Starliner Blues (wide open)

Verz heard the third of the people in front of him speak. She said she set him on fire? This didn't stand well with him, but he calmly responded.

"And why would that be? These passengers felt threatened. It is the duty of a Mando'ad to protect those who cannot do so themselves. I suspect those stormtroopers felt differently. Besides ad, they shot at me."

"Alright, if you could stop channeling Palpatine that would be great." Sarge had dealt with enough people like that four hundred years ago, he didn't need to be dealing with more right now. The arrow slotted itself up another notch, where it could hit her square in the chest. "So let's make all peaceful like and not degrade into a larger gunfight."

One could imagine his eyes probably moving to the stormtroopers. "Yeah... bit late for that."

About to answer Spencer, Ashin opened her mouth, then closed it as the men felt the need to speak, too. The stormtroopers returned from various corners of the ship, having secured various things. Because variety was the spice of life.

"Don't be a fool, Mandalorian," she said quietly. "I can sense the glee of slaughter from a mile away. Talk of duty when you're not shaking from bloodlust. And you, Null..." She focused on Sarge. "I have none of Palpatine's taste for murder. When you have influence, or power, you have a responsibility to use it, and use it right.

"Child," she added, approaching Spencer with every indication of ignoring Sarge's plasma bow, "I know you sense the Dark Side in me. I became a Jedi at fourteen, and I served well, until I was poisoned in such a way that I was cut off from the Light Side of the Force. So I faced a choice: Let myself fade away and watch my friends die, or learn to master the Dark Side and help them as I could. I'm not a Jedi anymore, nor am I a Sith, though I've learned from many of both. I think I can fix the galaxy, and I could use your help."

Spencer shut out the rest of the scene, she watched as the woman approached her. She cringed slightly as she was referred to as a child. Spencer didn’t think of herself as such, but with her youthful appearance and lack of battle experience gave a way too much. Her feet didn’t move as if she was glued to the ground, the blue light that glowed from her necklace started to spread along the Padawan’s body. Gulping, she listened to the story. It was hard to listen too, she couldn’t imagine being cut off from something she knew so well. The light was so comforting and she didn’t like knowing that it could be taken away.

Ashin said all the right things. Spencer always constantly wanting to feel wanted, to feel needed by someone, she never really had a purpose in life. It was a constant search for her, with Erich she knew her place with him and now with Ashin she felt needed again. Her face lit up as realized she could do something wonderful with this person…who walked the gray line of the force. She had heard about these types of Jedi…or Sith. They were something different; they worked of their own free will and dabbled in both the light and the dark. The smile from Spencer faded thought, she had realized something…

“I’m just a Padawan though, I can’t control anything…I can’t even control my stupid jewelry. I can’t do anything to help you. I think you totally got the wrong girl; I’m just an idiot that feels too much from force users. I’m an Empath, the force allows me to feel what someone is feeling…from you though there’s so much at once…I’m still learning. The masters at the temple, they took me from my parents when I was an infant…I don’t know anything else besides the temple and the Jedi Code.”

Spencer shrugged.

“I really don’t see what a hyper sensitive Padawan can do for you? I can’t even control the force as well as I should, but the connection is easy for me”

As Spencer spilled her guts, she scratched the side of her face in confusion. She moved her body slightly a bit as the lace from the dancer costume started to ride up in places that were not very comfortable.

Orrin had been present, but up until now he was rather silent on things. This woman was far more knowledgable in the ways of the Force, but he'd offer a hand to see that the right thing was done. Stepping forth in his black armor and armed with his blades as was his usual he'd move towards Verz. Having been acquainted with the man he liked the Mandalorian, but this was the point where he'd reveal something about himself that the Mandalorian wouldn't like about him. The girl could probably feel his emotions by now. Orrin was feeling a great bit of concern from him if she were. Which was obviously true. He was concerned for her as a point of what happened to him in his own life. The youth would perhaps also feel a sense of determination coming from Orrin as he stepped through the crowd and made himself seen by standing close to Verz.

"Let the child make her own decision. I pull from both sides, just as you do, but I do feel as though sometimes that path walked is not for everyone. I hope that at least on this, we can agree."

Verz laughed at the dar'jetti's response to his statement of protectin the weak. Oh how little she knew of Mandalorians. She was most definatly dar'manda. He lowered his Verpine, but was not at all surrendering to the stormtroopersstormtroopers aroundaround he area.He merely wanted to talk for a bit now.

"What would you have me feel about battle? All I know is what I know. War and batle bring me closer t my ancestors and my god."

A laughing Mandalorian, a cool-headed fellow with a bow trained on her, and a black-armored man who seemed to take her for some blend of Dark and Light.

To be fair, that description could apply to basically every person in the galaxy. Ashin used the Dark Side, accessing power through cold anger. Her goals were her own, but she had no illusions. The Dark Side twisted her mind a little each time she used it.

It was, for her, the price of doing the right thing.

"Let me show you what I can do...and I think, with your gifts, you'll be able to do this even better than I can." A low, droning hum began in her gut, a trick of focus that let her tap into the deeper frequencies and themes of the universe. The grand, slow currents of the Force reverberated, and the emotions of nearly everyone aboard the starship began to even out as if they had been dosed with off-brand antidepressants. "No more fear," she said. "You can feel that, can't you. I don't even know how to imagine what someone like you could accomplish with this power. The being who taught it to me spent much of his life on a planet full of slums, evening out the depression and frustration of the entire world. I think you could do the same."

She turned to look at the Mando and the new arrival.

"Imagine that. Whole worlds free of the kind of slow, repressive sadness and torpor that have been imposed on them by the tyrants of politics, economics and ideology. Whole worlds that could feel hope again, and energy enough to accomplish things or better themselves."

Verz felt a kind of stupor descend upon the starliner. He felt himself grow tired. But he tried fighting, chanting the Dha Wherda Verda in his head, and felt more awake with each verse. He grew angry at the Force as well, and was awake enough to speak an insult to her.

"Spawn of Arasuum!"

Sarge released the arrow for Ashin's knee, aiming to stop her mid-stride towards the woman that was his charge. Or rather, the stupid giant 'IM IMPORTANT' sign she wore about her neck. "Right, nutjob with a complex. All I needed to know." Almost immediately, another arrow was slotted.

"All I'm hearing right now is 'I want to remake the Empire', and friend, that don't sit too hot with me."

Spencer felt the new arrival; it was hard she was trying to focus on Ashin. She wanted to understand the woman and where she was coming from. Being close now she was able to see the woman’s face understanding a bit more of her story. The new man stepped forward and mentioned something about choosing her own destiny. Spencer really never thought about that – she never really had a choice in life. She was taken by the Jedi when she was very young; there was always a part of her missing. She didn’t have a choice…never had a choice.

While she thought of everything, something washed over her. Blinking, she felt her mind pulled back to the conversation she was having with Ashin. This power that the woman portrayed, she was like her maybe. The feeling in the room was different; Spencer felt it instantly as she looked around then finally rested back on the face of the Dark Jedi.

“You think I…I could do this too? I just feel emotions I can’t change them. You must be really powerful…you can…can teach me this?”

Spencer moved even closer, her body moving on its own as she started to realize what she could do if she learned this power. Making an entire planet happy, removing pain and fear from them, and feeling wanted. A smile spread across her face as her hands clasped around the gem around her neck. The light changed from a blue to a soft green then slowly dimmed returning inwardly.

“Hey the light is gone. I want you to teach me please. I want to help people!”

It was then the other man spoke. She heard the firing of the arrow he had prepared and what he was saying. Looking over at him she shook her head quickly. He was going to kill her chance and making the world better. He could take away the one time she had a choice in this life. Quickly as he reloaded the second arrow, the young padawan pushed the force towards him. It was the only thing she could think of at this time, knowing her luck though it probably won't work, though it was worth a shot. Looking towards Ashin once more, Spencer quickly spoke.

"I'm Spencer Jacobs, please take me with you."

Ashin paid little mind to the Mandalorian's insult -- an insult was not an attack. Instead, as Sarge released the plasma arrow -- an attack she sensed more from her experience with the human body than from the Force, null as he was -- she raised her hand and a casino table intercepted the projectile. Both disintegrated into a rain of flaming poker chips and sabacc cards.

"Ashin Cardé Varanin. Pleased to meet you. Quickly, into the boarding shuttle."

The entrance to said shuttle was still remarkably close. Nobody, after all, had moved very far away from her first point of entry into the casino deck, an emergency airlock that hung open between a pair of slot machines.

"Wait!"

He called out as he looked at the young girl. Taking the time to remove the pressure locks on his helmet and with that a low hissing sound would escape from the helmet before he'd set it off to the sie.

"What she offers you is not real. Not true in a sense. How happy would people be if their happiness was enforced? If their minds were never really their own? You weren't given a choice as to being a Jedi correct? It would be no different for the people you would think to help. Be better than that. Take the time to think. Child, this woman offers much, but poison can easily be honey coated.. There are people here that are willing to defend you if you wish to make a choice. But how well of a choice will you be making if you go with her? If you take the time to impose upon others what's been imposed upon you? I know a bit of what you've gone through. As you and she can influence emotions, can read them. Perhaps not to the degree that you can, but I can still search feelings. "

OOC Moment:: I'm not gonna be around for the next few days guys. Have a fight on Saturday. Have hotel check ins and whatnot Friday. I'll be back around Sunday or Monday. So...obviously means I'm saying that I gotta be skipped. Catch you guys later.

"You think I'm talking about mind control?" Ashin snorted. "I've had my freedom of choice taken away before - I would never do that to another."

Verz looked atthe black armored figur who had shot the plasma arrow. He considered hisoptions, then spoke to him.

"It seems neither ofof us want them to leave just yet. I propose we work together, at least for now."

Spencer blinked as she heard the other start to speak to her about her options. Why was everyone so worried about what she chose and what she did with her life. There was just so much going on and all she wanted was to do something, to feel important for once in her life. Looking towards the shuttle then back towards the men that were here attempting to save her from herself, she grinned and moved towards the transport.

This was going to be her sense of freedom and an escape from the mundane life she lead with the Jedi. It was an adventure and she was going to choose to explore and learn whatever she could from Ashin. Her hand clasped her necklace as she moved into the transport. Looking back she memorized the scene she was leaving – something inside of her told her to remember these faces. Turning away, she waited for Ashin so that they could leave.

“This is my choice and I’m going to do with it as I please….”

"So be it."

As Spencer moved into the boarding shuttle, Ashin and her surviving stormtroopers closed in around the entrance and began to file in. The stormtroopers nodded to Spencer in greeting, an incongruous hint of camaraderie. Ashin guarded the airlock, wary of intervention.

The kid was in the ship.

That could have gone farworse.
