Something wicked this way comes [SJO Halloween Event]

Voss

As night settled on the Silver Jedi Order's home on Voss, a dark and mysterious presence began drifting into the Temple where the Jedi resided. Any who were still awake would suddenly be worn down by fatigue, Jedi after Jedi suddenly being hit by a wave of exhaustion that was impossible to resist. Slowly, a death-like sleep would settle on the Temple like a thick and oppressing blanket, and into that sleep would creep a dream that would conquer every wall the mind attempted to put up, transporting each and every person within the Temple walls to a village bordered by a forest, a dream so impossibly real that it would take great strength to differentiate it from reality. Whether the Jedi could survive within the haunted realms of the dreamscape long enough to realise and solve their predicament only time would tell...
But time waits for no Jedi.

The Forest

hobaGgC.jpg

The Itaki Forest, located in the mountains of Shri-Tal, was home to a deadly Force-nexus that would drastically affect the mentality of anybody who found themselves within its woods, even those brought there by a surreal dreaming experience.
Frequenting the forest would bring about hallucinations and paranoia, unique in the ability to target each person's demons, and those who had a connection to the Force would additionally be visited by the Dark Side wraiths tied to the nexus. An ancient shrine that trapped the energies of those killed on it stood beneath the lagoon covering the western region of the forest, turned by time into a twisted and dangerous altar holding powers of the darkest sorts.

The thick and dense forest was to some, an ideal hiding place. Monsters of all sort found refuge within the darkness of the Itaki, and tonight they seemed hungry. Whether the sudden source of food would be too much too resist was impossible to tell.

Some, upon waking, would find themselves in an echo of this forest at its darkest and most deadly in which their every sense was heightened and the dangerous mental effects of the nexus - as well as the terrifying creatures lurking in the shadows - would be that much harder to combat. It was up to those who woke up within the forest to be strong; to survive even as everything they saw and heard was altered by unseen forces, as their use of the term 'Jedi' was challenged and they themselves put to the limit.

The Village

iQfw5TD.jpg

While the next door forest offered monsters and a dizzying mental trauma, the Nakumura village had its own host of horrors - though by no means less of a nightmarish experience.
A similarly Dark Force-nexus cast a thick, low-hanging fog over the village, making visibility difficult even within the streets and buildings that made it up. Derriphans also lurked within the ruined settlement, waiting to pursue those who stumbled into their home.
But the abandoned Atrisian village also was home to many ghosts, many of whom were tied to it by the nexus, many who stayed out of choice. Some had no ill intention - lovers, invisible to each other, wandering the streets trying to reunite; children, oblivious to the fact that they existed only within the Force, playing happily in the gardens, or looking for their parents - some had darker motivations; the twisted old crone that caused fear both in life and in death; the wandering dead soul of a malevolent Darksider who liked to torment those he came across. Each had different intentions, a different story; those who awoke in the village of Nakumura would be left to explore and unravel those tales, perhaps even to put an end to one or another. It came down to those who found themselves within the village; in many ways, their strength would be tested beyond what the conscious world could do.

Voss

The Jedi had slept long enough; it was time for them to awake and begin making sense of their new surroundings. It would take them some time, but after having suffered through what the haunted regions of Shri-Tal could throw at them, then the evening before on Voss would perhaps be remembered, and the sudden transportation would be interpreted. When it came to light that they could return, and figured out how - when somehow, they awoke back inside the Temple ready to confront the one who had conjured them into this nightmare - when it happened, well... the one at the head of their adventure would be ready.

Name: Nakumura Village
Planet: Mountains of Shri-Ta

Size: Area

  • Area - The small ruined village of Nakumura within the woods, showing Atrisian design as well as some of the things that have been being developed. Derriphan are within the village and through a thick fog that hangs over it
Development Threads:
Lost Village

Description: Deep within the forest and almost along the edge of the river, the town itself is nestled in a small valley that sinks down and provides cover and allows them to have areas where the trees canopy is not obscuring the entire sky. Sunlight is a rare thing in the forest so the reasoning to make it there instead of right next to the river is more clear. The design is very Atrisian and connects in some parts to the older ruins within the forest itself.

The Town: Simple looking and not very special from any other Atrisian village of its era, the structures are a good mixture of metal and stone with wood paneling and windows. OVer the centuries since it has been abandoned a thick fog has moved in and things move around in the fog from what the few people who go and find it can report.

The School: The old school house where the village was taught, two stories of rooms that housed a couple dozen people from little kids to some of the adults who were looking to learn different things. Training and teaching for things. After the village was abandoned parts of it were sealed up that were able to let in the fog and it has started to show its age.

The Hospital: One of the bigger draws to the area, a hospital in the forest that was protected from attacks by the natural area around it. Staffed by most of the village and treating patients that were brought to it from around the area. After the village was abandoned the hospital became a more sinister place with a feeling of unease in some of the rooms and the surgery suites maintaining a sterile look.

Atrisian

Breathes: Type IV
Strengths:
Dissipation: Their bodies are not completely corporeal meaning they can disappear and reappear quickly over and area. While they can't form in this method of movement they can disrupted and attacks dissipating them while they have to try and reform.

Force Hunters: Their bodies and spirits crave the force to satiate themselves. Unable to really consume enough force energy to stop the pain of what happened to them. Their skills of sensing and hunting down the force users within the forest and the buildings within it.

Weaknesses:
Minimal Movement: The Don-Gai are restricted, bound to a central location and unable to go past the Atrisian Markersthat bind them within it. Crossing the barriers or being forced over them can dissipate and destroy the creatures. Unlike other worlds where they have been found the construction that went into the markers in unknown and tuned with the force to repel and contain them.

Boneless: Their bodies are formed and not really made to be strong when they take shape. It makes them slow moving and unable to actually move properly around. Their shapeless form can be incredibly unnerving to see. When they are in a corporeal and physical form they can be attacked or beaten back.

Hunger: The Darkside ritual that bound them to the alter by the cultists have turned the wraiths ravenous and they seek out force users within the forest with the intention of consuming their energy. Whether this leads to their deaths or not can vary differently as stronger force users might be able to survive but younger ones could risk death.

Low numbers: The Don-Gai are not a species that reproduces, they do not make more of themselves. They are the trapped souls of beings who were sacrificed to the alter and the darkside that have slowly become twisted and angry over their imprisonment.

Madness: Over the time that they have been trapped within the alter their minds have slipped away into a madness. Their ability to think is barely there and they do not really plan or coordinate more treating things as an inevitable conclusion. They will catch the force users or they will fail is the choices.

Races: Darkside wraiths

Diet: Force Energy, Force Users
Communication: N/A
Culture: [Describe general culture]
Technology level: N/a
General behavior: [Describe general behaviors]

History: Not much is known about the Don-Gai but they are not naturally occurring creatures, created by darkside cultists who were in the forest. They were taken to an alter deep within it from the village nearby. ONce the villagers realized what was happening they went after the cult and dealt out their own form of justice but they were to late to help the others. Twenty one were killed in the forest and as the years past things started happenig. Not at first but eventually when others came and disturbed the areas around the alter then throughout the forest itself. THen in the vilage as the elders created barrier markers to contain and protect from them. Around the village and around the forest itself. The wraiths were not very smart, their intelligence seemed to have lowered beyond the base desire to attack and consume force users or those sensitive to the force itself. The few documented cases of darkside wraiths also differed from them, unlike others they were not force users when they were killed nor were they the ones doing the ritual. Binding themselves to the alter and knowing how to retain their minds or invade and plague the minds of others who came to the world. If anything they were significantly weaker in not being able to use mental attacks or telekinesis to attack others but there were more of them, they had the ability to hunt out and find force users within the forest and they retained the looks albeit with paler skin and unnaturally straight black hair. Their bodies when they formed looked wrong, unable to moved completely properly.

Notable Player-Characters: N/A

Intent: To add some lore and danger's to a location as well as add a little more clear strengths and weaknesses to a lesser defined species.

She could feel it, her mind drifting away and allowing the force to flow from herself when she opened her eyes. Seeing the forest all around her she could feel the force energies all around when she reached across the world with her mind. She had been on Voss but she knew this forest when her mind was expanding out and she stood there in her old outfit. Her mind was aware it was a dream seeing the black hair she used to have before she got the silvery white and she was a lot younger. "Strange." She was curious about who else might be here or coming to meet them when she was working on different things. Roaming around and walking through the forest itself. Perhaps something had come after them and was making them travel or perhaps the forest was much like the realm beyond shadows and you could enter it within your dreams to become lost.

Draconis Caesar

Draconis was practicing his saber techniques by the ancient tree in his sacred grove. The old gnarled tree twisted and contorted at odd angles besought by the dark side, but Draco was determined to heal it and this once magical place through meditation and contemplation of the light side of the force. An old holocron sat on a rock near by and a hologram instructed him on the ways of the Soresu form. Grass plains surrounded the tree on all sides and the moon light glistened on the fresh due that had begun to form. A stream gently flowed at the basin of the trees small hill and Draconis became one with its whispering as he meditated on the days previous lesson. Then a wave of fatigue passed over him. He thought it was a symptom of his intense training, but it seemed so much more. It felt like a layer of grease had enveloped him and washed him in filth. He struggled to his feet and saw that the tree had become black and rotted. The life and growth he had trained so hard to breathe back into burnt away by anguish and suffering. The world took on a grey hue and he fell asleep by the holocron.

When he awoke the ancient master who once presided in the holocron stood next to him. He observed his surroundings and noticed they stood out side a forest. The trees looked mangled and gnarled much like the one at his old grove. A ghostly mist clung to the ground and crept through the forest as if alive. Strange noises and distant screams echoed through the forest and Draco could not shake the feeling of being watched. The ground was hardly visible through the mist and the trees seemed to reach out as if to take hold of him and trap him in this dark place forever. Shades and silhouettes seemed always present at the corner of the eye, but when one atempted to look directly at them they would merely vanish. The ancient master approached Draco and grabbed him by the shoulder.

"That place... is strong with the dark side of the Force. A domain of evil it is. Inwards you must look,"

"What's in there?" Draco asked, puzzlement and fear plain on his face.

"Only what you take with you."
