Slowly Digested Over One Thousand Years!

The zones were reached attacked in their own turn, albeit randomly. The Padawan's yellow saber met the Knight's blue with the characteristic audible crash. It went on for a little while until Dune was satisfied Vorian could handle things at that pace. Then the attacks came a bit faster and the student responded with minimal difficulty.

He was still nervous, but Dune wanted to find a pace to push him to where he couldn't think so much. Then the nerves would go away and he could begin to express his physical potential. So he sped up just a little more, though still below half speed....

Even at the ripe young age of fourteen, Vorian was wise enough to know that things that usually began simple were scarcely like to stay that way. This was exemplified by the gradual ramping up of intensity in the Bith Jedi Knight's attacks. Where Vorian once found it trivial enough to simply bat away the slow swings, they now came quicker and quicker. Vorian found himself almost succumbing to the barrages, until he felt a lift spread throughout his arms, a calm sharpen his mind. With a startling shiver, the Arkanian Jedi realized that he was utilizing the force -- to a far more than usual extent -- to bolster his defense. Was this the potential Dune seeked to ease out of him?

It was happening gradually, but it was still happening. The Arkanian was flowing more and more instead of just moving. This was precisely the point of the exercise. But now the strain was beginning to tell on the youth's features and the Bith pulled back.

"Alright, that will be sufficient for today," he deactivated his weapon then returned the controls of his weapon to their normal setting before hooking it back in place. "The point of the drills was to flow with the Force and you accomplished that."

Excitement began to bubble up in Vorian, boiling over in the form of a expressive grin on the Arkanian's sharp, pale and angular features. How exhilarating! His mind began to blot out the outside world, focusing himself and the force solely on the rhythmic swings, jabs and slashes of the Bith's lightsaber beam; meeting every one with a underhanded parry, a block -- occasionally even a riposte. Soon, though -- perhaps too soon -- Dune drew back, disigniting the lightsaber. Sufficient for today?

Though by this point Vorian began to pant and became suddenly aware of several large welts he had not noticed through the adrenaline, he felt a tad.. disappointed? He felt he was truly beginning to learn. The Jedi Apprentice knew better than to question a far more experienced Jedi Knight. Who knows, the Bith may have been in a similar position as his pupil so long ago and may have had full hand experience of the negatives of exhausting one's self.

Nevertheless, Vorian inclined his upper body in a bow to Dune Rhur. "Tha...Thank you.. for the... lesson.. Master.. Dune. It would be a privilege to koff-- learn underneath your tutelage someday again." His words, while interrupted by pants, were filled with genuine respect.

"I will teach you again on one condition: stop calling me Master here."

He smiled to soften any sting from his words.

"That went very well," he said as he eyed Vorian's new decorations "Don't worry, even Knights still get those sometimes."

"The medical bay will have ointment for those. It works very well, I know from many trips there."

Indeed he had, for Dune Rhur had not always been so adept with his lightsaber.
