Sith or bust

He heard something about Jedi when he saw it rising out of the ground. Sure he had heard tales of it from outlaws who were dropping off left overs to the hutts. But to see it in person was something else. The mighty spires tearing into the sky. It was impressive indeed. He stood slack jaw as he heard his new master beckon him forward, and as such he willed his legs to move.

Without removing a single eye from the Temple he realized the awe from meeting his first Sith was starting to lessen. "You know I got so caught up in all this I hardly know you."

[member="Darth Raven"]

When he mentioned not knowing her Raven still walked without looking back to him as she spoke. "And it shall remain that way until I decide otherwie. You are my student, and I the master. You only need to know one crucial rule: respect. You earn rnough of that and you will learn a little more about me." They came to the front of the temple where the guards stood to the side and bowed as she entered, glancing at [member="Varen Laurentiis"] as he walked behind her. They ascended the stairs before enetering where the inside of the temple seemed darker than outside. All sorts of servants and acolytes walked about as they continued inside.

"Very well, then how would you like to be addressed at the least?" He had to many questions he knew he couldnt ask then.

He felt unworthy walking behind her. This morning when he woke up he hardly had an idea there was a lick of Force in him and here he was walking into the sacred Sith Temple. But yet he felt it again here, that strange tugging, to everyone in this building. As if connected by some strange string.

He was curious as to the going ons inside the temple but kept his eyes mostly on his new master as to avoid eye contact with anyone.

[member="Darth Raven"]

"Master will do." she answered. "And failing that, then Darth Raven. It is, after all, the title I chose. And once you're worthy to carry the mantle of a Sith Knight you may choose a darth name as well." She was not going to give her real name. Not now at least. As before this sort of thing required trust and respect to be earned; at least from her. They cotinued onward, up into the higher levels of the temple, until they came to Raven's room. As she opened their cae a loud growl. A large beast that was almost a malformed canine stepped out, baring it's teeth and barking at [member="Varen Laurentiis"] . When it seemed ready to attack she shushed it, kneeling next to it and petting it's head while saying "Easy, Sebastian. Easy, boy."

"Very well Master," Varen was making a mental map, at least from the chambers to the front door of the sprawling stair cases and hallways.

The growl caught him off guard and he took a step back. Obviously a Sith lord would have some strange alien beast pet to keep it company. None the less named Sebastian. He still edged carefully towards it.

He reached out his hand for the beast to sniff him, there was no living here without some sort of peace with the animal. "He wont kill me while I sleep will he?"

[member="Darth Raven"]

Even as [member="Varen Laurentiis"] reached out to touch him Sebastian, the sithspawn, gowled at the stranger. When he asked Raven snickered and said "Not unless you give him reason to." After that she walked into her room with Sebastian following. It was large with an equal-sized window that looked out to Courascant. Large silken curtians flowed in the wind. It was all connected with the only room with a door was the bathroom. A bed, a living room area and a kitchen. All of it was a nice set up for a single Sith and her pet. She removed her cloak, revealing her fine clothing underneath, before tossing it aside and saying "You'll find the bath through that door."

He stepped into the massive by his standards room behind [member="Darth Raven"]. "I dont believe this is your home," Varen started towards the window to view the cityscape when she motioned to the door. "Then excuse me for a bit master."

He walked into the bathroom and turned on the bath, steam started to form instantly as he closed the door. He sank into the water peacefully. This was the clearest water he had ever seen. His mind reached inward over the past few weeks. He was intent on finding his fathers killer, and who ever framed him for it. He wasnt ready yet though and he knew it. This mysterious Sith woman was his key to everything.

He soaked for a while longer before scrubbing himself. He got out and wiped down his metallic arm and leg to ensure they were shiny. He reached into his bag and pulled out a fresher change of clothes before opening the door and feeling the steam get sucked out past him.

Raven allowed [member="Varen Laurentiis"] to bath while taking a seat at her chair where a book was marked in the pages. She continued to read where she left off as Sebastian took a seat next to her chair. She waited while busying herself to finish one chapter after the next before finding another spot to leave a mark.

He walked out of the bathroom putting his shirt on. He saw [member="Darth Raven"] sitting reading a book. He walked towards the window to look out at the cities skyline.

"Have you always lived here? In the Temple? Were you born knowing you were a sith?" Varens thoughtfulness from the bathroom hadnt worn away yet. He had questions, but he remembered it wasn't his place to ask.

"Never mind master, I apologize for the intrusion." He walked away from the window and sank onto the floor in front of her, sitting away from Sebastian. "So how does this all work. Being a Sith and being connected. I felt you earlier, at the cantina. And here, I feel everyone here."

She looked up from her reading when he asked, giving him a look that basically reminded him how he had not earned the right to ask anything yet. He understood that enough before sitting down. Sebastian growled but once Raven's hand went onto his head he quieted. When [member="Varen Laurentiis"] asked about how being a Sith worked she only said "As with any Force User you will learn how to hone your skills to create a powerful warrior. You must allow your emotions, your desires, the thing that drives you through life, to be the thing that ignites your inner flame. That is part of the power the Sith use to influence the force to their will. With it you will accomplish so much."

He mulled over what [member="Darth Raven"] just said for a moment before responding. "So the Sith thrive on emotion, and to harness it is to be powerful. Understood master."

He adjusted himself so he was on his knees and sitting on his heels with his hands placed on his thighs. "Master, what are you studying?"

"Yes. You'll see soon enough once we start." she responded when he made the comment. If done the right way then [member="Varen Laurentiis"] would learn how to truly focus emotion and power when using the darkside. With Raven's aid, of course, it would be honed into something truly powerful. She watched his adjust himself before he asked what she read, answering "A mere theory into the study of midicholirans and how they desperate from death. A trivial thing really." The way she said it made it sound as if he would know, but given his background that may or may not be so.

He had nodded once more to his master before adjusting himself.

He looked blankly at her as she talked, "That sounds about as trivial as the gravitational effects on navigational systems in near orbit flight." He chuckled to himself lightly before going on, "What in the galaxy is a midichlorian?"

[member="Darth Raven"]

Given how learned he sounded Raven gave a little huff; more of surprise than anything else. After that when he asked about micihlorians she sighed and answered "Well, to make a less complicated explanation that might otherwise bore or baffle, it's the microbe in your blood that separates you from anyone else. That unique trait in your DNA that makes you able to bend the force to your will. In other words what makes you a force user and everyone else...not."
[member="Varen Laurentiis"]

He smirked at her huff, and nodded his head as [member="Darth Raven"] talked"Interesting enough, I guess." Varens interest in the matter faded. He was eager to begin, or at least get some sleep.

"Master, I assume we have much to do. Is there anything I can get started on here?"

When [member="Varen Laurentiis"] asked she pondered and said "Perhaps it's best we start simply. First tell me what sort of odd occurrences have ever happened to you. Anything such as seeing the future? Sensing people before you even know where they are? Levitating things?" She waited to hear his response before saying "Stand over there. By the couch." She pointed out where and given the distance it was at least 10 feet away from where she sat. She held up the book in her hand and instructed "I want you to try and take the book from my hand while standing there. Reach out and use the Force. It's more simple than you think."

Varen thought of anything that could come to mind, he remembered something. "Back, when I was younger, my father decided to train me how to fight. I was clumsy at first but with practice I got better. After the accident," he paused and clenched his metallic hand, "It took a while to get used to it again, after a couple years I could easily go for hours with the old man. When we fought, it was like I could feel where he was going to move and strike. Was that the force?" He looked up at her. She told him to move and he bounced up off of the floor and said, "Yes master." He stood where [member="Darth Raven"] had pointed and faced her. He put out his hand and focused in on the book, he concentrated on putting all of his will into his hand towards the book.

Raven only nodded when he asked if what he had felt was likely the force. It had a way of acting on mysterious circumstances and moments, often coming to people in certain situations or just occurring over time with growth. For [member="Varen Laurentiis"] it was the such an occasion. After that she watched him move before holding the book up in her hand. As he reached out she could feel the force breaching from his hand and coming towards her. The book trembled but did not fully move. Something equal to a heavy wind against it.
"Come now. You can do better." she said. "Reach inward and pull out the thing that drives you. Your want to see your father. The need to be strong. All of it is a fuel that brings life to the fire inside. Use it!"

He was frustrated and amazed at the same time. Mad because the book didnt move but in awe that it moved at all. He steadied himself again and once more reached out. But instead of focusing on his hand and the book he only focused partially at the book and more inwardly. He thought of his father. The emotions he felt running through the wreckage, the anger and sadness when he felt the only person he cared for pass away. He felt the hair on his one arm raise as emotions rolled through him.

[member="Darth Raven"]

Finally, after a few moments of allowing [member="Varen Laurentiis"] to focus on his emotions, Raven had felt the book fly from her hand towards him. Whether he caught it in the process mattered little. She sat there and nodded while saying "You see? You emotions give you focus. Learn to use it and in time you will accomplish so much more." Sebastian grumbled next to her, Raven petting his head to calm him, while adding "I think that will be all. For today at least."
