When she set him free

Location: Coruscant - Iris Acres Art Gallery [Crime Scene]
Objective: Start Investigation & Meet Co-Investigator for the Case

The sterile, gleaming lights of Coruscant's Iris Acres Art Gallery flickered overhead as officers methodically processed the scene. The faint hum of their equipment blended with the heavy silence that filled the room. A woman's body lay sprawled on the cold, polished floor, her eyes wide in eternal shock. Beside her, a handwritten note rested on the ground, its scrawled message stark against the white paper: "If I can't have her, no one will." The gallery, a place once full of the vibrancy of art and celebration, now bore the weight of tragedy. A few nights prior, it had hosted a high-profile celebrity auction, where patrons bid for a chance to spend an evening with a star. Among them was Misty Sol, the renowned holo actress, who had claimed the highest bid of the night. However, during the date, she had received a series of ominous, threatening calls that had left her visibly shaken. Now, as the officers combed through the crime scene, it was clear that someone was willing to go to any lengths to possess her — and this murder was only the beginning. The question on everyone's mind: had Misty Sol's mysterious stalker finally crossed the line?

The Jedi Council certainly thought so and that was why Jedi Master Katarine Ryiah was on the scene. Her deep green eyes scanned the body for a moment, and then traveled to the note. She stayed back so the crime scene photographers could process the scene, but her sharp eyes were already calculating. So far the officers were ignoring Katarine, probably because she wasn't dressed as a typical Jedi. She'd just come off an undercover assignment and hadn't changed into Jedi robes before she picked up the murder on the police scanner. The Council was supposed to be sending another Jedi to meet her here as well. The five foot two inch (1.5748 Meters) woman crouched down by the body as she waited for the other Jedi to arrive.

Kellen departed the transport taxi as he smoothed his Jedi robes. Having just returned from yet another mission to the Outer Rime, he had been quickly assigned to assist another Jedi Master on a current investigation into a murder. Not his typical wheelhouse but Masters were in short demand within the Order and he would provide whatever aid he could.

As he approached, Kellen looked over the scene and observed the police barrier and the crowd formed around it. Police were keeping reporters and curious onlookers back as the crime scene investigators skimmed the scene. Seeing as he was dressed in his robes, the police stepped back as he approached and allowed him access. Kellen's bright blue eyes settled on the body currently sprawled in front the art gallery. No doubt this would affect its prosperity and reputation among all these socialites. Not that Kellen cared for such things. He was here to stop more killing, as he assumed his co-worker was.

Speaking of her, Kellen locked eyes onto a short woman currently surveying the scene with a keen eye. Although she wasn't dressed in the Orders traditional garb, he knew a fellow Jedi when he saw one. Not to mention her presence in the Force was apparent compared to the crowd around 'em.

"You must be who the Council sent me to aid. Pleasure to meet you, I am Kellen." The man crouched down next to Kat and eyed the body and what was around it, hoping to utilize his Psychometry to aid her in this investigation. "What is your analysis so far?"

He came to me

Katarine felt the other Jedi approaching before he knelt down beside her and introduced himself. She let her deep green eyes meet his and smiled, though the smile wasn't as radiant as it could have been considering the dark circumstances surrounding them. "My name is Katarine. Its nice to meet another Jedi."

She turned back to the body in question, laying on the floor with the throat slit. "The woman's name is Betti Lisk. She's the museums charity organizer. She's the one who called the winning bids the other night. I think our unsub feels its partially Betti's fault he didn't win the date with Misty Sol. I think this murder was revenge. In the unsubs mind Betti kept them apart."

She thought the unsub was likely at the charity event last night and figured they should review security tapes but she wanted to see what Kellen wanted to do first.

A smile likewise appeared on Kellen's face as his blues met Katarine's greens. He always loved meeting fellow Jedi once unknown to himself, especially Masters such as they which usually made assignments easier and smoother due to their experiences, skill and wisdom.

Kellen turned to look over the body in question as Kat spoke. The terms she used left questions in his mind he would need to ask about. Though he was a skilled tracker himself, investigative work like this was somewhat new to him. He did, however, look forward to learning a new skill as any good Jedi might.

"Forgive me, Katarine. I am new to this side of...work. Could you tell me what a unsub is? I have never heard the term."

The man then stood and gestured to the police barrier as the crime scene analyst seemed to be wrapping up their evidence marking. Seems it was time they got involved and hands on.

"I do agree with your angle. If we can find something attached to Betti I can attempt to see something useful with my Psychometry. It's proved quite useful in the past when tracking targets."
