The icy wind howled louder as chaos erupted in the streets, but Valery remained focused, her fiery gaze darting between the flurry of movement. Her violet blade danced with precision, carving through the Sithspawn with lethal efficiency, but the sight of Everest and Reina both in danger sent a jolt through her core.

"Everest! Reina!" Valery's voice carried through the storm, sharp and commanding.

Her body moved on instinct. She surged forward, her blade cutting through a lunging creature that attempted to block her path. The air crackled with energy as she deflected a spray of icicles hurled in her direction. One by one, the Sithspawn fell, their icy forms crumbling under her relentless assault, but they kept coming, their numbers seemingly endless.

As Valery advanced, she saw another monstrous Sithspawn going after Everest. The sight of the young Padawan's wide, terrified eyes stirred something deep within her. The Sithspawn's jagged maw opened wide, and in that moment, Valery's fiery eyes began to glow, their golden-orange light cutting through the storm. Her hair lifted as if caught in an invisible wind, and the very air around her began to tremble with the raw power of the Force.

The temperature shifted, the biting cold replaced by an oppressive heat radiating from Valery's presence. She raised a hand, and flames erupted around her in a sudden, violent burst. The fire spread in an instant, a blazing inferno that danced with her will. The Sithspawn shrieked and recoiled, their icy forms hissing and cracking as the flames consumed them.

The fire obeyed her command, swirling and surging like a living entity. It curled around Everest and Reina without harming them, instead forming a protective barrier that drove back the encroaching darkness. Valery strode forward, her presence an unstoppable force as the flames followed her like a loyal guardian.

With a sharp motion of her hand, the fire expanded outward in a wave, sweeping through the streets and igniting every last Sithspawn in its path. Their guttural roars turned to screams of anguish as the ice melted away, leaving nothing but charred remnants in their wake.

The storm quieted, the air now filled with the faint crackle of dying flames. Valery lowered her hand, her glowing eyes dimming as she exhaled slowly. She glanced back toward Everest and Reina, her expression softening as she took in their battered forms.

"Are you both alright?" she asked, her voice steady but tinged with concern. She extended a hand to Reina first, helping her to her feet, before moving to Everest. "Stay close to me," Valery added, her fiery gaze scanning the now-quiet battlefield. "This isn't over just yet."

"I'm fine, actually. Worried about the others. Do you think they'll get this summoner soon?"

"I'm sure everyone will be home in time for supper." Aadihr lied. "I suspect a matter of hours, but we can't know for sure." He left the rest of his thoughts unsaid: if they didn't succeed in slaying the summoner in a matter of hours, they were either dead or lost track of the witch.

Either case would mean this cold could last for days. Perhaps Aadihr should locate food and water - if he could do so without drawing witchspawn attention to the sanctuary again.

Aadihr sighed. Putting on a brave face probably wasn't the best approach - the boy's worries had merit after all. Aadihr admitted to the Padawan, "I'm worried too. Confident in our strike team, but still worried."

Azzie pivoted to avoid a clawed hand shooting up from the ice, spinning into a fluid strike that severed an undead arm at the elbow. The frozen limb fell limply to the snow before shattering like brittle glass under her boot. This is wrong, all of it. Her fists clenched around her weapons as more figures emerged, the glowing light of yellow and orange from her lightsabers reflecting off lifeless, frostbitten eyes. This witch turned this whole place into a graveyard—and she’s not letting anything rest.

“Don’t let them box us in!” She shouted, her tone sharp despite the frost collecting on her face. She spun low, one blade cleaving a set of knees while the other swept horizontally, decapitating another ghoul mid-lunge. The weight of each swing was heavier than it should’ve been. Not physically, but emotionally, as she saw the faint echoes of the dead within the Force. An anguished, wordless wail that only heightened her fury.

The others were holding their ground, but Azzie could feel the storm pressing down on them, slowing their movements, chilling their very bones. She could also feel the reinforcements—the ones still beneath the ice, clawing and thrashing their way to the surface. Her foot hit a patch of ice, and she slid sideways, barely catching herself with a stab of one saber into the ground. If they didn’t act fast, they’d be overrun.

Azzie’s eyes flicked to the cracked ice beneath their feet. The undead were coming from below, as Corazona had said, their putrid fingers already splitting the thin crust of ice in several places. A determined wildfire flared through her purple gaze, an idea forming in her mind. It was a risky idea, but then again, if it worked—if she was capable of carrying it out—they would at least have a little less to worry about.

“Get clear!” She yelled to the others, her voice cutting through the chaos like the strike of a knife. She planted her feet firmly on the ice and crossed her sabers in front of her chest, the golden and orange glowing brighter as she focused. The storm seemed to rage harder, the wind clawing at her like it was alive, but she didn’t care. Her connection to the Force blazed like a furnace, the snow that hit her skin sizzling in the wind.

Then, Azzie jumped up into the air, plunging her blades straight into the ground as she came down to it with heavy force. They hissed violently as they struck, fire erupting from her hands and shooting down the hilt into the frozen surface cracks below.

The ice beneath her glowed molten yellow, the cracks spreading outward like spiderwebs. A heartbeat later, fire erupted through the fissures, golden flames bursting through the snow and racing along the ground in jagged lines. The frozen corpses closest to her were engulfed instantly, their grotesque forms writhing and disintegrating under the searing heat. She gritted her teeth while sweat beaded down her face, holding her saber firm as the fire spread further, tracing outward and spitting into the air. How long she could keep it up for, she had no idea.

The first creature lunged, an unnatural shriek erupting from its decayed throat. Thea sidestepped with fluid precision, spinning her lightsaber to sever its outstretched arm in one clean stroke, followed swiftly by a strike to its neck, taking its head.

Another zombie charged, this one faster and larger, ice-crusted bones clattering as it moved. Thea ducked low, sweeping her saber across its legs and sending it crashing into the snow. She leapt back as three more joined the fray, their clawed hands swiping wildly at her.

Thea didn't hear Azzie in time to get away from the area when she did her attack.
"Whoa," Thea breathed, wide-eyed, as she just narrowly avoided the fire. "Not that I'm questioning your methods, but, uh... you're not planning on turning all of us into crispy icicles, are you?"

"When you lie, your breathing pauses for a moment." Aris sat by the hole he'd made, his hands glowing as he started to heat up some sand. Snow melted around him as he became a sort of buffer from the cold outside. He started to mold that sand though, gathering little handfuls as the snow dissipated. Glass formed between his hands, glass he started to mold bit by bit, attaching it to the wall. He was essentially making a new wall of glass to help keep the heat in.

"Others probably can't tell. We probably shouldn't play cards." He glanced to Aadihr, giving a rather warm grin towards the man. He knew why Aadihr was lying. the others around them, the civilians caught up in this, the truth was going to put them in a panic. "Azzy's on the team, though. She's got this for sure. You gonna take her on a date when this is all over? Snow on Jakku seems oddly romantic."

Her vision was enveloped by a fierce, bright yellow-orange. Everest gasped heavily, barely able to make sense of what was happening about her as the horrific black mass above her was suddenly engulfed in flame. She could feel the intense heat blaring above her, a stark contrast to the damp cold seeping through to her back. In an instant it was over as the blinding light immediately receded back into the blue twilight that melted back around her awareness.

The features of a familiar face was then above her, and a comforting voice muffled through to her ears, and before she knew it she was being pulled up into a seating position, and then back on her feet. Her eyes started to well, and this time she knew it wasn't from the cold, but she breathed through the feeling of being overwhelmed as she got her senses.

As her vision and hearing settled back into reality, she reached for her arm that hung lifelessly at her side. Getting her breath into control, she took a sharp inhale and pulled at the limb. A heavy crunch rippled through her body as the arm set itself back into its proper place, and she gave out a small squeak that disappeared into the wind. Despite how delicate she may have seemed, this wasn't the first time she'd done something like this to herself, and she knew it wouldn't be the last. She was just grateful there were no cuts beyond her robe, but that beast had packed a hefty hit.

Eve nodded silently at Master Noble's question, incapable of speaking, as if her attempt to thank her was stuck in her throat. Plucking out the freezing lightsaber hilt she had dropped from several inches of snow, a large part of her was relieved when it activated into brilliant purple once more. She glanced to the harpooner and, again, found herself incapable of speaking thanks to her, but she nodded silently in recognition.

The temporary respite did not last long. Below them, the frozen ground seemed to shake and rumble as a roaring mass of black suddenly broke through, sending a storm of rubble, ice and tar up into the air. Through the frenzy came a beast far larger than any of ones they had wrestled with. Its fuliginous features were nigh impossible to comprehend, light itself seeming to disappear entirely within the black of its flesh. It sized up its three meals who were conveniently bunched together, and with a earth-shattering roar it lunged forward to feast. Everest raised the lightsaber once more, no longer afraid but struck with a stoic, silent focus, and she prepared to strike.

"When you lie, your breathing pauses for a moment."
Aadihr suddenly found himself holding his breath, testing and finding the boy was correct. He laughed quietly, replying "Those senses of yours will take a bit of getting used to."
A sentence Aadihr had been on the receiving side of countless times. He found it ironic to be speaking it to another.

"Others probably can't tell. We probably shouldn't play cards."
Aadihr nodded, appreciating Aris's discretion and concern for the civilian's morale. "I agree - admittedly I've never played cards. Ink and holograms aren't really, uh, 'visible' in the force for me." He replied.

Considering his blindfold was damp from the melting snow and ice, now was a good a time as any to remove it to dry. The Miraluka untied the blindfold that Azurine Varek Azurine Varek had given to him, cut from her armored synthweave cloak.

"Azzy's on the team, though. She's got this for sure. You gonna take her on a date when this is all over? Snow on Jakku seems oddly romantic."

"She'll do great, she's practically built for breaking Ice." Aadihr's tone turned somber for a moment at Aris's question. "I don't think a date would be appropriate. She and I... we've been distant for a while. Her aura shows frustration and pain when I'm around. I'm not entirely sure I did, but ever since the Fire festival - no, before then - ever since Eiattu 6 I think she's been angry with me. Or disappointed, or... Something."

Aadihr sighed, relieved at being able to at least talk about this with someone.

"So no, I don't think she'd appreciate me asking her out after this. She's talented, kind, and purpl-, uh, I mean, her aura is... Uh... Purple? What I mean to say is: I'm sure there's many other suitors more fit for her anyway, I don't want to bother her any more than necessary." Aadihr sent his sight away, searching Jedha in hopes of locating Azzie. "It's not my first rejection, there's no need for me to get clingy like a teenager with their first love."

Right, Aris was a teenager, Aadihr had almost forgotten with how reserved the boy was much of the time.

"No offense intended."

Aris sort of just, stared at Aadihr. He'd felt bad a first, over the off hand comment about playing cards. Aadihr didn't have eyes, so of course he couldn't actually play those kinds of games. But he could use a sniper rifle and nail a target some several hundreds of feet away. Yeah it still didn't make sense to the teen who couldn't feel the Force. But as Aadihr went on, a blank, almost judgmental stare formed with the Epicanthix's expression.

"You're assuming a lot of things without actually talking to her. You should.. I dunno, try talking, before just assuming?"
