Source of the Current

Nohemi Allaneh

Order of the White Current
[member="Taeli Raaf"] [member="Connor Harrison"]

Whatever thoughts swept through Nohemi's mind would remain her own. Her expression was unreadable in it's passive cordiality. The diminutive woman had to consider the request of the Outworlder as much as the safety of her people. Of the Order.

There was a shift in the wind, leaves rustling as if sieved from branches.

"Well spoken, Master Raaf," her voice was calm and even, fingers lightly pressing against the music box that she held. "Tell me, what is your opinion of the current events of the galaxy?"

"Besides the need to use a giant dustpan to clean it up?" Taeli asked, smiling slightly as he joked before becoming more serious. "Honestly, and all jesting aside, the galaxy is shambles right now. The Sith have a strangle hold on the Core Worlds, they've crushed the Republic in every engagement bar one at Carida. The Mandalorians are on the warpath now, the Primeval have collapsed and individual warlords are squabbling over what's left. The only stable places in the galaxy right now are the Silver Sanctum and the Galactic Alliance."

Sighing, she looked up at the sky. Connor was being quiet, but she had a feeling that was more so she could answer Nohemi's questions. He was many wonderful things, but he did have a habit of putting his own foot in his mouth occasionally. She did find it adorable, but for delicate negotiations like this, maybe not so much.

"The galaxy needs a chance at peace, but chaos is still the main driving force behind events," she continued. "If we're not careful, it might start attracting the notice of beings and such that time has forgotten. So my opinion is, things need to calm down before more destruction and chaos spread."

Nohemi would quietly contemplate the Jedi Master’s answer. By all accounts, she simply appeared to the picture of passive tranquility. Of neutrality.

Yet nothing was ever really what it seemed.

“Beings that time has forgotten?” brown listless eyes would query Taeli’s comment, probing a bit further. The would would give a slight rush, the sound of leaves sifting in the distance.

“What do you mean by that, Master Raaf?”

"I'm sure I don't need to remind an Adept of the White Current about ... a female entity that attacked on Pyrdr a few centuries ago," Taeli said. "She supposedly sought refuge from the Jedi ... and then proceeded to dominate the minds of the Adepts and subsumed your leader at the time. The name Abeloth might stir some stories you heard?"

It was only something Taeli had begun to think about, but the state of the galaxy over the last four hundred years was something that would be rife for her revival. The Jedi hadn't destroyed that entity with the Mortis Dagger, and supposedly the dagger was destroyed during the Akala Incident, and reports from that time had talked about a disembodied gray tentacle attacking.

Things were chaotic enough, and there had been plenty of death and darkness in the galaxy to fuel such a monster's rebirth. It was something that nagged at her mind, probably one of the only people who had actually had come across those reports as she did research for her trip that Skywalker had also done.

“We do not forget the past, Master Raaf, the past.” Nohemi would reply in a pleasant voice. “History has a tendency to repeat itself.” she said plainly.

“The example you bring forth only brings our concerns to the fore.” those large, black eyes would search the woman in front of her. “The galaxy should not suffer another Abeloth.”

To which case, the caution they participated in regards to their Order.

“Prudence is a virtue well advised.”

"I have always found prudence and caution to be a virtue to live by," Taeli replied, smiling a bit. "I think half of the galaxy's problems would be solved if we simply slowed down and thought about how our actions effect those around us. People are always rushing to next thing, or acting before they even think about what they are doing."

Glancing over at Connor, she had to chuckled a little bit. He was one of those people who sometimes let his actions get carried away before he thought about what he was doing. Flashes of him picking fights with her on Nar Shaddaa and Saleucami came to mind, some exasperation as he rushed off to fight his enemies, bring them to justice, before he could learn things about them that might help in his mission.

"As fascinating as this discussion is, what might your answer be on my request, Nohemi?" Taeli asked. She was enjoying the conversation, but she really wanted to know if she would be able to learn the White Current or not.

Nohemi observed [member="Taeli Raaf"] with a small quirk of her eyebrow. Her eyes were still searching, deciding.

"You answer will come in time, Master Raaf." the woman of the White Order softly spoke to the Jedi Master. "As you say, 'People are always rushing to the next thing, or acting before they even think about what they are doing.'"

A pause.

"If we were to train you Master Raaf, how would that affect those around us?"

Connor Harrison

Guest
Connor watched with great interest at these two mingling of minds – this was far beyond how he saw the Force, but a reason he didn’t want to put his foot in it and ruin it for Taeli. He nodded now and then in support of Taeli, and also for Nohemi in understanding her conditions and reasoning.

It was probably the quietest Connor had been around people for a while without a quip, or butting in, or questioning something.

"It would depend on the situation," Taeli said carefully. "I would never use the White Current in a combat situation for example. As a scholar, it would increase my personal knowledge, so I suppose one way it could potentially affect the surroundings would be if a student wanted to learn about the techniques if they figured out I knew them. But then, it would need to be a special student that would also understand these techniques are not to cause war, but to create peace and tranquility for me to even consider teaching them."

Nohemi would consider [member="Taeli Raaf"]'s words carefully. After a moment, the placid spoken young woman would state.

"Our ways are taught in segments. Much like before youngling taking their first steps, they must learn to balance and crawl first." those onyx eyes would give a slow blink.

"One does not master the White Current over night." she would relay, a slight hike of the wind sending leaves drifting in the air around them.

"It takes years of commitment." Nohemi told her. "We shall teach you, Master Raaf." at those words, the four scouts from earlier seem to appear out of thin air, flanking the Ambassador of the Order of the White Current.

"Do honor your word and we shall honor ours."

"I thank you for the opportunity to learn from you," Taeli said, bowing to the slightly shorter woman. "You have my word and honor that your secrets will remain so and I will endeavor to be one of your most studious students."

Glancing over at Connor, she wondered if these techniques would interest him after all. He was the more take action, boldly charging into battle with no mind to consequences type of person. She certainly didn't mind that about him, but he might get bored or his patience might be tried in learning techniques that were more for peace and protection.

Nohemi in turn would incline her head.

"Then we will teach you our ways, Master Raaf." the dark eyed and raven haired White Order Adept would tell the Jedi. They wouldn't teach her all, but would start slow. Sensing the current, being able to alter it, and then be able to read the scribing of it.

These techniques would take time to master, for the White Current was not something to be trained in lightly. Immersion in the Force would follow, a task that would require intense concentration for one individual. It was baby steps, and would take time.

Time that if the Jedi Master would adhere to, would result in a common, general grasp of the White Current.
