Strike Witches (Camellia Swift)

Ayumi Pallopides

Heir to the Emperor, Former Senator of Denon
RENDILI

Ayumi stood on the ship, they cargo bay was secured and the shadows observing the cargo.. their special cargo as the engines to power and practice were being observed by these researchers from Sasori's science division. They were working to make sure it was stable and she was trusting [member="Camellia Swift"] to have come through. They were going to test the isotope on fighters before moving to larger tests to see if the Will of the Force station would be able to handle it. Granted she was looking at some of the designs and they were very strange.

"Hail the lady Swift, she should be happy to see us and we can begin here, there is a great deal going on and we have everything hopefully we need to test these out." Ayumi looked at the small crates with additional isotope rods they had gotten to test the engines. If it worked and she was hoping between the armor tests and the ships it would stay stable they could move from it all until they got to the station backed up with the Rendili reactors and a solar ionization reactor. "Camellia Swift, this is Ayumi. I have arrived with the package and am ready when you are."

Oh Camellia Swift was very happy to see, or rather hear about, the arrival of Ayumi Pallopides and the Silver Jedi's shuttle in system. After all, it was now her turn to play the gracious hostess. The Rendili woman would give a tour much like she had been given when she had been the one visiting, flirt and play cute as the other girl had, and then once all their business was over, she would take her out to a lovely restaurant on the planet below (something with high quality nerf perhaps), and end the evening by taking the lovely Ms. Ayumi back to her own abode for the night.

Of course all that was rather. . . .unrelated to the actual business she should be thinking about. Which she reminded herself of when she heard Ayumi's voice break over the comm unit. "Lady Pallopides, one of our traffic control personnel will contact you momentarily with landing operations for one of our station's hanger bays. Once that is determined I will head down to meet you shortly and we can begin right away. We have several testing areas prepared with a few snub fighter models to test the smaller isotope power sources. We also have setup a location just outside the system to ensure maximum safety when testing the larger reactor. I hope to see you shortly. . . . . .oh and I already made reservations for the evening to repay you for the wonderful time you showed me before."

Ayumi looked on and had a small grin on her face while she heard the news. The looks she got from the jedi around her but they didn't say anything as Ayumi took a moment to think about what to say. "That sounds wonderful." Something that could cover all the bases for this endeavor as she checked her hair making sure no strands were out of place while she moved securing her equipment while the ship arrived on the station. The E'ron classes were made for this job and all five decks built to give them what they needed. Ayumi going to meet the personnel who could and would lead her around. She spoke. "This is an amazing place, I can see why Rendili has been one of the more lucrative shipwrights in the galaxy."

[member="Ayumi Pallopides"]

"It has a history."

Camellia would smile as she walked toward Ayumi and her group. The CEO of Rendili Stardrive personally was going to show her guests around the shipyard. At least briefly while on their way to the testing facility. It was a little deeper into the station, as the construction berths themselves and the hangers sat more towards the exterior. Which gave plenty of time to talk, and allowed for a variety of sights ranging from a few docking bays where cargo and visitors were loading and unloading, to small construction berths with transports and corvettes in production, as they walked out the hanger and down several corridors passing through different sections towards the specific testing facility for the isotopes.

"After all the company was one of the first shipwrights to ever exist, on a world that helped found the first republic,and whose ships have ranged throughout the galaxy for several thousand years. We have a lot behind us to back our word and reputation."

Ayumi listened and gave a nod of agreement to that, there was history here there was purpose and power. That was a big thing when it came to being a trusted name and well she also knew that sometimes that didn't matter, she fully expected once this worked, if this worked it would lead to problems. Suddenly every power in the galaxy would know all about it. It would be like magic and so she was working hard to make sure no one except the few knew about it. She was just glad in the end Camellia was a good person not willing to sell out all secrets. "Did you make a special fighter to test it out or are we using a common model? If everythign works would be nice not to have them stand out."

[member="Ayumi Pallopides"]

Camellia wasn't in the business of selling secrets. Not only was it just pathetic and low in her opinion, it was damaging to Rendili's pride if its shipyards ever had to rely on subterfuge and stealing the developments of others to get ahead. Rendili Stardrive deserved its name based on its own products, and it had plenty enough of those that the young Rendili woman saw no reason why the company would require the technology of someone else to make themselves marketable. After all, it would be discovered quickly anyway, and leave them rather disreputable as well as behind in their own research projects. "It has all been set up with a common fighter in mind. After all if the starfighter had to be special for the reactor to be installed it would make it a moot point to develop the isotopes the way you have. The only thing special is that the testing chambers we will be accessing will be heavily shielded in the case of a poor reaction. Its been used for similar projects before."

In fact they were at the room now, and as Camellia opened the door, the glasteel window could be seen with a dim red shimmer on the other side where a shield lay over the see through material. Past that could be seen the Aurek Strike Tactical Interceptor chosen for the testing. Just waiting for engineers and technicians to install the reactor.

Ayumi gave a nod of her head to that, she trusted in everything prepared to happen and creating some thoughts to it all now while she stood there looking at the shield then past it to the technicians. She wanted this project to succeed, she wanted it to become a powerful thing that could push them forward as they made quite a sight. The technicians and shadows bringing the reactor, the one of the group for the interceptor. She didn't want to waste time but rushing ahead would prove dangerous this hadn't been used or tested in thousands of years as she spoke. "We'll turn over the reactor for your men and it looks good. Here is to a good test." She wished there was a glass of champagne or something to celebrate, she wasn't giving into doubt about the reactor... That wouldn't be good it had to succeed.

[member="Ayumi Pallopides"]

They could save the fine wines for their dinner as celebration. Because Camellia fully intended for the test to be successful as well. Everything had been prepared, the reactor unit was all set to go to be placed within the craft, all the internal ports and couplings the same, just waiting for the new power source to be hooked into them. it was cheaper and easier to conform just the reactor's ports than it was a whole ships since Ayumi desired them to be fitted on common craft. So Camellia watched the teams bringing in the reactor be led into the testing chamber, and watched as they began to install the new unit into the interceptor. "When they're finished. We'll go when you are ready. This is your project, you may have the honors." Pointing to a control with some choice buttons on it, Cam smiled at the other woman as they waited hoping the offer to turn the soon to be empowered great wasn't just overly dumb friendship style as she thought it sounded.

Ayumi gave a nod of her head to that and looked at the reactor being installed. Then the buttons as she had to have her smile. This was it this was one of the finest things she could want and a good sign as it stood now. They could make this work and they could celebrate later but as she rubbed her hands together for a moment in anticipation they needed to work on a few things butshe had plans down the line while moving about. "Alright then lets wait and see to this. Your pilots I am a little envious, normally I wouldn't ask people to do something I haven't done myself."

[member="Ayumi Pallopides"]

"Oh what do you mean?"

Camellia could tell that Ayumi seemed to be anxious as she moved around the room. It couldn't be any risk of being present, not after all the other dangerous tests that had been performed at the labs the other woman owned and operated. Envious of her pilots. . . . did Ayumi want to fly the starship around if the reactor worked? Sure it would be a little faster, but the shields and weapons wouldn't be noticed unless it went through combat testing and that might not be the safest. . . . . actually upon reflection the ship being tested was likely no good. A special starfighter should have been made. The reactor had more power than the snub fighter's parts could output, it would probably need enhanced engines, laser cannons, and a new shield generator to get the most from the reactor.

Ayumi looked at her. "I prefer not asking others to do something unless I have done it before. Their risks should be mine to take." She shrugged though while looking on and smirking a little. "It is one of the things I disagreed with in the senate, I didn't like the idea of judging people without looking them in the eye or accusing them of spying." She was more then ready for this and it was making her antsy in anticipation as she stood there looking on. She was like a kid on life day wanting to open the presents.

[member="Ayumi Pallopides"]

Well then, Camellia wasn't exactly sure what she ought to do then. She very much didn't want to put someone at risk who was rather important to the entire project, but at the same time there was no good reason she could refuse Ayumi either. This was a definitively groundbreaking design, and it was clear the other woman had worked long and hard for it. It would be a great honor to be the one in control, in the end Camellia was seeing less and less like she had the right to deny her it even though she had been thinking logically and safely and hadn't meant to be insulting. "If you wish to be the one to turn it on and pilot it for the first time. . . .then once we know the reactor won't blow and we move it to the data testing phase you may be the first in the cockpit. I'll have them prepare a flight suit and manual for the craft. . . . .though I realize now we should have developed a special fighter after all. If this works and it generates extra power then we'll need better engines, weapons, and shield generators to incorporate the new reactor design of yours."

Ayumi nodded to that, she turned her head and held a grin now almost running over but not quite. Her arms grasping the woman's shoulders and speaking. "Oh that would be exciting nothing better." The talk about a special fighter got her attention though and she had to admit that yes they would need a way to handle the excess power. They could get it with the data and plot it out as she moved to the woman's side and nudged her just a little. "Oh we'll get there don't you worry, you got to get excited not every day you have the chance to see such a powerful thing in action. We will be alright... or we'll fail and go back to the drawing board, it would mean I get to spend more time here with you. See a silver lining."

[member="Ayumi Pallopides"]

As Ayumi's hands rested on her shoulders Camellia found herself feeling a little flushed as her face turned a little red. Something that persisted as the other woman continued to nudge and prod her as well as saying such things as how there would be a rather enjoyable silver lining to the two of them getting to spend more time together. Considering their dinner dates already and such, Rendili Stardrive's CEO certainly wasn't going to argue with that consideration. So she did her best to smile energetically since they were so close to completing this next hurtle to their goal of making this reactor work. "Well then you make me almost wish it would fail, but since I know how important this is for the both of us let's hope it works. Either way, we'll still be spending time together while we do complete the work on a fighter that will be using this advanced power source of yours."

Ayumi gave a nod of her head to that as she was looking on towards it. Thinking about the reactor failing with the dangerous substance, the real trick she was thinking about now as she turned around was on her datapad as it came up. She had been thinking about a fighter and what they could do on it. With stronger weapon and shielding systems they might be able to get it more compacted and faster or they might be able to make it a good bomber type. She had so many ideas while raising her eyebrows. "Well you'll have me here for awhile, I don't plan on leaving just yet and still plenty of things to see and do." Ayumi was prepared as the silence came over and she was ready to see it begin.

[member="Ayumi Pallopides"]

Then it was decided. They would develop a ship that would have the strongest engines, the strongest weapons they could outfit on it, and the strongest shield generator they could pack into its frame. In other words, it would be powerful! Camellia smiled at her associate, pleased that Ayumi would be staying for a while longer. Her mind was awhirl with all the different potential designs that could be employed with such a device with so much output. It made her grin wickedly imagining the Republic, no maybe even others Rendili could work with reasonably under contract with good intentions, with an array of these fighters at their backs! "Let's get started then! Don't forget you have the honors here. Begin when ready, we can plan out the starfighter once we get the data."

That was the way to go about it and Ayumi was punching in information on her pad as she spoke and was moving. "Well then we shall begin." Ayumi moved, going out of the room and following to a room to change as she put on a pilots suit for this, she got led out to the test fighter and looked at the pilot. Camellia could have the data but she would test it calmed her mind as she sat in the ship. Her eyes flicking around while she went through a mental checklist to start it up and the cockpit canopy closed while she started the ship up. Checking the outputs while keeping the ship from going forward. "It's working."

[member="Ayumi Pallopides"]

This was actually rather stressful. If something were to go wrong, even just a fluctuation variable that couldn't be accounted for, there would nothing to it. At the very least Camellia just hoped the other woman would be ok. After all, equipment could be replaced, a ship could be swapped out for another, and resources could be recovered, but a person, especially a rather talented and admittedly likable person like Ayumi was, could never be substituted for another. Still, this was the safer of the tests. They had conducted similar work when Rendili Stardrive's CEO had been the one to visit the other woman's place of work. The real concerns lay in when they tested whether or not the larger scale reactors worked out fine.

After several tense minutes it seemed as though everything was fine though. It was a little anti-climatic from Camellia's view, but the engineers and technicians moving about seemed much more aware of the actual situation. "Good, um. . . .we're getting data on this side. What do you see from the ship's readouts on that end? Give us some time to track and record everything and then we'll let you start revving things out to get more information."

Ayumi started when she heard the request and was counting off the readout. Her technobabble foo something few others could do while her hands glided over the cockpit not changing anything but keeping it calm and stable. She could feel it vibrating in her body all over and it was like her father had said the best pioneers and engineers did... Strap some wings on a shoebox and put a rocket on it... Then you'll have a first flying machine which while might have been a crazy notion wasn't such a bad thing as Ayumi finished and looked forward. Her senses were expanding outwards to take it all in and she was working on her reflexes to catch the small changes in readouts in case something happened.

[member="Ayumi Pallopides"]

Some of the technobabble was understandable to Rendili Stardrive's CEO, but she typically preferred to be told the hard numbers and the basic outline of the equipment in a manner of cause and effect rather than in the manner of a bunch of math. So in the end she found herself drifting away from the board of instruments that her company's technicians were hovering around and analyzing, instead reaching for her communicator as she put in the frequency for the development teams several levels above their current location on the station. The conversation she started with them she tried to keep as brief as possible while Ayumi continued to rattle off information to the engineers and tech junkies near the controls. After all she was still trying to keep as much attention as possible on the ongoing experiment. What she wanted to know though was if the design they had scrapped for being too costly due to its energy requirements was still in the files.

And it was.

Once she heard that, Rendili Stardrive's CEO stayed on the channel while waiting for something significant in the test with Ayumi and the new reactor to warrant her focus, because if she could get a ship ready that could make the most of the reactor she knew Ayumi would be pleased.
