So I cant...be me anymore?

I just got back from an LoA and im not sure if i can still be this character after the ban ((which really disappointed me because i only got to use it once)) im halfway angry halfway let down...
Does anyone know anymore about the details of the ban? because i really dont understand what happened or why...

I'm curious as to why one would come to a sci-fi Star Wars forum with the intent to RP a dragon but...

Dragons were seen as too OP and were becoming a -thing/issue- hotly discussed by Staff. You might want to look at and read over the actual ban update thread located in staff forum to get more details. That's really where the meat and potatoes of the issue is located.

[member="Nocturna"] Sorry to hear you aren't able to use your character anymore, let me know if you want some help finding something you'd like.

It was a combination of Dragons being rather powerful characters from the start, not really fitting into Star Wars setting (Only Dragon seen in movies for example were bones of a Krayt Dragon, and even then it was simply a background prop), and in many cases they were given sentience when they should have been non or semi sentient beings, or long-ago extinct.

Now, I know that there are characters who are powerful from the start instead of starting from the bottom of the food chain as I believe they should (And I am not speaking of transfer characters here, I mean new characters who are just powerful from the start) and there are other semi or non-sentient characters who were not affected by the ban, and there are characters who play species that should be extinct, like the Sith Purebloods.

While I cannot speak for the Staff Members (Us Factory Judges are not actually staff) I hope that the ban on dragons was only beginning, and that it will be loosened in the future from completely banning characters like that into restricting them much like we have restricted metals (For example requiring for Dragon characters to start out as hatchlings and document their growth through a series of training Past-RP threads). However, characters like the Celestials or Mnggal-Mnggal should very much be still banned and not touched with ten-foot pole, there's just too much room for things going terribly wrong with those.

That said, while you cannot write a Dragon character ICly, don't scrap them totally, the rule can always change, as I hope it will.

Or ask Fabula or Kyra or any other Admin for their opinion until then.

While I believe this extends to Factory-approved dragons as well, who can be used as NPCs, and basically anything that has resistant hide, wings, large size, and often an organic breath weapon, it is not my place to enforce the rules outside of the Factory.

So yeah, ask an admin for their opinion before assuming whether or not factory-approved dragons are covered by this rule, I will once I see Kyra or Fabula around in Factory chat.

Well if Admins would like it, then it's an option, Tef did ask, after all, for Dragon characters to get together and come up with some restrictions instead of the ban,

I ask that you get other Dragon players together and begin working on an alternate proposal for a "restriction" that may be applied to the Dragon-species, in place of the ban. Similar to how we have restricted technology, I am open to restricting Dragons instead of banning them.

As to Factory-approved draconic species, I did ask other Judges and Admins, Tef has ruled before that they can indeed be used, so we're going with that,

To clarify.

If the character uses a species that was subbed and approved through the Species Factory... They can still use those characters? Such as the unique "Leviathan" (unrelated to the wookieepedia sub of the same name) that is on the board?

If it was approved, yes.

Anyone mind if I make a dragon already approved myself then? I have a powerhouse of my own I used to RP outside of here and I never shown his true power, don't expect me to go full bantha chit with this dragon I make

NOTE: I just found out as of this edit that Ragna Dragons are too fething big at age 20... let alone 200, so I may not do this even i get consent

I agree I wouldn't mind writing my growth process as nocturna I would actually love to do that and if any other dragons want to get together and speak about setting restrictions I would be happy to help! But I'm still extremely mad at the staff for choosing to completely ban them for the Time being hopefully that changes soon

I fully agree with this, as the dragon I wanted to make would have been slow to age anyway

Fine. An adult Gundam is clearly OP. What about a Sentient Force-Sensitive Chibi-Gundam? Personally, I think it's much more likely to get Factory Approved. Ya know. Cause it's smaller. :p
