HYPERLANE CHARACTERISTICS
- Speed: Very High - while certainly an ambitious undertaking to attempt a major hyperlane through the Unknown Regions, the Starbird hyperlane project received significant early investments from the Republic Engineering Corporation & Technoid Manufactorum to improve its chances for success and the support of Concordia and the Outer Planets Alliance with its development. The combined resources of these galactic powers and megacorporations allowed for the use of expensive S-thread Booster technology to provide stable jumps through turbulent areas of hyperspace. In addition, the route was charted with the expert assistance of the Spacer Guild.
- Accessibility: The Starbird Trade Spine is a publicly accessible major hyperlane that has been marketed across the Galactic Alliance, Concordia (Silver Jedi Order) & the Outer Planets as the new primary trade route between the Core Region and the Outer Rim. Announced as a direct response to the Confederacy’s “Confederacy First” doctrine, the Starbird Trade Spine serves to connect several smaller trade routes, allowing for fast and convenient travel through the Unknown Regions from Commenor all the way to Varonat.
- Route Hazards: The Deep Core section of the Starbird Trade Spine is only kept stable through the use of S-thread Boosters. The Galactic Alliance and the other parties involved have done their best to provide some degree of redundancy in case of minor issues, but should a significant malfunction take place it could spell disaster. Because it travels through the Unknown Regions, travellers are advised to be cautious when stopping along the route. Combined security forces work tirelessly to try and keep the trade route safe, but it is impossible to patrol the entirety of it and the few rest stops it has at all times.
- Rest Stops: Although there are many rest stops along the hyperlane, most are remote and offer little outside of basic refueling services. Starships are encouraged to exercise caution when stopping, and are asked to alert their presence to any nearby authorities for their own safety and security, as the Unknown Regions can be home to various undesirables.
DESCRIPTIONFollowing the controversial Confederacy First executive order and its supporting mandate issued by the Vicelord of the Confederacy, many citizens, officials and corporations in the regional galactic community began to express concerns over the ramifications that increased border security, tariffs and taxes might have on the flow of trades goods and assets through Confederate space.
Resolving to act quickly to take advantage of the situation and minimize the risk of a negative impact, the Galactic Alliance announced its intent to chart a new hyperlane to ease the growing worry. Support came from various high profile corporations, and the collaborative efforts of the Order of the Silver Jedi and Outer Planets Alliance. With the Galactic Alliance at the head, the three governments committed supplies, manpower and support to the construction of their new hyperlane. The Starbird Trade Spine now serves to connect the Core Region and the Outer Rim, while bypassing the Confederacy and its new policies altogether and placing Coruscant at the center of a seamless trade route between Concordia and the Outer Planets Alliance.
