Stealing Candy from a Black Hole

2017_02_02_4.png
Abyssal Maw Research Station
Sith Space Outskirts

Deep within the Outer Rim, whispers of a power station like no other reverberated throughout the halls of the Emergence Government. Whispers that grew. Murmurs turned to shouts. Shouts bounced back and forth within the chambers of the highest authorities. Shouts that when finally concluded, made their way to the four Superiex. The subject was discussed only briefly with a decision far from conflicted.

Ignorant Children had no right to handle such technology.

[member="Darth Carnifex"] had commissioned the construction of a power station that drew from a small Black Hole. One known as the Abyssal Maw, found in the outskirts of Sith Imperial Territory. The science behind it was breakthrough and tremendous. It exploited the most powerful phenomena known to the Universe. And yet here it sat, alone, almost forgotten. Hidden from the Galaxy, from the People.

The Emergence rested upon several pillars but one of its greatest and strongest, were the ideological pillars of Science and Technology. And to know that the greatest collective of Primates, the Sith, had engineered one of the most advanced aspects of this pillar, generated both Surprise, and anger. Surprise that the religious zealots had finally diverted resources to something other than their arrogant war machine. Anger, that such primates would even dare to handle, much less isolate something of such paramount importance.

And so it was decided. This Technology, for the sake of the Galaxy, would fall under the hands of The Emergence. What the Sith knew, the Emergence would learn. What they held on to, would be torn from their grasp and never returned to them.

______________________________________________________
Arriving in an Iron Thorn Corvette, thirty Void Troopers, commanded by Void Captain [member="Vii Valravn"] will escort [member="Lucinda Larr"] and a single I-APE-A Emergence Protocol Droid to the central database of the station. This I-APE-A must be connected to the database, at which point it will proceed to download every byte of data collated thus far. Once the data has been collected, the station and the rest of the megastructure must be destroyed.

______________________________________________________
Objectives

Candy Theft:
  • Take an I-APE-A Protocol Droid to the central database of the Research Station orbiting the Abyssal Maw. Make sure it connects and downloads. Protect the droid as it collects the data.

Sanitation:
  • Kill everything that moves. Unless it's on your team. No witnesses.

Defend:
  • [member="Vereshin"] - Protect the station, preserve the data, survive.

Conclusion:
  • The Sith, nor any primitive group should be in possession of such technology. Destroy everything. De-orbit the station and ruin the collection megastructure. They weren't doing anything with it anyway.

Lucinda narrowed her eyes slightly as she stared out of the viewport. She didn't sit while on the bridge of the Iron Thorn. She stood on her feet with her arms crossed over her chest. Going into the territory of Sith didn't please her in the slightest. She hated Force Users with a passion and only tolerated them when she had to work with them. Just barely though. Never one to give out all of her thoughts to everyone, nor be very social at all, her own personal views were kept safe during times like these.

"Are you sure that the Sith aren't keeping a keen eye on this sector?" It wasn't as though she was some lightsaber wielding Force User. Nor was she capable of combating their tricks. As for how much faith she had in those that escorted her, that was to be ascertained during this mission. The important thing was to collect the data that she needed. Destroying the structure and station afterwards would prove to be an enjoyable aspect of this as well.

"I wouldn't rule out the possibility, We must be ready for anything" Vii Said, Standing not far from Lucinda, staring down at a panel as he made preparations for the mission. I broadcast was being sent to the enemy station, informing them of a "Routine Supply Ship" and it's impending arrival. the emergence had timed this mission perfectly.

"Once we arrive, Give my men a moment to clear the hanger. We'll be landing In a smaller hanger, Relatively light on security, so this should be quick"
He then shuts down the panel and puts his helmet on, connecting him to the unit's neural network. within moments, all void troopers on board had received orders from the captain and made their way down to the boarding ramps, weapons ready and waiting. they were all either prone and waiting for the enemy, or in cover behind various cargo crates and containers. and at their head, Captain Valravn's own recon squadron, ready to act fast to ensure their quiet arrival on board the maw, and lucinda's protection.

The captain takes a moment to check his weapons as the ship approaches, beginning to touch down in the hanger. he swipes across a nearby panel and looks to lucinda as the bridge door hisses open. "Shall We begin?"

"Do you require an escort General" The cold metallic voice of one of the many droids that he commanded asked as his transport ship hovered above the research station. It was standard that he would at least take some droids with wherever he went no matter how he sometimes detested there company.

"No I will deal with these vermin myself, stay out of scanner range and await my signal for pickup" the one good thing about commanding droids was you didn't need to tell them anything twice. Jumping from the ship onto the roof the cyborg general heavy mechanical feet clacked as he made his way to one of the many doors leading inside. He had excepted the door to open automatically but when it remained closed he activated his lightsaber cutting a hole large enough for him to pass through.

At first glance he found nothing special about the way facility but that didn't matter to him, his goal was to locate and eliminate any potential witnesses that could alert the Sith to their true intentions here. He walked down the corridors looking for anyone who could be a problem if the reports were correct there was nothing in the building that would prove to be a challenge to him another reason why he had told his droids to stay away.

Give them a moment? Of course she would. Lucinda wasn't about the be on the front lines. Especially when pitted against the Sith. No, she'd let others be the cannon fodder while she waited to initiate her own objective. Still, it didn't hurt to be armed.

She unfolded her arms and nodded to [member="Vii Valravn"] . "No time like the present." One hand double-checked that her blaster was still holstered on her belt behind her back. And it was. That was a good sign. No one had tried to steal it as some sort of joke to try to lighten her mood or get her to loosen up.

The I-APE-A droid was summoned to her. Lucinda gave him a curt nod. "Stick with me. No matter what." The tone in her voice was enough for the droid to tell that it was an order, and not some sort of assurance. Droids weren't alive, of course. They were just useful machines that could be recycled when their purposes were served.

Hopefully this droid could do as it was programmed to do.

"Indeed, No time like the present" Vii gives the order through his neural command network as the ship begins to land.

Hold.

The Ramp hisses open as it begins to lower.

Hold...

The ramp subtly thuds against the smooth deck of the hanger bay. a small group of sith troopers walk casually towards the ship, ready to greet the presumed captain of the supposed cargo vessel, though the ship seemed different than the usual model that the empire sent. odd.. they all look to one another for a moment before one steps up onto the boarding ramp, leaning forward slightly, looking for the crew.
"Hello?..."

For The Emergence! Fire! The sith troopers are met with a series of glowing symbols for a split second as the void troopers all peek out from behind their cover, the last thing those troopers ever saw were the various triangular lights upon VT helmets, glowing like burning coals in the dark interior of the landing craft, followed by a quick burst of red blaster fire.
From the bridge, all anyone heard was a single second of humming blaster fire, followed by dead silence. Vii looked to the scientist, lucinda, and gave her a quick nod before exiting the bridge and stepping into the room with the rest of his troopers. the lights flicker on, revealing the full company of Void troopers, and Vii's own Recon squadron, waiting in complete silence. His men leave the landing craft, covering their flanks and front, blasters forward and profiles low before making their way to the next door. Vii takes one step out of the craft, looking around for a moment before drawing his pistol and marching steadily towards his squadron as the rest of the VTs unload, six or so VTs stay behind to escort lucinda, while the rest make their way towards the doors, stacking up single file on either side of the recon troopers who already flanked either side of the door.

The Door hisses open as a pair of sith troopers attempt to enter in order to check on their comrades who haven't responded yet. the first one is pulled in suddenly by the arm, pulled directly on to an oncoming vibro knife to the throat, while another recon trooper simultaneously bursts through the doorway beside him and tackles the second trooper to the ground, getting a jab in with his vibro knife. The Recon squadron moves on ahead down the corridor to scout ahead, occasionally sending info to the rest of the company and blasting cameras while the standard VTs line up beside various doorways throughout the corridor. once each door had at least two VTs, they timed their opening to sweep each room at roughly the same time to minimize the enemy's possibility of getting messages and warnings out. there were a brief few minutes of blaster fire, some metalic thuds against the walls and even a few pained groans before silence fell once more. the company left each room single file and joined a three column formation headed deeper into the station. They were like a machine, completing their current functions and then moving on to the next, no stops no breaks. Just clean and quick efficiency, Just as they had been trained to do. It made Vii proud. The captain follows the company onward, eager to see what lies ahead, and comforted with the knowledge that his men had remembered their training well, and would perform thusly.

Objective: Sanatation

His audio recptors picked the sound of footsteps in the distance, they judging by the sound of the steps there was only a 10% chance that they knew he was in the building. Stealth was still something that he was getting used to, his cybernetics afforded him many benefits but they were loud. Moving with the speed that should be impossible for someone his size Menace made his way to the location of the steps and he was in luck there was a group of scientist it saved him the trouble of hunting them down. But just to make things more interesting he used his cybernetic eye to scan for the source of power.

Ripping the power cord from the wall he watched in delight as the lights turned off causing panicked noises from the scared men. The emergency lights flashed causing the hallway to be bathed in red every few seconds it didn't matter now there was no need to be stealthy. He could have used his lightsaber but that would have made too much of a mess and he wanted to take one of the men alive so that he could ask where others might be hiding. Aiming the blaster he fired one shot hitting one scientist in the head killing him instantly the others now altered to the fact that they were being attacked turned to run but it would do them little good. He fired again hitting another square in the chest he fell to the floor gasping for air he would eventually bleed out so he was of little concern to the cyborg. The last man was too afraid to do anything cowering against the wall.

Menace stepped over the dying man and grabbed the shaking mess by his lab coat lifting him with little effort "I am only going to ask you this once, where are the others? and how do I find them?

"There's a security team in the other part of the facility they are highly trained and well armed, you'll need my acess codes to even get to them and you can have them just don't kill me"

Lucinda just stood there, poised like the droid beside her as the blaster fire erupted. As the minutes wore on, the expression on her face could almost be read as boredom. But no, she was relaying the map of the station inside her head so that she'd head straight to where she needed to be. The confidence that she had in [member="Vii Valravn"] to complete his objective was enough for her to have no fear in this mission at all. The station was barely active with minimal staff. Funny that, given the advanced technology that it held. She'd of treated the place much differently. But less staff meant that there'd be less people to kill. Whether or not there'd be retribution for this was anyone's guess. It could be that the SIth didn't care for the station at all and focused more on their Force abilities.

Idiots.

When enough distance seemed to have been made in regards to the Emergence troops and the ship, Lucinda began to proceed with her mission. Almost on cue, the droid and VT's walked in unison with her. She didn't even glance at the bodies on the ground. To her they were nothing but clutter: useless and just taking up space.

One of the bodies began to move. A VT was quick to stop it though with a direct blaster bolt to the head. Lucinda didn't even blink. She just kept walking. The station was a maze, yet she had it well thought out. To the left, follow the corridor down to the fifth junction and then go right. The second door was supposed to house the room that they needed. More than likely it was bound to be locked and secured. But just exactly how was what they would soon find out.

Objective: Steal the good stuff, bonk anyone who says otherwise. Bonk anyone who isn't EE.

Vii and his company made their way down the next corridor on the left. A few sith troopers turn suddenly only to be gunned down in a sudden burst of blaster fire. Vii continues with them, further towards the back so that he may react and coordinate faster if something were to happen to the front of the formation. unfortunately, a single door had been missed by one of the VTs with him, the door opens suddenly and a sith trooper bursts out of the room, firing at Vii. a single blaster shot hits his shoulder plate, singing it slightly. so sooner than the trooper fired had vii drawn his pistol and shot the man in the torso, knocking him back against the wall. Vii looks at his shoulder and swipes the cinders off and into the air with his free hand before looking back down to the trooper, and putting a blaster bolt in his helmet. he then continues his march with the others as they clear out each and every room along the way. They knew through the neural links that the captain was quite displeased that they had missed one, they would double their efforts.
Then they reach the right turn on he fifth junction, splitting up their forces slightly. once the recon team had found the large sealed doors to the control room, Vii ordered them to scout the other turns. Six Void Troopers remained with linda as they had before, five stayed behind to cover the rear at the beginning of the right turn on the fifth junction, and the remaining nineteen accompanied Vii to the door. He stood there for a moment, observing the would be entrance to their objective. of all the things that would prove to be such a minor inconvenience today, A door?

"Ma'am, I would suggest standing back." He said, be it in person or over the comms. he then proceeded to open a pouch on his vest, pulling a single Blackjack grenade from it and then slamming it down on the ground in front of the door, the spikes planting it firmly in place. He turns and walks to a safe distance along with the rest of his men, and then taps a button on his vambrace. by the time he had turned, the door had a hole in it almost as large as the hallway to it blocked. before the smoke and dust had even settled, Several VTs took a low profile and entered the room. A short series of blaster shots lit the smoke red for a brief moment before total silence fell over the facility.
A moment later, Vii looks to lucinda and nods. He and the rest of his men march into the control room. The other detachments continue with their assigned tasks, holding the rear and scouting ahead.

It pained him but he let the welp down he sputtered as he landed on his back the cold floor was just as unforgiving as the cyborg general that he was currently in the care of. He seemed surprised that he had been allowed to live but those access codes were important you couldn't move around freely without them, so the scientist was allowed to live for a while longer. The security team was much more important in the grand scheme of things.

"You will accompany me to where the team is and when they have been dealt with you will be freed, do not bother trying to negotiate with me I will not ask again. I hope for your sake that they have not changed the codes otherwise you would be of little use to me and I hate useless things."

"Of course I'll lead you right to them just follow me"

The scientist began walking trailed by the towering cyborg. It was not ideal but Menace would make due, he studied the facility in more depth the layout was interesting. It almost reminded him of the facility that he was repaired in after he had suffered his injuries, when he all human capable of feeling emotions and enjoying life like any normal person could. He didn't talk about it with anyone else but he missed those days and he missed his family, his fist clenched with so much rage that it was almost visible from his body.

Objective: Candy Theft

Lucinda continued at an easy pace through the corridors. More bodies and structural damage lay throughout; a mess created by [member="Vii Valravn"] and the VT's as they proceeded ahead of her. Upon the Captain's words, she held back, stopping in her tracks.

In and out. That was all that this mission was supposed to be. For half a moment, Lucinda pondered keeping one of these Sith alive for 'study', but then thought better of it. She'd get her test subjects later.

Once the door was blown and the coast was clear, she continued down the hall towards it. Debris, dust and bodies lay strewn about. Luckily for them that there wasn't any self destruct button, otherwise they could all be dead by now. Numerous terminals dotted the walls. Some were decoys that didn't have much that they controlled. But two of them were real. And only one of those had the access port that they needed. Lucinda just had to sort out which one it was.

"I need the panels above the access ports removed. Carefully. I need to study the wires. If we try to upload data from the wrong port, the droid will be fried. And I don't suppose you have a spare, do you?"

[member="Black Conscience"] [member="Menace"]

Vii looked at the panels she had mentioned, all lined up on one side of the room. Vii wasn't exactly a slicer, he had trained for quickly removing the empire's troubles, not fixing them.

"Afraid Not ma'am, no spare"

He makes his way over to the panels along with a pair of VTs, the three of them begin very carefully unscrewing and removing panels. very slowly pulling up each panel, vii lifting one side, a VT lifting the other, and a third VT watching to ensure that the wires were intact. most of the panels were removed with little to no issue, though one had wires attached to it in such a way that they couldn't remove it. Vii was sure that the scientist would be upset. he bends down to check one more time before finishing their work with the panels.

"Most have been removed.."

Menace had finally reached the location of the guards, but as the scientist said there was a huge door blocking his way.

"Your codes put them in NOW" the man went to the large computer and input his codes. It made noise and seemed to be working but then there was a flat beep and it turned off. Menace was furious he had come all this way to eliminate any threats but because of some blaster proof door was blocking his way. The scientist must have lied to him to keep himself alive he turned on the stunned looking man and advanced on him fully intending to slash through the man.

"Wait" the panicked man held up his hands "They must have changed the passwords automatically, we normally change them every 4 days for unessential personnel like myself, it's not my fault"

Menace didn't respond he just took his lightsaber out of his hand and stabbed the man through the chest, he was not a man who liked playing games he would find a way to complete his mission no matter the cost.
