The trek to the hidden cave was exciting to Tempest. She enjoyed how much her Master taught her, even when he did not speak what he was thinking. She sometimes just felt his thoughts alter, as his expression would change, or his actions. She could sense something in the works due to his reactions even those most subtle. She determined the Valley of the Jedi a place where anything can happen. She wondered why anyone would ever choose to leave here.
The Force is strong, where she stood at the opening to the ruins, buried under a sand dune. The stone arch entrance is the tallest Tempest has ever seen. Pillars and mighty totems erected before the passage, alerted all with the design to enter that this is no ordinary palace. She felt the Force calling, a sensation of urgency, coaxing her entry. She obediently followed the lure. One step inside and darkness engulfed her being entirely. She turned around, but did not see Master [member="Syn"] beside her any longer. She drew her lightsaber for assurance. Feeling a chill breeze from the chamber ahead of her, the Padawan walked towards it. A large gong hung in the center of the room, inscribed with writing as would an amulet. A single shaft of light peaked a crevasse located far above her head along the arching stone ceiling, and instantly it lit the room through its reflection.
Neither will Master Syn find her within. Everyone who enters, faces themselves, alone…
The inscription among the gong glistened in the sunlight. Tempest approached. She peered into the golden scryer and her reflection mirrored her most hidden of emotions. She saw her own expression, her facial features, angry and tormented. It perplexed her.
A whispering imposed upon her thoughts. She recognized the voice as that of her adoptive father. ”Tempest, do you think my knowing you did not change me in any way, enough that one regretted deed would define me throughout all my years?” Tempest saw the face of her Late adoptive father appear over her shoulder. He was at his worst heated moment in life. She had never seen him wear that look, so enraptured by evil. His eyes filled with darkness, hatred and wanton to sin. His sudden appearance startled her and she recoiled from him. Turning, expecting to see him standing behind her, she instinctively swung out with her lightsaber engaged. She would have struck him down, were he truly there. She spun around again, thinking he merely stepped around her and she only saw him appear again, inside the boundary of the enchanted hanging scryer.
”This was who I was before you brought your light into my world.” the dead man proclaimed, as his features softened. ”I long regret my mistakes. I vowed to make it up to you throughout all your days. Even separated, I still hope to uphold my promise. Please, tell me that I am forgiven for what I did to you.”
Tempest could not believe the turn of events. It was only yesterday she learned of his guilt. He killed her father, then raised her as his own. ”You made me forget what I saw you do,” she accused, enraged and seething in return. Her image of her entire childhood became instantly tarnished when she learned the truth. The wound was very raw.
”Master Syn!” she cried out, but the Force in this place would not permit her to be heard.
