He was just about to leave. It was ironic, but not entirely unexpected as the Massive Jedi Master pulled out his other lightsaber, Vanguard. The purpose of this was not to show off his two original weapons, but because he used Vanguard more in practice and sparring because of the shorter hilt. This was more challenging to his "Smashmouth" style(Strong style folding in several different forms of unarmed fighting as well).

Snap-hiss

As the weapon ignited, the big guy just looked at the others and simply said "Master. Vanagor". It wasn't a slight on him or them, it was just a sign of respect to the heritage of the Order. If they were worried of any offense, they could be alleviated just by looking at his lofted eyebrow. Walking around each of them, even the Zabrak Knight to get their attention, he was limbering up. Head down while walking, the big guy finally looked up and swung the vibrant purple blade several times to his left and right.

A flick of the wrist eased the roll into an overhead "half-moon" swipe at his descendant's head, left shoulder and arm, back, right shoulder and arm, and then back to the head before backstepping, saber held horizontally with the blade facing Thio and his non-weapon hand held out in a guard. His form, his flow, was the result of years of training, practice, and teaching. He was not the BattleMaster of an Order anymore but it should have been clear as to why.

Is it obvious that we're family?

Looking at everyone, he nodded as if to say "Well?"

It's not as weak as you were lead to believe.

As Jax was no doubt thrown way off the comment, he reached out.

~"What? You haven't figured out why we're so familiar yet?"~

... YET THE DAWN ALWAYS COMES.

She was up for it, good good. She was glad the others took to the candies well, popping one into her mouth as she followed Aayla to the little circled off area. Good view of the instructor but she wasn't going to hit anyone by accident, perfect. Jedi rewlly did think these things through didn't they?

She maneuvered the candy to her cheek to respond to Aayla telling her to take it easy on her. With as much candy as she consumed on a daily basis, her voice was practically unchanged as she joked, "I think I could do this with one hand tied behind my back, Cutie. You're the one who should be careful, Dad didn't always take it easy on me after all!"

With that she thumbed her lightsaber to life, the yellow blade and crossguard facing the proper jedi, low power setting. She lifted the weapon to mimic the stance taken by Aayla, but turned her body towards the side so her weapon wielding arm was leading, and her body angled to reduce the area facing Aayla. Since there was no point to do the stance entirely correctly, with one hand, instead she adapted it just enough to accomodate.

She wasn't entirely new to this after all.

The instructor gave his little speech, perfect right angles. Easy enough, and then to follow the lead of him and the big Jedi, Master Vanagor. Very much easy enough, this should be fun! She kept her eyes trained on Aayla even as Caltin walked around, clearly the other woman wanted her to move first. Since she had the Force to aid her that was probably smart, no point in going all out if she didn't know Shoden could take it.

Then Master Vanagor made his first few swings after his rounds, and under the shadows made by her hat.. Shoden couldn't help but grin. "You heard 'im!"

She pushed forward at Aayla, and did just as Caltin had. Two swings, left to right, and right to left. They lacked a lot of strength behind them, and she doubted they looked anything resembling experienced. With a bit of luck though, they'd be coming out just a bit faster than Aayla expected, which meant everything for a lightsaber anyways.

She had to be honest, that threat rolled off of her like water; she would be just as easy as any opponent she had fought with two ha-...

her lightsaber to life, the yellow blade and crossguard facing the proper jedi, low power setting.

Oh... Well that certainly made sense, and yet Aayla was taken off guard a little, tensing up as the other mentioned what Master Vanagor said. Aayla utilized footwork, more than handwork, keeping at a perfect distance to minimize the amount of power Shoden could strike with, while also making deliberate, and flawless parries of the blade; taking into account every point in time Shoden could easily press those cross-guards into her constantly moving guard.

Noting as well that saber likely had another blade on the other end. She noted quickly the other could've easily become dangerous with the weapon. She simply lacked proper training with it, and was probably listening too much to the Masters that were trying to train her like everyone else... She wasn't like everyone else... Quickly, Aayla devised a concept for how the other should've been fighting. Instead of holding the weapon in front, she should've been holding it at her back.

With that, and considering the cross-guards, she could probably spin at the sides faster than she could match an opponent. Pulling their saber to the side, and keeping them constantly off balance. She wanted to say something about this, but felt as though she would be over stepping her bounds. In any case, realizing she could deliver a solid blow and disarm the other, she refused to do so, and finished out the drill casually. A light frown developing as she kept pace. Shoden was fast, not yet powerful; that should have been her focus, keeping her opponents blade moving, and never trying to lock into engagement.

After a few moments, these thoughts would pull her concentration, and Shoden's blade would nick her wrist, the sounds of a lighsaber burn filling the small area, a slight wisp of smoke rising from her clothes as Aayla cried out very briefly. Jumping back, and flicking her wrist out a bit.

"Point taken...No pun intended."

Shoden had better not take that as a reason to stop, or drop her guard, because Aayla returned the favor, full strength, full speed, and an almost unnatural recreation of the movements Master Vanagor had used.

She wanted to see if her deduction of the other was right.

Taking up a spot nearby, Varn waited patiently as Dagos did the same. The boy was a decade or so younger than the knight. Looking across at him, it was easy to see the unease resonating within. Both parts confident and hesitant, the boy looked like someone who had something to prove. To himself. To his peers. Whatever the reason, Dagos had accepted to partner up with Varn, knowing full well the risks, the odds. Despite this, the knight sensed that the boy was going to give it his all regardless. Varn admired that about him. For a moment, he didn't know whether to go easy or give it his all, too.

He chose the latter. It was the only way that Dagos would learn. And who knew, maybe he'd learn something too.

Falling into a neutral stance, the Jedi turned his gaze to Jax and Caltin. The former instructed them to watch, and so the Zabrak did. He watched as Caltin walked around the group, the reins firmly in his grip once more. Jax had relinquished them willingly, and Varn was beginning to understand why. His understanding grew when Caltin made his move. First vertical, then, from the side. Back and forth and back again in a series of cuts that all padawans learnt sooner or later. It was simple. Bland, even. Yet, somehow, Caltin had managed it with finesse, and grace and speed. To prove a point, maybe. To show them that it didn't have to be fancy to get the job done.

Like Varn's Makashi, these men stood before the group were masters of their art. The knight couldn't help but dip his head in respect.

Turning to Dagos, the knight nodded again. "Well?" He asked, his voice an invitation.

“Well?” The older Jedi said as way of invitation. A small smile flashed across Dagos’ face for less than a second before being replaced by a look of resolve. There was a slight hesitation from the padawan, as a martial combatant Dagos was most comfortable using his footwork and understanding of angles to turn his opponent’s attacks into opportunities for himself and because of this he was not usually the one to immediately take the fight to his foes. Here it would seem he had little choice. It didn’t matter, he was starting this fight at a disadvantage whichever way you looked at it, so maybe stepping out of his comfort zone was exactly what was needed.

Dagos exhaled slow and softly, steeling his nerves and sharpening his senses. He used the force to pull the training saber from his belt to his right hand, the soft blue blade exploding to life with a snap and a hiss facing the ground while the hilt pointed up. The dew on the grass steamed from the heat of the blade.

He was no master of using reverse grip but the unorthodoxy of the style could throw off an opponent who wasn’t used to seeing it. His first strike was a diagonal vertical strike aiming from the Zabrak’s left hip to right shoulder and followed up by a ripping move pulling the blade from left shoulder to right in a maneuver that if this exercise were real would be an attempt to decapitate his foe.

With a flourish he would spin the blade in his hand adopting a traditional hand grip and now with both hands on the saber he would bring the blade down as hard as he could mimicking the downward strike Master Vanagor had demonstrated.
