Soiree of the Century (Axis Members Only)

@[member="Vorhi Alestrani"]

"Ayy you'd be right about that stranger. No manners left for the supposed higher ups of society. Pirates act better, and mind that it comes from personal experience". Rayl procured another finger sandwich from the buffet, crusts cut off too; so fancy these soirees. "I'll say though you don't look much the part for being here. May I inquire to your status my good sir"? Sandwich snacking commenced whilst he awaited his straw hat'd conversation companion to hopefully have a forthcoming answer. If not, just another silent pleb to note to ignore. And all the more time to do much more important things, such as drinking champagne and flirting with the immaculate looking women.

Vorhi simply smiled as someone sane walked up to him. "Seriously, most of us get shot at enough at work, you'd think we could take a night off every now and again," he said with a shrug, bowing politely to the boisterous fellow. "I'm Vorhi, an Archaeologist and part-time specialist in hand-to-hand combat," he said with a smirk. "I mostly spend my time sparring with big angry critter that live in old tombs," he said with a smirk. He didn't know this Rayle fellow, but he seemed nice enough. Besides, he couldn't spend every drink with enlisted officers and sagely scholars. It was good to spend time with men who could throw a punch and drink heartily, or something like that.

"The kind to delve into danger and mystery eh? Though I doubt you're looking for the former". Rayl gave a good laugh to the man about that. Certain he'd been near death one to many times already. "Names Rayl Wilded. Privateering and the less lawful of such work are my game. Black blooded money my gain. And of course in these times of strife I'm willing to be the black heart to profit off the backs of Empires. If I may ask further though; what exactly are you looking for in these hidden places you go to. Treasure, knowledge"? Rayl was honest with his question. Honest to the almighty credit of course. Meticulously pulling the little levers behind the curtain of his mind. 'Pay no attention to the money shaped man behind the curtain please'. There were fortunes to be paid for ancient relics of forbidden knowledge, objects of power, bobbles of the force to hang off your Star Cruisers rear view mirror. All the like of that, but they were well hidden and far between. There were a few well known locations of treasure hordes of that like. The Jedi Temple before its raid. Certainly Dromund Kaas had a collection under the Emperors lock and key. And a few other personal collections. Unfortunately all well guarded; to be expected of course. Not that either an elite or massed force couldn't be raised to strike at such targets. maybe an idea to think about in depth.

The Admiralty
Codex Judge
"I was a Senior Commander in the Navy before I was elected Viceroy of District 2. Being in the Navy is quite the family tradition going back generations. I dare say my father is upset that I'm not anymore."
"I must thank you for getting me out of that mess before I did anything unladylike."

Jared wondered why the lady decided to leave the Navy behind her and become a Viceroy. In the Fringe Confederacy it was easy enough to combine Military Service with Politics. Hell, with the current state of affairs the Military is the real power behind the Confederacy. He could not imagine himself giving up his ship and troops to spend his time bickering about certain disputes. He was nonetheless intrigued that this woman obviously did just that.

For once he asked the question directly, instead of covering it up in vague analogies and nuance: "So, why did you decide to leave the Navy and pursue a career in politics.. Sophia?"

Jared gestured vaguely with his hand: "Think nothing of it. I will confess that I had my own selfish reasons for getting you out of that.. mess."

They had walked in arm in arm, and the blond had been relatively quiet throughout their little procession into the event. Unlike his wife, he was not fond of such grand social spectacles. Granted they did make Feena look fabulous, but her preparations for this night had been...nightmarish. A woman in her stage of pregnancy couldn't exactly go dancing, and her usual elegant dresses did not fit her at the moment. Soon she would start nesting again, and that made Keter's lips quirk into a smile. He just hoped it was at home and not at one of her Sanctuaries. Their daughter needed more of her mother's influence. Otherwise she was going to become so unlike a little lady that Feena would be sure to blame him! It couldn't be his fault if she loved her Uncle Barnabus and the cool tricks he taught her...or how she now could safely roam the air vents of Dis during their games of hide and seek.

He didn't answer her. The Archons mood darkened like an oncoming storm. A simple question. "Do I look terrible?" And he couldn't even answer that. It was all the answer she needed.
She sighed, looking down at her rounded stomach.

"I knew it... well can you at least tell me if I put on matching shoes? I can't see my feet anymore..."

"Well, I didn't really give it up fully. I never could it's in my blood. I'm trying to combine the two now though honestly lately I do nothing but argue with politicians. They want this or that and of course they don't think I know what I'm doing." Sophia wasn't honestly sure what she was doing in politics. It gave her a headache most of the time but the smiles from the citizens made it all worth it. She really was made her district a better place for the citizens so with that in mind she could deal with a little arguing. Sophia could handle anything anybody threw at her. She had proved at least that much.

"I swear the citizens pushed me into it. I remember always saying that I would never go into politics but here I am. I hate all the red tape though to be able to do anything. I do care what the citizens think but if a single voice made the decision things would get done quicker. People could get the things they need quicker. Ultimately I'm in charge now but you know I would hate to upset the committee" She smiled taking a sip of her drink. "You should come see it. Chroma Zed is quite a beautiful planet."

He turned and smiled at his wife, leaning over to plant a quick kiss on her cheek. "You look like any mother would wish to," he replied. And she did, still exuding femininity and grace, though now merged with motherly care. The blond remembered reading somewhere about the philosophical approach that saw women with three faces - the girl, the lover, and the matriarch. Feena certainly fit the third type best at the moment. "And no one would say otherwise," he continued with a smile. "So...what shall we do hmm? A light dance perhaps? Or will you be off making friends again?"

He was charming. Good thing too. She might be annoyed if he wasn't. The kiss on the cheek didn't hurt either.

"Do you think I could dance in my condition?" she sighed, "No. Let's see who we can find."

This was going to be a very dull night. Her husband was going to have to try very hard to keep her happy. Poor Keter...

Despite his target ignoring his handshake and making a real fool of himself against someone obviously skilled in the Wind, Chupa's hopes were not dashed in the least. Instead he took to awkwardly walking around the soiree, trying to figure out what to do, when @[member='Feena Mason'] and her "date" (husband, boyfriend, slave, butler, bodyguard...all of the above, maybe) @[member='Keter'] strode into the place. Nice dress, nice figure...ugly date for such a soiree, ugly mate to be stuck for life with. Striding up to the couple, he stuck out his hand and kept a semi-serious face on, this time. No need to scare the pants off of anyone.

"Greetings. Chupa La'Roi, at your service. You are?"

@[member="Rayl Wilded"]

Vorhi laughed slightly and nodded towards the fellow. "I do whatever I'm asked to. Sometimes I'm digging, sometimes I'm appraising, some times I'm selling," he said with a a laugh. "You ever want to help with shipping to a contact, I'll taek a business card. Never hurts to know a good man with a ship. Mind if I ask what tonnage you can haul, mate?" The nman was shootign for a business lead, no sense dancing around the room over it.

"Ohh so your not independent then; less interesting. But only an iota so". Of course having sponsors was a necessity. Expeditions would be costly no doubt. "I'm in that field of work. I'll say currently a 150k gross. Tons of course. But I should tell you that my fleet is always in a state of flux for whats available. We typically sell off the transports to maximize our profit margins. Often they're worth more then the cargo; unless there was something really special being moved. I'm sure you wouldn't be moving items of that substantial weight though. So I should always be able to accommodate any request you have". Rayl munched the last bit of his sandwich. He coughed and choked as he tried to speak again. His hand promptly raised to indicate a hold. Once his incident passed he apologised and continued with what he was to say. "If you've a data pad on you i can pass on my contact information for the services".

...And find someone, Feena did, although it was not some one she knew. He offered his hand and Feena gave it to him, fully expecting him to kiss it.

"A pleasure to meet you, Mister La'Roi. I am Archon of the CIS, Mrs. Feenarah Mason. And this is my husband, @[member="Keter"] Mason."
