Public SSB Carnival and Expo [ Hosted by CIG ]

Persephone watched the various expressions play out on Lysander von Ascania Lysander von Ascania 's face as he explained his reasoning behind the kiss. Eyebrows shot up in surprise as he mentioned it was his first kiss. Certainly didn't feel that way when he had kissed her back, pouring his emotions back into the act. She didn't quite know how to take it. Sure, a boy had liked her before. This was a little different ; trying to transition after the flush of a first kiss, first boyfriend had dissolved.

Part of her was scared. Another part was thrilled someone else saw her in a light beyond friendship.

"Why did I kiss you on the cheek? Cause you gifted me the necklace. I figured it was just nice to do, it was a sweet gesture." She paused, debating telling the truth for her next answer. Shouldn't start off hiding her true feelings. "The bigger kiss cause you called the kiss on the cheek 'cool' and it made me angry. I wanted you to be impressed. Or at least feel something beyond cool."

Quiet for a long moment, Persephone took a deep breath.

"I like you too. I...I just don't know...If you should kiss me again. Or be more than friends. I'm not sayin' no...just scared is all."

As she spoke, time seemed to stand still for Lysander, frozen in his seat beside her. It was a foreign mix of disappointment and confusion settling in him, but he fought to maintain a facade of nonchalance. He tried to mask the thoughts churning in his mind with a smile. “Oh.. I thought maybe it meant more than that,” he said. Ignoring the view from the wheel, he found himself glued to Persie for a moment. “It made me feel that I wanted to show you that I felt something, too.”

The Padawan fell silent once more for a moment, his eyes then drifting to the space on the floor between them as he searched for the right words. He knew he wasn’t always serious, often masking his intelligence behind a more carefree demeanor. “I get it," he finally said, his voice just above a whisper. His eyes darted back to hers. "You're just so different from the Jedi girls back on Coruscant. They're.. well, odd, to say the least."

His expression turned more earnest. “Around you it feels like I can actually breathe. It's refreshing. I'm okay with just being friends, really.” he said, straightening up a bit. “Besides, I’m not just the goofy guy you know, or what many people see. I’m much more than that.” Lysander's voice softened. The teen's heritage felt like both a blessing and a burden, caught between his playful persona and the person he needed to be. “It’s probably best if I stay focused with my studying. I know I'm going to accomplish great things later.”

A hurt look crossed her face as Lysander von Ascania Lysander von Ascania explained his feelings further. He seemed to slam walls up quick, as if he didn't just hear the words of her being scared to explore something beyond friendship. Did he only like her because she wasn't a Jedi? It sounded a lot like it.

Arms crossed against her chest, immediately shutting down herself. It was stupid to think anything different, that Lysander was different than any other teenage boy in the universe. Persie felt dumb that she ever entertained an idea of kissing him again, of putting herself out there about being scared. It wouldn't happen again.

"I'm sure you will, best stay focused on your studies then."

She slid away from him, near the door of the ferris wheel. The ride away thankfully coming to an end. Ready for the whole carnival ordeal to be over with and the night to be done, she barely waited for the attendant to open the door before she was stepping out and into the exit line.

"I think I am going to call it a night. Safe travels back to Naboo."

A curt nod and she briskly started to walk away. No doubt her personal security droid would follow her all the way back to the hotel room after staying back during the carnival. While she didn't appreciate the droid at least the bucket of bolts could ensure she wouldn't be bothered by Lysander again.
