Stand Together

Evie was wanting to get out and explore the galaxy. So far she had only travelled from her home to Alderaan and then to the location of old Alderaan. Back on the new world, she heard of somebody looking for a copilot and companion in his travels. Her own flying ability was limited to her own small ship, but with her mind connected to the Hive, she had access to a great many things. Piloting was just one of them.

She had messaged the person looking for the copilot and they had agreed to meet up at one of the cantinas in the spaceport. Deciding to meet there in case he hired her on the spot, getting to his ship would be that much easier.

Her personal posessions were rather limited and the only weapon she had was something that looked like a club mixed with a staff. In reality it was also a gun and made to look like something from nature. Most people carried weapons of some sort and hers was strapped to her back and easily accessable. The clothes she had were well made and tailored to fit her. While Evie didn't have much in way of credits, everything she needed had beed provided to her by her people and the Killiks of Alderaan.

The hood of her cloak was down and her black eyes and hair shimmered in the light. Those eyes indicated her connection with the Hive mind and were pitch black, they revealed almost nothing of what Evie thought or felt. She took a drink of what was in front of her while she waited for @Varain to show up for the meeting. Having showed up early, she wanted to get a feeling for the cantina and its people.

Luke breathed in and out, "Excuse me?" he asked as he stared at the Bith, his voice a clear indicator of his frustration. Naras Vol looked away for a moment, they'd caused quite a few issues already, and now he was being told that they had missed the seller because they'd gone to get drinks, lost a portion of the money gambling, and the seller now had a different buyer. Varian waved his hand to the side, "You know what, no, this isn't a first, this isn't the only time I've warned you. You and the rest of your crew are done. I'm going to find someone else, go find your own ship. You've already spent my money I'm not wasting any more fuel on you."

Luke sealed the ship closed and sat down in his transport running a finger along his brow for a moment. He was still in most of his Mandalorian armor, something he wore rather often. So Varian sent out a request for a copilot, make his job a whole lot easier on a ship like this, and he could enjoy some company of people who weren't imbeciles. He'd gotten a contact back, and they'd agreed to a location to meet.

He flew the ship there so that he could arrive on time not long after the agreement, and would mostly stride around in it for a little while after landing before he exited, leaving his helmet in the ship. As he walked he saw who he thought was the copilot, they were here early, that was nice. Didn't seem to have much on her though, but that was fine. He'd be taking care of most expenses himself.

The Mandalorian walked up having to sometimes walk sideways to get through the crowd, and as he approached [member="Evie Miramat"] he gave a bit of a wave until he actually got close enough to talk and reach out a hand to shake, "Hopefully I didn't keep you waiting, if I'd have known you arrived early I'd have left the ship sooner. I'm Luke Varian, I think you're the one who answered the request?" he asked with a bit of a smile.

Just to check, he hadn't said what the request was, of course he was pretty sure this was who he was supposed to talk to. And if it was they already knew it was to be a copilot, but he liked to be sure.

She had given him a brief description of herself before they met. It would make identifying her that much easier when that happened. Since she had very few posessions, she wasn't worried about taking up much space on his ship. He needed a copilot for space journies and she wanted to explore. To her, this seemed like an ideal arrangement.

His own description of himself was spot on and she stood up to return the way he gave her. Watching him as he made his way through the crowd, there wasn't anybody very close to her. Some of them must be aware of what she was and gave her room. They feared becoming of one mind and the unknown it brought.

Shaking her head when he mentioned he had kept her waiting, she shook his hand and let go after holding it for a few moments. "You did not keep us waiting long. We are Evie Miramat," the hand that just shaken his raised to her heart and then her head before falling back to her side. "Would you care for something to drink?" Evie might not have many credits, but she was sure to have enough to cover the drinks while the two of them talked.

Varian glanced at her eyes for a moment, well, that was vaguely intimidating. Not the scariest thing he'd run into, but probably one fo the strange. He chose however, not to bring it up, though the use of the "we" was certainly recognized. After proper introduction from her he nodded his head again, wonderful, "Pleasure to meet you. Luke Varian. And..." he paused on the comment about a drink, well, he would be paying for almost anything else along the way, "Sure."

"So then, might I ask what it is that prompted you to answer the request? If the answer is just that you wanted a bit more credits that's totally fine. Not gonna quiz you or anything, just curious. Sometimes people have stories, sometimes they don't" He said with a. shrug.

He asked what prompted her to answer his request for a copilot and the answer was easy to provide, "we wish to learn more of the galaxy and have gotten lonely travelling alone." The money was just a bonus.

When he agreed to the drink, she motioned to one of the server droids. Once it arrived, she placed her order and looked at him, "what will you have?" Once Luke ordered, the droid would roll away and get the drinks for them.

Evie's answer might be a little different, but it was the truth. While she was never truly alone, she lacked real companionship. By answering his request, this opportunity solved both of their issues. She wasn't travelling alone, was able to view the galaxy and he got his copilot.

"Do you have any specific worlds in mind?" It didn't take long for the droid to return and the drinks were in front of them. "What salary are you paying?" It seemed right to find this out before either of them agreed to the employment.

He nodded thoughtful as she answered his question about why, "Ah, adventure, nice." simple words but honest enough. As he was asked for the drink he looked at their glasses for a moment in thought, "A Grog would be good, thank you." he responded before returning his attention to the woman, she seemed odd but who was he to judge. Her answer and statements were all peculiar.

She asked about the specific worlds and salary soon after as he got his drink, he took a quick sip before returning to answer, "At the moment, Balmorra where someone had an overproduction of weapon parts, and then Vulpter to talk to a junker about a couple old ships, then, if I can get the proper permits, I want to check out Duro and Corellia. It all depends on who has something to sell really. There's always someone on some world with something they don't want or want to trade."

He leaned back in thought on the next question, "As for pay, you have options, and decisions, to make. What I'm saying is all based on if you are part of the people who go out and find stuff, like what we'd be doing pretty much. You can either A. Get a portion of the profit from what you bring in, for instance, if you brought in an old blaster, and it's repaired, and we make 10% more then what we paid for in total cost and repairs, you'd get 2% of that for yourself, if you were a permanent employee, some of it goes to your fuel. Naturally the more you get, the more you get paid.
B. You can get paid per job in general regardless of profit, but rather have an analyst just take a look at what you brought, and haggle with you about what you want to sell it to them for, essentially you buy from the person, then we buy from you.

C. We just pay you per day, 100 credits at the moment would probably work. I find this the easiest way to be honest.

If you stay on more long term there's more contracts we can work out. But if you'll just be with us the next few planets, I'd say it'd be easier to just work with C or A since I already have most of our pickups scheduled. Since, you know, I kind of own the company I'm not gonna bother taking profit from this, so you'd be paid as if you're doing this alone. Don't do B unless you plan on actually going off without me though."

It was fairly long to speak, but it was certainly much shorter then the contracts that they had. Of course, he'd get up a short contract that had all of the details in line, but for now it was better to just give her the sum up. Sometimes he could scare people off with all the details, even if he didn't think they had an issue. He took another drink from the Grog and awaited her answer folding his hands together around the glass, "You'll definitely get the exploring part, we meet a lot of people this way. Personally I kind of enjoy it, which is mainly why I still do it."

Evie listened to Luke as he explained the various payment options and his travel plans. Her answer of exploring and just seeing what was out in the Galaxy did not appear to bother him which was good. What she said was true, some places were known by the Hive and information about them were shared with her. "We think there is another hive minded race on Balmorra. Things might have changed since my kind were there last though." That have been more than 800 years ago, before the Empire of Palpatine had destroyed the original Alderaan.

"We agree that option C would work the best. It provides a guaranteed pay and no worry about having the haggle or prices of items. We have no interest in making out own way entirely. Maybe when get a better understanding of how things go down." Right now her plan was stay as a copilot for as long as Luke wanted or needed one. She would gain knowledge, understanding, credits and being able to explore the Galaxy.

Without having any set job figured out before leaving her home, this was the first opportunity that had come up that filled the criteria of what she wanted. All the time he spoke, she sipped at her drink and set the empty glass down on the table. "If you would have us, then we agree to option C and we can begin when you are ready. We have nobody to say good bye to and have very few belongings."
