Braze had been here before, alongside Jasper Kai'el Jasper Kai'el , Azurine Varek Azurine Varek , Aadihr Lidos Aadihr Lidos , and several Padawans, when everything had fallen apart.

He'd managed to get the Padawans to safety, but when he went back for the others, he was only able to assist Aadihr Lidos Aadihr Lidos and Azurine Varek Azurine Varek . That day, he lost Jasper Kai'el Jasper Kai'el , and it was clear that Braze was never the same afterward.

Today, he wasn't here for vengeance—he was here for justice. Braze stood ready to support Loomi, equipped only with his Light Armor, Shield Gauntlet, his parrying dagger, Sentry, and his fencing saber, Requiem, along with a med kit packed with supplies.

He had entrusted the safety of his Padawan, Kaelos Vryn Kaelos Vryn , to Drystan Creed Drystan Creed . Braze was aware of the developing friendship between Kaelos Vryn Kaelos Vryn and Vera Noble Vera Noble , though he hadn't spoken to Kaelos Vryn Kaelos Vryn about it. He preferred to let his student decide when to open up on the matter.

But today, his focus was entirely on Loomi Loomi . The helmet concealed his expression, but the intensity of his actions spoke volumes. His force bond with Loomi was fully open, and he moved in tandem with her, taking the lead in intercepting and cutting down any hostile resistance with immense vigor. Loomi could feel the drive within him—an unwavering resolve unlike any she had seen before.

Vera stood near the edge of the tower, the wind tugging at her robes as she listened to Drystan. His no-nonsense approach didn't faze her — she had expected as much. In fact, when he mentioned subtlety, she couldn't help but grin, throwing a teasing look toward Kaelos. Yeah, okay. Maybe stealth wasn't exactly her specialty. But she was working on it.

But then...

"Especially you, Vera. I don't want to ruin my reputation with Master Sword and Master Shield, so don't get blown up."

The grin slipped, her expression faltering just slightly. She didn't say anythin g— she wasn't about to argue with a Jedi Shadow in the middle of a mission — but something about the way he singled her out like that made her chest tighten just a little. It wasn't wrong, necessarily. She knew people saw her as Valery Noble's daughter. But still, it didn't sit right. To her, Kaelos was just as important as she was. If either of them got hurt, it mattered. If either of them got caught, it was bad.

She exhaled through her nose, pushing the thought away.

Drystan flicked his cigarette into the abyss, and Kaelos answered first. Vera shot him a quick look, catching the smile he sent her way. He was always so… steady. And maybe that was what made the moment easier. She smirked in response,
"This is going to be fun." Her mother had been a Jedi Shadow before she became Grandmaster. Now she was about to work alongside one, sneaking into a temple, infiltrating enemy territory.

She was ready.

To say Reina was cut off guard by the sudden appearance of Aris would be an under statement as she nearly dropped the crate of rebreathers she held in her arms. Turning her head to look over towards her fellow Padawan...before lifting her head up and blinking a few times. Kark. He was tall. Reina shook her head for a moment before focusing on handing out a few more rebreathers.

"Got a few more. Not that many. I've got an extra one here if it comes to it."

Reina tapped her own rebreather she was wearing. She felt comfortable enough that if push came to shove, she'd be able to use Breath Control to make sure she wouldn't end up running out of air. But that was a last resort right now. As much as she was comfortable with her skill set when it came to that...Well, it was still a risky play no matter what.

"How many do you have?"

Against all odds, Inanna's words had their intended effect. The Godoan saw the light, gathering up his family and heading for the evac ships.

"Thanks for the help," Aron said, turning to the woman. She had a quiet heaviness about her, like she was a delicate vessel for tragedy, but maybe that was just because of the story she shared. "I'm Aron... and uh, I'm sorry about your homeworld..."

It had been a while since she'd heard that. "Thanks," she said. "It's been doing a lot better these past twenty years or so.

"I'm Inanna." She held out a hand to shake his. "Are you with the Jedi too?"

Whether he had time to provide an answer or not, her attention was soon grabbed by a commotion nearby. She hurried over to see what was going on and was greeted with the sight of a Padawan trying to pry a small Godoan child away from its screaming mother. Nearby, a male Godoan, probably the father, was gearing up to fight back.

"Hey!" she exclaimed, grabbing the Padawan's shoulder. "What the hell are you doing?"

"Th-They won't leave," the startled Padawan sputtered. "They say it's the will of their Goddess that they stay here, no matter what. But the kid doesn't deserve to die because of their religion!"

Loomi didn't say a word. Her movements were swift and with purpose, weaving through the soldiers and past Shan Pavond Shan Pavond , leading her close friend into the depths of the structure. Her hands moved effortlessly, weaving together snares and binds she used to take out the soldiers standing in their way in a non-lethal way. She didn't want to hurt them. They were, after all, just doing what those above them had instructed.

Would she be as sympathetic if they didn't look like her? Well, she still wouldn't use lethal force, but Loomi couldn't help but wonder if her sympathy would be pushed to it's limits. Best not to dwell on it.

The Godoan cleared a path through the chapel, weaving through the chaos before finally claiming an elevator, one which would go up into the Tower of the High. Once Braze was in behind her she was quick to close the door behind them. If they were fortunate enough, this would give them a moment of clarity. Loomi needed clarity.

"I'm afraid," Loomi stated, characteristically blunt for her. "What am I supposed to feel when I meet her? Should I be angry? I... I don't feel angry. I feel more stressed than anything else. I feel like I should have a clear feeling in mind for what should be appropriate after everything I've been through, but I don't know anything about her. I was... taken. So maybe she's just as much of a victim as I was. I feel like I should at least have something to say when I see her. I..."

A pause.

"This is a lot. I'm really worried."

The next wave of military cast would arrive, but notably in less numbers. For all those storming the temple a clear gap in their line would form, leading through the chapel and towards the Tower of the High. A labyrinth of elevators and staircases lies ahead, filled with a combination of Godoan soldiers and military droids. Two points of interest are made clear from schematics, both at the top of the tower: The high council's chambers lie at the top, heavily armored and sealed tight with military grade defenses. A floor above sits the archive, the database where all executive decisions are logged.

Both sit 40 flights above the base of the structure.

Shan held his hand up for a moment to the "soldiers" that were coming up towards him. He needed to collect himself for a moment as the Mirialan reached for his lightsaber and ignited it. There was no need for him to stay hidden now that they could rush into the Temple itself. As soon as he ignited the blade, he felt a small dulling sensation filling his body. Dulling the migraine enough for him to focus as he looked over towards the man speaking towards him, giving him an awkward smile.

"There we go. Now there's not three of you."

An awkward attempt at humour. Captain Deson. Shan had no clue who he was, but then again he didn't know most of the Alliance military. He tried to stay away from that side of things. Military stuff wasn't really something he wanted to focus on but he gave a short nod. How many other Jedi were coming with them come to think of it?

"I'm not knowledgeable about all of my fellow Jedi, but I feel at least five other familiar Force signatures nearby. There's also an unfamiliar one"

Yes. Five of them. Katherine Holt Katherine Holt Braze Kai'el Braze Kai'el Vera Noble Vera Noble Kaelos Vryn Kaelos Vryn and Loomi Loomi . The unfamiliar one was that of Drystan Creed Drystan Creed . For now none of that was important as he shook his head. For now that meant there was at least six Jedi here altogether. Alongside these troops, they might have a decent chance of getting to the source of things

He watched as Loomi made her way through, alongside Braze. Shan debated whether or not to make a joke about them not thanking him for opening the door...but considering the situation and how much it possibly meant to Loomi, he decided to keep his mouth shut. Instead he glanced over towards Deson Sanei Deson Sanei giving him a short nod.

"Those two work together. We should find our own way up. Hope you all like stairs."

That was his way to try and get Braze and Loomi some time to themselves whilst he worked on moving through the Labyrinth. Using his lightsaber to cut through the walls of this Labyrinthian like Temple, so that anyone behind himself, Deson and Deson's "troops" would know what direction they headed in.

"I'll deal with the Godoans where I can, if you guys keep your focus on the droids."

And deal with the Godoans he would. Still sticking to his non-lethal mindset against them as he used his fists and feet against them as opposed to his lightsaber. That was the main reason he was trusting Deson and his five men to deal with the droids. Punching metal would far more painful than punching living beings.

As he paepared to climb the stairs, Shan just sighed to himself, running his hand down his face. Why did it always have to be stairs? Sure there were elevators as well, but those always carried the risk of there being an ambush on the other side. Either way, a stray thought passed his mind as he pinched the bridge of his nose.

Kat's probably having all the fun in the world. She can just fly straight up there.

"Three hundred and seventy two."

He patted the crate he'd brought. A very large, cumbersome looking crate that he had just been carrying in one hand with ease. It was enough to help a lot of people, though, he did need to find those people first. Which was actually harder than he thought. Everyone was panicked, making it difficult to pick out which breathing was heavier because they were struggling with the gas or if they were just struggling because of everything going on. He passed out another, reaching into the box in the process.

"Take as many as you need. I can retrieve more easily, as well."

"You should be relieved… if she's okay," Braze offered softly, his voice gentle as he looked at Loomi. "Maybe… try saying 'hi' or, I don't know, 'long time no see?' Or maybe just… 'are you alright?'"

He paused, considering her situation. He understood difficult relationships with parents—his own relationship with Lady Kyoteru Seraphine Lady Kyoteru Seraphine was strained, to say the least. But Loomi's situation felt different. She didn't seem to know anything about her mother, nor did she have any real memories of her childhood. That kind of blank space must have created an immense wall of unknown expectations for her to face.

Braze didn't know what he would say in her shoes. "The heavy stuff can wait until she's okay. I'd be thankful if she were just okay."

He exhaled a heavy sigh, his own concern for Loomi building as he reached out, setting a hand gently on her shoulder. Through their bond, he tried to offer her reassurance, hoping she could feel his steady presence. "I'm here for you. No matter what happens, it'll be okay... okay?"

Against all odds, Inanna's words had their intended effect. The Godoan saw the light, gathering up his family and heading for the evac ships.

Hallelujah.

It had been a while since she'd heard that. "Thanks," she said. "It's been doing a lot better these past twenty years or so.

"I'm Inanna." She held out a hand to shake his. "Are you with the Jedi too?"

"Technically? Yes," Aron replied. Since leaving Coruscant and shacking up with the Foundation, the lines had blurred. Before, the Jedi and the Alliance were fundamentally intertwined in his mind. Now, he wasn't really sure. The Jedi Code was still his doctrine of choice, so...

Before he could elaborate or ask follow up questions, commotion erupted. Inanna moved quickly and Aron followed close behind. Running towards screaming seemed like a Jedi thing to do.

"Th-They won't leave," the startled Padawan sputtered. "They say it's the will of their Goddess that they stay here, no matter what. But the kid doesn't deserve to die because of their religion!"

Aron gave the other Padawan a knowing look. A few more seconds interacting with that elder Godoan and Aron was poised to haul the guy over his shoulder and drag him to a transport against his will. Inanna spared him from such un-Jedi like embarrassment, but this kid hadn't been so lucky.

"We'll take care of it from here," Aron assured the Padawan. And by 'we' he mostly meant Inanna. She was good at this, as far as he could tell. It wasn't the place for commiseration or admonishment, so he handed a box of rebreathers to the exasperated Padawan. "Can you pass these out for me, please?" Hopefully with the other Padawan gone, the pair could have a fresh start with the family of Goddess-fearing Godoans.

Aron turned back to the family, just in time to witness the male Godoan's smoldering gaze that not even his child-like face could hide.

"Three...Three Hundred...And...seventy two?..."

Reina blinked as she stared at the crate. Making sure to do a doublecheck on Aris. He made it look so easy. Even now, she was needing to use both hands to keep her own box held aloft. Though she shook her head to try and regain focus as Reina started to take a few extra rebreathers and put them into her own crate. She needed to make sure she could help as many people as she could. Fighting was what came naturally to her when it came to helping people, but it didn't hurt to try this out. It helped her see the people, and not just the enemies in the Galaxy.

"I erh...appreciate the help. I'm Reina."

Introductions. That's what you do with strangers right? Introduce yourself. Make sure they know who you were. Sometimes Reina wished she had people she knew with her when she did these kinds of things. Master Noble, or even Everest would have been helpful to have at her side.

Inanna could tell almost immediately that trying to talk the Godoan family out of sacrificing themselves was unlikely to work. The difference between them and the old man was that the latter had been operating on a misunderstanding. These people knew exactly what they were doing, yet they were still choosing to condemn themselves and their child to death.

Still, she had to at least make an attempt. After the Padawan left, she addressed the family. "The air will become poisonous in a matter of days. Why aren't you evacuating?"

"This is the promised world," the mother replied, clutching her child in her arms. "To leave would be to doubt the Goddess."

"It is Her Will," the male added, his gaze stony as he stared back at Aron. "If we die here, we join her in paradise. But only if we remain faithful and don't leave with the others whose doubt has consumed them."

Inanna looked between the parents' faces. She didn't know what to do. She knew the pain of losing her children, yet she couldn't stand by and let this happen either.

Taking a step back, she turned to Aron. "Do we... have authority here?" she whispered. "Can we take the kid?" She was asking if it was possible, not whether or not they should.

"Three hundred and seventy one now. .. Three hundred and seventy." He paused long enough to pass out another, and now it was less with her grabbing some more for herself. He didn't get the exact count, but that was fine. A rough estimation would work just as fine as the accurate number and he certainly wasn't trying to guesstimate based on how much he assumed she could grab. He was really trying not to, anyway.

"Aris. Not the best place to meet you, but it's good none the less. Do you think there's a better place to help?"

Cora lifted a brow. Who liked, as he'd put it, moral grey stuff? After what had happened on Hapes, she had resolved to try and hesitate less. Moral dilemmas were not Cora's strong suit, but inaction seemed to be worse than action.

"Makko," she warned. "We will endeavor to not compromise the long term production."

She followed the line of his gaze to the refinery across the street. There was a guard station near the entrance.

"That means no blowing anything up unless as a last resort. I'll try and talk the guards into letting us pass, but if they don't – you might have to find us a way in."

Cora waved a hand to him, urging Makko to follow her along. She approached the guard station, her body language open and her tone even.

"Good day, gentleman," she greeted. Cora raised a hand in a little wave, then drew it slowly to the side. "We're refinery inspectors from the Galactic Alliance. We have an appointment."

The Godoan guard in the booth blinked. His brow scrunched.

"You're...inspectors from the Alliance…?"

"Miss Yumia, surely you should stay-"

"None of your whining, soldier," Yumia snapped, making her way through the streets of her home. "I will do as I please. Curve your tongue and follow, lest I request new security."

Her tone was quick to shut Kyo up.

"Yes, Ma'am. Sorry Ma'am."

Valette sighed, marching her way through Ord Providence on a mission. She was going to personally hand out rebreathers herself. After all, she was the representative of her people. This was her duty, as ordained by her upbringing. And Yumia, for all the gripes she had with the shortcomings of her civilization, did love her people.

Even if they were difficult.

"It is Her Will," the male added, his gaze stony as he stared back at Aron. "If we die here, we join her in paradise. But only if we remain faithful and don't leave with the others whose doubt has consumed them."

"Do we... have authority here?" she whispered. "Can we take the kid?"

And it seemed she had just walked in on difficulty. Yumia was quick to raise her voice and make her presence known, her fiery voice as an orator on full display.

"Are we going to die over theology now?" she remarked, the disappointment in her tone very clear. "When a plague threatened our lives on Godo we were granted leave for sanctuary, but now the Goddess wishes for us to stay behind and perish?"

Yumia wasn't simply a figure of authority. She was, by birth, clergy. Not of the higher status ones who locked themselves away in their tower, but still a religious leader.

"Pick up your family and go, lest the Goddess weep for the pointless death of her children," the senator ordered. "We do not have time for you all to decide that suffocation is the holy path. Our ancestors fled a planet, do it again, or so help me I will grab you all by the antennae and drag you off this planet myself."

Initiate Kyo, of course, was frozen like a statue. Hearing that fiery tone he didn't dare say a word.

ORD PROVIDENCE

Drystan nodded at Kaelos's confirmation and Vera's remark, his smirk widening at her enthusiasm. Good. He didn't want to waste time giving pep talks to nervous, jumpy teenagers. Their professionalism and resolve were a strong start—hopefully, it would hold as the mission went on.

"Glad you're catching on. If things go well, maybe we'll grab ice cream after. Or whatever you kids are into these days."

He leaned over the edge, casting them a knowing look before offering a lazy salute.

"One thing you two should know about us Shadows: We work hard. And play harder."

With that, he dropped.

Arm stretched, he dove headfirst from the building, free-falling for a few meters before snatching onto a fixture near a vent, halting his descent in one fluid motion.

He shifted, glancing at the vent. Big enough. He made a small gesture with his head as he reached out with the Force, prying it open. His only arm remained locked on the fixture, keeping him from plummeting further.

"Found a vent."

The vent was tight, but navigable with a crouch. As they slipped through, glimpses of the guards below came into view—patrols pacing, security terminals blinking softly in the dim light. Lightly staffed, as expected, but underestimating them would be a mistake. One wrong move and their entire op would go sideways.

"Call out anything useful—" Drystan's voice was low, deliberate. "Lax guards, gaps in patrols, dead zones in security coverage. Anything we can exploit."

This was just as much a lesson as it was an infiltration. He didn't expect them to be perfect—only that they learned.

For now, he'd be lenient.

His own perfectionism? That was a burden he reserved for himself.

"Do we... have authority here?" she whispered. "Can we take the kid?"

"You... want to kidnap their child?" Aron whispered back. Was she giving up on trying to convince them already? Shouldn't they keep fighting for them to see reason? Hold up, "are you even a Jedi?" he asked suspiciously.

Aron considered what Inanna said before, of the tragedy that had befallen her people and how they were alone in the galaxy. Though now he was questioning the truth of it. He met her gaze, then glanced at the child. But before he had time to process it all, a fiery Godoan showed up, scolding the family. There may have been a tiny bit of sadistic glee at the sight of it. Not very Jedi like, he supposed.

Unsure of what to say, Aron pretended to fidget with his rebreather, but kept an eye on Inanna all the same.

"Standing in the middle of the street probably isn't the smartest idea. I'm not sure if there's a a city square we can stand in to get these out to people. Staying at the spaceport might have been a smart idea as well...but there might be people still in their houses trying to take things home."

That was a strange thought for Reina. What could be more important than saving your own life? What item or trinket was worth risking your life? She knew the answer partly. Heirlooms that have been passed down from generation to generation. That's something people would risk their lives for. But logically, Reina couldn't understand that. She had never had any heirlooms of her own, or any family to pass things down to her. So for her, most items were just that. Items.

"You... want to kidnap their child?"

"No!" she hissed. "I don't want to do anything to these people. But an argument can be made here that they're endangering the kid. Parents who endanger their kids can have them taken away by CPS or whatever, right?" It may be that the Jedi didn't have the authority to take a child, but there were others who did. "We can't force the parents to leave, but the kid is too young to make a decision like this. It's not fair."

"Are you even a Jedi?"

She ignored the question, having already explained her reasoning. Moreover, a third party had just gotten involved.

"Are we going to die over theology now?"

Inanna winced as Valette Puritis Yumia Valette Puritis Yumia inserted herself into the confrontation, chastising the family for their beliefs. Sure, it was understandable to be angry. But as seemingly everyone in the whole boneheaded galaxy continually failed to understand, people don't respond well to disrespect.

The mother clutched her child tighter, while the father's expression darkened. "You're one of them," he said. "The ones who doubt the Goddess. You would make idols of the priesthood, have the people obey your counsel over the will of the Goddess!"

"Okay, let's not get out of hand here," Inanna interjected, holding up her hands. She turned to Valette. "Ma'am, you're not helping the situation. I'm going to have to ask you to leave."

"No. I will speak and you will listen to me now."

Yumia removed her hood, stepping up to the Godoan man to look him dead in the eyes.

"As your senator and a studied clergywoman, I have dedicated my life to both understanding the teachings of our people and representing our needs. No such passage in any of our texts ties us to a single holy place. In the Om'lethon, it is stated:

"'Let the fair breeze carry her people away from the claws of harm, for should her children cease to be so shall she,' so spoke the prophet Yumith the Tall."

If we were unfaithful, than we shall have been cast to the depths for leaving Godo."

The senator spoke clearly, with organized tone of voice and a depth of knowledge. She was not going to be ordered around here. Not when her people were trying to get themselves killed.

"We are asked to survive so that our Goddess survives in us," she stated. "That is the way of our people that has persisted for hundreds of years. Are you going to look in your child's face and tell them to die?"

"Hmm.. That's true. They're all home in one way or another. Probably getting poisoned without realizing how bad it is." That was the danger of some gases. He wasn't too sure what this one was, but if it was a silent sort of death then people would be even more comfortable staying at home as if they were alright. They couldn't evacuate everyone themselves, could they? He hummed n thought for a moment longer before shaking his head. No, they were better to focus on this. On getting these people masks.

He handed out more, his brow knitted together.

".. Should we run into the homes?"
