Soldiers

I know there was a check in for ground forces and whatnot, but how many actual soldiers do we have that are active? Is Havoc Squad still a thing? I'd like to see us band together and start skirmish ing the Sith forces if we can so that's why I'm checking to see who is actually around.

[member="Norrin Fulk"], I haven't seen a consistent Havoc Squad for a while now. Nor have i seen an active trooper around, which is a pity.

I believe [member="Samuel Quentin"] is planning on doing more work with our ground forces soon.

But ee do have people playing with our ground forces from time to time though. Oftentimes they're Jedi working a specific objective with the military, but sometimes its other military folks, such Commander Dallen of the 102nd Legion, or Captain Hadrix of Galactic Republic Intelligence Ministry.

You and I also have a thread together involving a prisoner exchange of some sort I don't think has gotten any replies in a minute.

Currently the 102nd, a combined Navy/Army Task Force is about the only game in town standard grunt wise. The opening thread for the 102nd was a Joint military Jedi training op that went well a little poodoo side up for various reasons.

As far as Havoc goes a large number of them with the exception of Kiyron(sp?) defected to the Omega Protectorate god I want to say a year ago. I have seen one or two of them pop up here or there in the last week or so since OP is no more.

If you want to toss around ideas or what not my inbox is always open and checked regularly.

The 102nd already has Task Force specific armor. Use however would need to be approved by Dallen. So in that regard in keeping with our PM discussion the 102nd may not be a viable option.

I am not opposed to a TF independent of the 102nd.

Could be called anything I would imagine. Using numbers obviously is a lot easier. Or you could pick any creature/animal is Star Wars and call it Task Force (insert name) such as Task Force Rancor or some such nonsense.

The difficult part is not the name. The difficult part is the purpose, structure, and how it fits into the larger RDF structure.

Not to mention without approval from Gir or higher nobody can hold a rank higher than LT which makes the Task force more of a Platoon that an actual Task force.

Care to chime in ranks as your ground forces try to get organized?

RL comes first, mate. No rush.

Let's start with name ideas and go from there. A few ideas:
Task Force Banshee
Task Force Krayt
Task Force Dragon
Task Force 201
Task Force 66 (Nickname: The Hell Watch)

I'm more here to coordinate things OOC than anything else to make things for you guys easier.

If you guys have an idea of what you want to do with a new task force, I think you guys should run with it (just keep me in the loop).

As far as the officer rank thing is going, it's perfectly fine for you guys to NPC the officer in charge, especially in private threads. There have been some discussions among the faction staff about potentially letting people start out officer characters higher than lieutenants too, but nothing's been finalized yet. But I'll be the first to let you know if that does change.

If I can be of any further help to either you, please let me know.

Not really, mostly because being a soldier limits what people can actually do IC without...certain consequences IC because well...They're a soldier.

Not many people want to play with those kind of restraints.

That's why you aren't rank and file, you're a special soldier. Besides, there's always R&R.

As for what this task force does, I think it should be all about taking out/controlling Force Users since there aren't many enemy soldier types and we'll likely be facing Force Users in almost every battle we engage in. That's kind of why Task Force 66 is my favorite right now. I started writing it out and "Hell Watch" popped right into my head.

Special forces don't get a lot of leway either...Spetznaz are special forces, SEALS are special forces...they still follow orders from someone and follow a strict code of what they can and can't do, wear, use etc. unless they are already in the field.

>_>

Whatever path you decide to take you will have my full support. Personally I love the idea of a unit tasked with eliminating force users.

And if restraints are a problem, you should think about making it a black ops unit. They tend to get much more leeway. Literally no rules apply to them.

This idea has a lot of merit, and would see you in the thick of the action during our battles with the One Sith. If you're interested in pursuing this, I'd take a look at the Knighthunters for some ideas on equipment and training.

This isn't to say that Black Ops is a bad idea either. But there will likely be some competition for that type of stuff with GRIM, our intelligence agency.
