GENERAL INFORMATION
Name: Species 81-A
Designation: Sentient
Homeworld: Junction 01, GenPals Labs, Engineered Species
Language: Basic
Average Lifespan: 25-30 years
Estimated Population: Rare (created for [member="Cerbera"]. Not available to the public.)
Description: With a similar base genetic template to cover the desired genetic traits, each individual prototype appears slightly different and has different skills. Made to assist Cerbera in her laboratory, these creatures work well together (generally), and need little more than a basic overview of a project to start their part of it.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
Breathes: Type 1
Average height of adults: 30-50cm
Average length of adults: 30-60cm
Skin color: Black
Fur color: Blacks and greys
Distinctions: While their appearance varies, these animals are not true to that appearance in temperament or biology. Rodent, Feline, Canine and Reptilian in general appearance, they all sport a glossy coat of fur, dark intelligent eyes, and opposable thumbs on their paws.
Races: N/A
Strengths:
(+) Clever: They are very intelligent. Learning comes easy to them as does applying what they have learned.
(+) High Constitution: As they were made to work with Cerbera and her experiments all of the little critters are quite resistant against common toxins, diseases, and poisons.
(+) Fast: They are light on their feet, agile, and quick. They are difficult to catch and difficult to hit.
Weaknesses:
(-) Non-Combat: While these are more assistants than pets, they are clearly non-combat models- while their reactions in a situation like that may vary from running and hiding to throwing unpleasant cocktails, they can do very little damage directly and while they can survive a glancing blow from a weapon, are certainly not going to survive more than one.
(-) Sterile: Like all GenPals animals, these are sterile to discourage irresponsible breeding.
(-) Proprietary: Like all GenPals animals, these animals require GenPals brand supplements to remain healthy.
CULTURE
Diet: Ominvores. Require GenPals proprietary amino acid supplement.
Communication: Speech and body language
Technology level: Galactic standard
Religion/Beliefs: These creatures know the truth of their creation. It was from the start never intended to be hidden from them. As such, they are deeply enamored with science, rather than religion. In a way that few other sentients ever get the chance for, these creatures know that they have a purpose and are wanted in this galaxy. This gives them a confidence that is difficult to shatter. If not loved, they at least deeply appreciate their place in this galaxy and that their existence was not due to accident or luck, but to deliberation and choice.
General behavior: Sentient, clever, and hard working, Species 81-A created for Cerbera are a loyal and dedicated group. That isn’t to say, however, that their loyalty extends to never questioning her or talking back. Just the opposite. The group consider it their duty to question, to pick apart poor logic, and make certain Cerbera is getting the best out of a given experiment or situation. They are not ‘people pleasers’ as a whole, and would rather challenge and get the correct answer in the end then to meekly go along with what they are told simply because they have been told it.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
More special orders. This one pushing the boundaries of GenPals capabilities in every way. Working hand in hand with GenPals scientists, [member="Cerbera"] ‘leaned in’ on the creation of her order. With the aid of the Sith Master, it wasn’t easy but they succeeded quicker than Cassandra had expected. With tweaking to the phenotypic expression of the genetics, it was possible to make each creature look different for ease of differentiation at a glance in the lab, while their sentience led naturally to different personalities for each.
With force sensitivity and cleverness being the primary traits desired by Cerbera, it was relatively easy to test for the first, and those with the trait were separated out for later training, while those without that sensitivity, well. Culling of undesirable animals had never been a difficulty for GenPals personnel, especially at the Junction 01 location. Most of the subjects without Force sensitivity were simply disposed of, though several of the scientists found use for those that did not fit Cerbera's criteria.
And the second? Complex tests in problem solving took time while also monitoring the creatures for potential psychosis. The first prototypes were capable of replicating a complicated win-or-lose game within a few hours, until they had figured out the most efficient way to achieve the win state every time. Success, and for the moment, stability. But there could be no long term guarantee of that. Fortunately, Cerbera found this an acceptable risk, much to Cassandra’s relief.
