OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
- Intent: To bring to life Katria's Verpine companion to use as a gunsmith for the CIS.
- Image Credit: KhairulHisham on DeviantArt
- Role: Skiss is Katria's personal gunsmith and the engineer of her ship.
- Links: Verpine (Species), Verpine Shatter Gun/Rifle
- Age: Roughly fifty galactic standard years
- Force Sensitivity: Non-Force User
- Species: Verpine
- Appearance: Like most of his kind, Skiss has a green chitinous carapace that is marked with numerous scars and burns. One of his antennae is bent and he has wrappings around parts of his right arm and left leg. While on the outside he doesn't appear to be that damaged, there is a difficulty because of his insectoid anatomy. Regardless of this he tends to wear makeshift spacer gear and equipment that would indicate him as an engineer or weapon smith.
- Name: Skiss Iskiss
- Loyalties: Companion to Katria Vekarr but now associated with the CIS.
- Wealth: While he doesn't have a lot of money, he manages to get by by building and selling weapons to pay for the parts he builds or uses.
- Notable Possessions: Skiss Iskiss owns very little in the way of notable possessions outside of his own personal kit of tools to help him build Verpine weapons.
- Skills: Skiss is an expert engineer and weapon smith, and is capable in small pockets of combat.
- Personality: Smart, crafty and creative, Skiss is something of a genius with technology and ships. However, to go along with this he is highly paranoid, skittish and prone to panic unless properly prepared for the task at hand. He doesn't like being brought to places where crime is extremely high and will often argue against most, if not all, of Katria's plans. In spite of this he has a very sound form of thinking when it comes to planning his own actions and contributing to others when the time and situation permits.
- Weapon of Choice: Skiss preferred weapons are his cunning and the verpine shatter guns he builds for himelf and Katria.
- Combat Function: Skiss is one to completely avoid combat if possible. On one hand he is more than capable with his own personal verpine shatter gun. On the other hand he doesn't do well when cornered and often resorts to the strategy of finding the easiest way out.
+ Hard Shelled Bug: Due to his insectoid race, Skiss' biological make up does not have what most species would call an organ with semblance to a heart. This makes targeting vital systems difficult on top of getting through his already tough shelled exterior; which is blade resistant and capable of shrugging off glancing blaster shots.
+ Micro-Vision: Like most Verpine, Skiss can see on the microscopic level, a trait that makes him very good at his jobs.
- Kriff no I won't fight!: Skiss doesn't like combat. In fact, on most occasions, he will avoid it at any time he possibly can. He may be good with a verpine shatter gun but he doesn't do well when put into a dicey situation. Don't count on him for reliable support. (Ironic for a gunsmith)
- The frak was that?: Skiss is paranoid, skittish and otherwise jumpy. If you catch him by surprise, which is quite often, you're lucky if he DOESN'T shoot you with a verpine shatter pistol on the spot. Something he is prone to doing unless you present yourself in his direct vision first.
- What's he saying?: While Skiss can understand basic, he only speaks in his native tongue. Katria understands it, but cannot speak it.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Skiss has known Katria since her birth. In fact he was part of the Vekarr crew long before the young mercenary was even born. At fifty galactic standard years he has seen many a battle and experienced things beyond his companions understanding and reach. His career as a gunsmith started on his home world, but eventually expanded to the Vekarr crew when Shaden Vekarr, Katria's father's brother, saved him from a terrorist cell that attacked his workshop in an attempt to collect verpine weapons for their arsenal.
In the following years the Verpine spent his days building weapons for Kavis Vekarr, Katria's father, as well as Katria's cousin Tyria (Shaden's daughter and Dinah's mother). Even after the disappearance of Shaden, Kavis and Tyria, Skiss stuck by Katria's side and continued to do what he did best. Keeping her ship in the air and a gun in her hands. If she does the fighting, he doesn't have to. In spite of this philosophy, he constantly argues with the young mercenary whenever she makes a choice he disagrees with.
Which is almost always.
