite him. Ordering another round when the waitress came by, I waited for the woman to leave before saying in code, "I hear the predicted thunderstorms will pass us afterall." The phrase was to ensure the Lord that the cantina was empty of any potential spies, or Force Hunters, and that we could conduct our business safely.

After taking a sip of my new drink, I continued, "You require my services, sir."

Vengeance waited until [member="Satia the Cruel"] took a seat.

"Do you know why you are here?"

It was both a simple and a complicated question. More than anything he wanted to see why she thought she was here. The state of mind of Sith was a fascinating thing to explore.

"Tell me something. What is your goal? What do you most covet?"

Vengeance chuckled waiting on her to answer. As he did he stood moving over to the door and locking it show they would not be disturbed. He then moved back taking his seat.

Blinking my eyes, I was on the verge of laughing. If I was here, it meant one of two things; either I was required to investigate someone and bring them to justice, or I was here because someone needed to be removed; cause the Circle Lords despised getting their hands dirty. Staring at the man across me, I said, "If I knew why I was here, there would be no need for secrecy."

The second question was almost a loaded one. I had goals, even ambitions, but like all Sith, including myself, I craved power. But I wanted something more, something concrete and worthy. "My goals are meaningless to the Ascendancy's cause. If my goals were noteworthy, I would not be here supporting them with my life."

When the doors were locked and he returned to his seat, I took his hands in mine. "Power is insignificant to what I crave. Knowledge, I crave knowledge, sir."

Vengeance chuckled at her.

"The need for secrecy has nothing to do with how much you know and more to do with what I want everyone else to know."

He paused taking a sip of his drink.

"All Sith put their own goals first..........even in the Ascendency. Do not be so foolish as to think different. Most of us in the Circle were all members of different orders before the Ascendency. I for example was a member of the One Sith for awhile and old habits die hard. Just because they are not open about it is no indication of what happens outside of prying eyes."

He smiled shrugging his shoulders.

"Anyway you are here because you have proven yourself a capable Sith and I have a task that I need completed. Interested?"

Now it was my turn to chuckle. "Oh, Lord, I do indeed have goals. They are not just aligned with the Ascendancy's broad view of the galaxy, as you have aptly brought to my attention regarding the other's ambitions, thus they are not worth mentioning. So until further time deems appropriate, I wait patiently for future events to unfold." Gripping the half-full tankard, I leaned back in my chair harboring dark secrets, slowly taking a small sip of the water-downed ale. I'm loyal to the Ascendancy first and foremost, but my ambitions could very well be misinterpreted along the boundaries of betrayal; so until I gathered enough support from my peers, and took a seat on the Circle myself, I needed to dance cautiously in my dealings.

"A task?" Now we were getting down to business. My life choice as a Sith Inquisitor kept me busy, but simultaneously earned me a reputation of both reliable and successful. Though, not all I did reflected on the Agency, and have in the past accepted "tasks" one could never find on record. Secrets made the cogs of the galaxy work, but not in the traditional way. What others asked me to do they called secrets, I called them something more worthy; favors owed to me. And yet again, I was on the verge of adding one more favor.

"I'm quite interested."

Vengeance nodded.

"Good. As I know you are aware there has been a push from inside the Circle to..............."

He paused taking a minute to chose his words.

"Educate, convert, or eradicate rogue Sith. This is where you come in."

Vengeance pulled out a datapad and set it on the table.

"I have a particular candidate I would like you to locate."

Vengeance hit a button and a mock up of the target appeared in holographic form. He left it up as he finished speaking.

"Still interested?"
