Depending on how strictly the ranking restrictions are adhered to, I would be concerned with having new would-be pilots be in technically a non-flight status. Granted there's plenty of ways around that (like having an NPC pilot in a two-man ship) but it still seems a bit harsh to me.

Would be pilots will be able to start off immediately as Pilot Officers, and will never be forced to have non-piloting roles or ranks. The non-piloting ranks are there specifically to offer a starting placement for players who would like to be non-flight status.

In most, if not all Aerial Forces, you have to be an officer in order to pilot anything. I could be wrong and Star Wars could have a different system, but you have to be an officer in order to sit in that cockpit. Enlisted or non-pilot positions go to things like the deck chief / mechanics / radar tech, etc.

Flight officer is the lowest commissioned rank that an active duty pilot can hold in terms of Star Wars lore. Perhaps it would be a good idea for that (or really anything equivalent) to be the highest rank offered to new recruits. It would be no different from Ensign in the Navy.

[member="Ishana Pavanos"] It's for that reason that the system is based more around the SWRP rank style of Trainee/Adept/Elite rather than NCO/Officer/Command. The two don't align perfectly because we want Trainee characters to still have options. Therefore Officer ranks are available to Trainees.

[member="Greta Kohler"] As has been said, Major is an Army rank. The rough Navy equivalent is Commander, and the rough Starfighter Corps equivalent will be Lieutenant. The SFC does have a Major position, but it is much higher-ranking than the Army Major.

Lt. Commander is actually not going to be one of our ranks, that is a clerical error that will be amended.

I'm almost finished revising the ranks, they will be up shortly.

With that in mind, I guess I have to settle for the Lieutenant position instead if I want to be in the SFC.

With the upcoming implementation of the new Starfighter Corps ranks, I am going to be reducing the newly-introduced 100th Fighter Group to the 100th Fighter Squadron, the unit's new role will be fleshed out shortly, as well.

The overall intent with the new SFC will be to group player characters together to form larger player-run units. With that in mind, I already have two characters already prepared to play Flight leaders (4 TIE Fighters) within the 100th, in [member="Nils Brenner"] and [member="Pierce Fortan III"]. I could make it a full-fledged PC squadron with 2 additional Flight Leaders, if you are both willing to play Lieutenants.
