Something Wild

Some of what he said was just common sense, but much of it lacked on her land. When he mentioned setting up a proper environment they could live on with very little effort from her. Not that she minded the care of her plants, but returning many times to dead plants wasn't something Jairdain liked coming home to.

When they finished eating, he took a hold of her hand and pulled out of her seat. His excitement was contagious and she smiled at him, allowing him to lead her to the lab he mentioned. Hylo asked for more precise coordinates to get the conditions in the bed more precise.

"Well, I can describe my land, but couldn't tell you where on the planet I live. Not being able to read is sometimes a bother."

She went on to say her lands were mostly savannah, but it was dry and arid. Also being close to a desert and no river or lake nearby.

Hylo nodded taking the information and inputting the data and combining it with the various conditions of the planet. The big ole machine started churning mixing soil to match approximate conditions and pouring the soil into the large bed. It was all very scientific. The man who installed system had insisted that every good plant lab had one. Hylo nodded in approval as he looked down at the earth. Next the moisture and light levels began to change with the temperature approximating conditions as well.

Edging closer to the dirt, Hylo couldn't' help himself. Stripping off his shirt and pants he dove headfirst into the fresh soil and began to roll. The light and soil felt great and for a moment he lost himself in his excitement before finally remembering he was now half naked in front of... wait she couldn't see! That was perfect! There was no reason to be embarrassed. A calming sigh escaped his mouth as he looked up at her, "Does this feel right?" his face went green, "I mean the conditions! Environment! I'm engaged."

Okay concentrate Hylo. Dry soil, but nutrients were there. Low rain. Okay you can make a garden here!

Hearing him type the information she gave him onto some sort of keyboard, Jairdain heard a machine make some noises around them and what sounded like dirt hitting the ground near to them. When it finished, Hylo apparently wanted to get a feeling for the conditions himself and got into the dirt. When he had mentioned rolling around before, she had thought he was partially joking. Now she knew he wasn't and smiled at his antics.

He asked if the conditions felt close to hers as well as the environment and then stated he was engaged, she looked at him slightly puzzled for a moment.

"I hadn't thought to ask you of you relationship status. Congratulations though! I'm getting close to that myself. Been in love with a man for five years. Have yet to get proposed to yet though. Life happened and while we're still together, we don't get to spend much time as a couple."

Leaning over, she reached her hands into the dirt and felt the environment around it.

"It's close. I have lots of wind and with sand storms now and then, the plants above the ground get torn up."

Firm nods followed as Hylo examined the soil and felt the contents within the bed. "Alright," he said thinking aloud as he looked over at the various shelves of seeds and lawn care product. The first thing he did was create some irrigation channels into the dirt and select a hardy moss to cover the dirt. "To help keep moisture in for initial planting," he said with a nod, "and then when it dies it will help to fertilize the soil."

Moving about he selected a large tree of Concordian Cider, a new favorite of his and planted the seed in the center of the patch. It would provide shade but not be overpowering. flowering desert cacti followed being planted along the edges where they would get the most sun and be in the harshest environment which would be ringed by a poisoned creosote bush that had the prettiest yellow flowers. The colony of the bush would spread in a circle as it was want to do and keep away insects and help break winds.

Taking a deep breath Hylo planted a few assorted fruits and flowers within the center by the tree.

"And now for them to grow...." he said placing his hand on the earth and using the force to coax growth from the various plants. Life started and seeds took root and sprouted, flowers rising up and blooming and a large central tree bearing leafy branches protecting the charges beneath its boughs. The bush grew and ringed in a formation around the garden sprouting yellow flowers. When it was done hylo lay exhausted on the ground staring at the miracle of his work.

"The tree's leaves will fall helping with water retention and compost for the garden over time. Also," Hylo said taking a deep breath and sitting in the dirt nearby, "It should help break winds and shade area's with more delicate plants."

She could almost sense the thoughts going through Hylo's mind at what she said of her home's conditions on Iridonia. He planted a few seeds as he moved about and took a hold of her hands so she could feel the work he had done. He then pointed out the reason for the moss, channels and what it would all do together for a positive end result.

After he had everything set up to his liking, he said it was time for them to grow. Observing his next actions, Jairdain smiled slightly. He used the Force to bring life to everything and large bed lit up to her senses. While her vision to the physical wasn't there, through the Force she could see everything. The interactions and characteristics of each life. When he finished, he lay down in the bed under the cover the now small sapling he had created from the seed.

"This is amazing, Hylo and beautiful. If only you could see it the way I do..."

The though of being able to share her vision with him came into her mind and she wondered if it was possible for her to accomplish. Others had given her their sight for a few moments so she knew it could be done.

Hylo was exhausted. Truth was he just wanted to go and slump under a tree and stay in the shade... wait he could do just that! Hylo walked over to the tree and slumped over onto its tiny trunk laying on the ground. "I like trees, they are so comfortable," he said looking up at the artificial sun and light blocked by the gentle boughs of the tree.

"We can make it bigger," he said with a firm nod, "If you just give me a minute to rest I can show you how on a seedling and then we can try to make a tree grow to full height."

It was exhausting. Some days were better than others, and sometimes he'd be able to do a lot with his plant surge but regardless most of the time growing a garden tired him out or required multiple rests. A nap and a sandwich.

His feeling was felt through the Force after he accomplished bringing life to the plants and Jairdain knew he was going to need a bit of time to rest.

"It has been a very long time since I could just lay back and enjoy nature. At least without having to worry about something happening. I think I could like it here. May I join you? How can you make it full grown in here?"

Hardly waiting on an answer, Jairdain moved to sit on the newly created garden of life around her. Reaching out with the Force, she felt each of the lives that had been brought into being and smiled. In time, maybe she could be just as good as Hylo in this art.

Hylo sighed a bit and nodded, "It's nice and soft on the moss..." and this his face went green. No this was entirely not right. He was engaged and humans often took sitting in moss or rolling into dirt to be romantic. He edged a little away from the woman as she sat down keeping the tree mostly between the two of them. He loved Mara! No romantic stuff to happen here.

"I can tutor you," Hylo said finally. "You can spend some time here and learn a new skill." Hylo was a specialists. Growing plants was almost literally all he did with the force. It's what made him unique in the force. "From seedling to tree I can teach you." He'd done it before. He had taught Spencer how back in the day.
