Strike Witches (Camellia Swift)

Ayumi Pallopides

Ayumi had a nod of her head, as the numbers stayed steady she was still going with the technicians and well she wanted to take it out but knew that wasn't the process... You didn't just start flying the first test of starting it up meant just that.. start it up and see how it holds then some movement at low speeds gradually moving faster and faster. For now she waited until they said they had a steady baseline before shutting it down and opening the cockpit. Her grin remaining on her face as she rolled her shoulders now climbing out and touching the side of the ship. Could have been worse or dangerous but this was a good start and soon soon she imagined they would have what they needed to really make it quite a sight to behold. "I think that was a good start."

Camellia continued to leave matters with Ayumi and the technicians at the boards while she stayed on the line with the department in storage and records as well coordinating to find out if any of the work done on the ship design that had been scrapped had culminated in a prototype at all. If it had it would certainly be a lucky breakthrough since they could begin testing to see if the reactor they were constructing could allow them to field it efficiently without all the scares of powering its design. So while the other woman apparently finished gathering data for the reactor in the test chamber, Camellia was grinning triumphantly as she received news from the engineers that were was indeed a completed prototype frame for the starfighter in question.

With that news Rendili Stardrive's CEO approached her business associate as the other girl climbed out of the test fighter. "Indeed it was. I'm hoping you can go make sense of what they gathered so we know what we're working with. In the meantime we can start having your techs and mine start yanking that reactor out and bringing it back to the hanger. We have a starfighter design that was deemed to energy demanding and thus too expensive to produce, but if your reactor can work with it then I think we'll be fine and might be able to start producing these for the Republic, Jedi, and maybe other groups out there. Hell anyone fighting the Sith if I can convince everyone to be ok with sharing the design."

Ayumi looked at her and spoke. "That might work but this isn't something we're going to be able to exploit heavily or produce for fleets. If several groups start fielding ships against a single enemy then that enemy is going to look for the source of their newfound troubles. That could lead them to Shri-tal and they migh try to make the people suffer there. The Silver Jedi are strong but they are not able to face down sith armada's when the Republic or Jedi order barely wants more then to insult them." She was rambling while going over the data and pointing to the design while the technicians she had were working on the reactor and getting it out to be used in this new frame. "I am not going to risk millions and make other groups try and find the source of the isotope."

Those were some relatively good points, Camellia had to admit she hadn't thought about it like that. Essentially what she had wanted to do was arm everyone one she could against the One Sith, but at the same time she wasn't trying to single out any one people to become victims to achieve it. So she thought for a moment while the woman in front of her continued to handle the analyzing of the data with the technicians and engineers until Rendili Stardrive's CEO felt she had an idea. "Well we certainly have to provide a few to the Silver Jedi's Order because it is your reactor. However, it wouldn't be right they would be the only ones. Perhaps there is a middle ground? What would you think? May Rendili Stardrive field a few for Rendili's Defense Fleet? The fighters would only appear in engagements where the Republic calls upon our planetary forces how does that sound? I can also promise to leave out details of the reactor in reports, and they shouldn't stand out too much compared to other fighters."

Ayumi listened to the middle ground and that got a nod of her head. She was always glad for compromise which helped and besides she couldn't deny this to people... Just could deny it being massively used. It brought her attention around though as she had some of the data and spoke. "That sounds better, the Silver Jedi don't have a dedicated fleet so most likely these would be used as personal fighters for going around which will limit their visibility and Rendili having them for their defense fleet would be fine. Your hard work and design, our reactor and lots of celebration as we test it out. With this data we'll be able to alter some of our plans going forward with what the reactor will be used on larger scale."

[member="Ayumi Pallopides"]

Personal fighters? Ah, yes now Cam remembered. The Silver Jedi Order also had non-force using rangers as part of their organization as well, and those were greater in number than the actual Jedi of the Silver Order. If it was just limited to the personal fighters of the Silver Jedi and not their supporting soldiers there would be a lot less about. Honestly though Camellia was wondering if perhaps she ought to ask permission for something else, but then she decided against it. This was fine. In all honesty whenever she worked with the Silver Jedi things seemed to work out rather well. She enjoyed their organization's. . . . .organization a lot more than the Republic's sometimes. A lot of bureaucracy and too much dependence on people who had just been around longer that just ended up either slowing things down or getting in the way just because they had status. She wondered how things would be if Rendili were within the Silver Jedi's territory. "Alright then that sounds fine by me too. I appreciate a lot of the Silver Jedi's cooperation and business. You all do good work and in the end I feel sadder and sadder there is such a rift between you all and the Republic. Best we just focus on this project though and leave the politics to the people who seem to be hotheads. We need to test out your reactor at its limits with a fighter going at optimal levels. Then we can take this on to testing the larger variant on a frigate or capital ship. Let's start heading to the hanger, they should be bringing up the prototype for the Honor Class now."

Ayumi raised an eyebrow as the name for the ship class and nodded to that while she followed. "Well based on the two interactions I have read and seen between Republic diplomats and Silver Jedi representatives it was... Bad. The senators who came to the silver jedi both times used the same line and threat. That they should fight because it is the Republic and it is an honor to be asked to fight for them. Then the part where they minimized and ignored the Silver jedi's aid on Coruscant, Carida, Empress Teta and even some members being at Alderaan. Saying they hadn't been serving the greater good and spitting in their faces. The grandmaster and many of the Silver jedi are tired of being treated like dirt when dignity and respect should not be a commodity." Ayumi had rambled while she was walking and held her hands behind her back while breathing and looking at the grand scheme thinking about the prototype and further testing.

This time Camellia did sigh as she listened. since she did know how bad the relations between the two governments really was that horrible. And it did seem to mostly be as a result of the Republic side of things. At the same time though Rendili Stardrive's CEO did feel rather worried for the Silver Jedi Order. She hadn't heard much news out of their region, but they had come to her for ships once, it made her wonder if they had sufficient defenses. The war with the Sith was going poorly, if they ever broke through the Republic the rest of the galaxy would be at risk and she wasn't sure if they were ready. Hopefully though the reactor was the sign that they would be, and hopefully developing these fighters with them would help as well. "Well at the very least my company will extend open arms to aid the Silver Jedi if they ever wish to place orders. We would do our best to accommodate you all."

Trying to smile as best she could, Camellia wondered what she might do to further better her company and perhaps even relations with the Silver Jedi. Well first things first was probably handling their business now. So as they entered the hanger Cam smiled sincerely seeing the prototype fighter siting in the middle of the bay, waiting to attached with a new reactor and raring to go. "The Honor Class is its working, albeit not final, title. Four Heavy Laser Cannons, One Proton Torpedo Launcher with an expanded bay, equal in speed to an interceptor, and sporting a special shield unit you might find interesting, though it has brought problems considering its expense and taxing natures in addition to the other components. Hopefully with the work we put into this reactor and the fighter it will be a grand thing indeed."

Ayumi looked at her and then was nodding in agreement at the fighter itself.. it sounded armed to the teeth and something that would be very nice to have flying around. Ayumi's grin remained on her face while she put her hands together and was steepling the fingers now... A look of enjoyment coming at the thought of what a ship like that could do in the long run and she was nodding her head. "That does sound grand, I hope it inst something wasted." That didn't sound how she meant... she knew there were ships made for high levels of performance but they got pilots that were not able to measure up or were used by the rich who never took them out of first gear. Her thoughts that they might have the machine but not the skilled ones to really test it was there. Not a major fear but she didn't want there to be dangerous surprises if someone pushed it after testing and bad things happened. "We need one of your pilots who can make destroyers do flips."

[member="Ayumi Pallopides"]

Camellia hoped much the same as the other woman hoped nothing was wasted. Rendili Stardrive's CEO and the board itself was worried about that happening. The Honor class, or maybe Honorable would sound better, was simply rife with concerns in the cost of operation and repair, but its firepower and defenses and speed were worth it, not to mention in the right hands it would be a devastating machine looking to be an iconic new design. First they ought to see if they could take care of that reactor drain problem though. "Well you'll have to talk to one of the helm officers to see if they have any experience with that level of skill, maybe when we go out to test the reactor on the larger ships you can pick out someone whose record makes them look that good. Speaking of pilots though, shall we call someone down while they hook up the reactor to the prototype or will you take this one out yourself again too?"

"No I think I'll let the professionals test it this time." She had a grin on her face and picking out a test pilot wouldn't be to bad now that the hard part was over they had done it all on a ship that wouldn't really hold the strain... and succeeded. Now they were using a ship designed for it and she was glad to ask another to take the helm of it all. Ayumi leaned a little to relax and propped herself up. "I think what we really need is some foods and should eat while they install the reactor.

[member="Ayumi Pallopides"]

That seemed reasonable, although Camellia didn't enjoy taking breaks in the middle of projects such as this, especially when she wanted to keep a close eye on its progress and make sure things stayed on task. At the same time though she knew there would be some time as the reactor was installed into the prototype. Which sadly could take a while because a proof of concept starfighter likely wasn't easily taken apart and put back together with a new part. She hoped they used universal couplings in there. Regardless, Cam opened up her own datapad and began looking at Rendili Defense Fleet rosters for anyone in the squadron listings who she should provide to Ayumi for selection. "We shouldn't go too far. The station's cafeteria for the workers and those with ships docked for extended periods should do for now, though I promise a more enjoyable feast later on. I'll transfer a compilation of pilot rosters to you now. Pick out anyone you think will fly this thing crazily enough to push its limits. I'll pick three others to go against them in a dogfight."

Ayumi gave a nod, she wasn't above eating in a cafeteria and agreed on not going far but she also knew that it wasn't good to work until you got hungry. You started making mistakes like that, needed to keep your energy up even if it was for being nervous and hoping everything worked. "That is fine, can't crunch numbers on an empty stomach." She was also interested in seeing who was picked and what they had done, that was another thing she missed about being in the senate... working with and finding talent. She had done it with the teams sent to secure the trritories when the sith fell before many of these people showed up to claim their positions and either force others out or claim no one except them was special. She had tried but was too respectable to debase herself with their attitudes. "Come while they work we'll eat and pick the candidate."

[member="Ayumi Pallopides"]

"I don't know, for me a meal tastes better when I know everything is done and accounted for and I don't have to worry about it, leaving me free to eat and feel satisfied." One might call that work ethic impatience, but Camellia called it hard-working and dedicated. At least if just to stop people from calling it impatience. She liked her work to be done before she got on to doing anything for herself. It felt like she wasn't doing everything she could and couldn't be satisfied. Nonetheless she could agree to a break all the same, especially when they weren't doing much at the moment and her associate was asking for one. So Rendili Stardrive's CEO gladly led Ayumi to the cafeteria, transfering the pilot roster to the other woman along the way, where upon she ordered herself a simple soup with water before sitting down. "I'm planning to save room for a celebratory feast later tonight once the work on the reactor and fighter are done. We have things setup for the bigger reactor too whenever you wish to work on that mess as well."

Ayumi could agree with that, she could see the value in saving room for celebration and planned to do just that while she got a small but filling enough amount of food. Keep energy up, keep yourself from feeling like you are worse off then you are. She had a few thoughts while sitting there and eating as she listened. "Once we don't how this fighter sized reactor will function it will inform my report and decisions. We were thinking a carrier ship with the reactor able to power additional system but that might be changed. I am thinking more of a station that can work in silver jedi space. Dedicate the power systems and output to systems over weapons or into the shields instead."

[member="Ayumi Pallopides"]

A carrier? That could work, at least that was what Camellia was thinking as she ate more of her soup before Ayumi brought up powering a station. That posed a lot more problems. Was the idea going to be to create a small reactor to fill the role of a larger one for a big station? Or was the concept going to work around the premise that the reactor would supply more power to the station than normal and thus allow it to have more powerful systems and defenses? Either would be difficult, and testing would be even more problematic. After all, it wasn't like they could just test it on an station already in orbit, not to mention anyone with a large station's power out would have a lot of things falling apart quickly. "I don't think we have any ship big enough to handle this sort of problem . . . . we haven't built any command class cruisers yet in recent years. We wouldn't be able to test its maximum potential if the larger version you've designed is meant for a large station. . . .we could overload as big a ship as we can put together for you though and see how it goes, though it would be an expensive test and use of resources, but that falls down to whether you think its safe enough to run your prototype on your station and see how it handles from there?"

"It is all in the concept stages still, the Silver Jedi is changing going from wanting to safeguard to wanting to protect and just avoid people. There is a great deal of dangerous history we have discovered in our space as small as it is and need to make sure it is safe there. A ship or a station would serve for mapping and keeping track of the system itself. Their lack of wanting to go out and attack other governments in the galaxy keeps the leaders under the radar for now some someone will have an idea to try and pick a fight. That is what we want to work on to deter either by having a ship that can prove superior or a station that can coordinate fleets across the space."

[member="Ayumi Pallopides"]

Well that was definitely something, but personally in Camellia's mind she would rather have a ship that could do both, and she honestly could think of a ship in particular Rendili used to produce that could fill both those roles for the Silver Jedi. However, she wasn't really sure how much work the Silver Jedi had put towards their station/ship altogether. If it was still in the planning stage, maybe she could have the opportunity to work with them to recreate the design once more if they felt it fit their needs. "I'm not quite sure what the difference is then between safeguarding versus just protecting, but I do understand what you mean about needing a bigger and better tool. If you want a superior ship that can do tactical command of a system maybe I can help again if possible. Rendili used to have a design called the Inexpugnable that prided itself on the most sophisticated Holo-Command Bridge and Super Computer of its time. We could try and recreate one if the Silver Jedi Needs. . . . have you picked a pilot yet for the test craft by the way?"

Ayumi liked that idea and looking over the pilots she spoke. "This one, top marks in her classes and good commendations. Plus she seems loyal that is always a plus." Ayumi tagged it and sent it while thinking about the ship camellia was talking about, her mind thinking back and she somewhat knew what she was talking about. It was a large ship, not something many saw and good for coordinating which was a plus. She could see the value in such a design and would save on their needs of trying to build from the ground up. THey could already have the important things just alter it enough so the common weaknesses are shored up and strengthened or protected. "I like this idea for the ship."

@[member="Ayumi Pallopides"]

Ayumi's words made Camellia far more excitedly than she likely realized. If there was anything that Rendili Stardrive's CEO desired, it was to perhaps fill out a whole fleet with iconic warships of Rendili design. Building the massive and mighty Inexpugnable in a modern form. . . .it gave her chills. Of course she didn't want Ayumi to know that. Not that she thought the other woman might take advantage of her after their previous business and other meetings, but at the same time she didn't want to make it seem like she would be desperate for such an opportunity. So as it was she just nodded in response to Ayumi's decision on the test pilot for the new starfighter and presented the several she had already chosen from the roster of pilots who had flown in a recent sortie against mercenaries attacking an ore transport. "Then we'll go with her. I'm sending the files for the pilots to the chief down in the hanger to bring them in. All we need to do is finish eating and head down there, it shouldn't take too long for them to arrive. . . . I am curious though. Who would need to be spoken to about Rendili building an Inexpugnable for the Silver Jedi. it would take a lot of work to do, to make it a worthwhile ship. There is some technology we wish to put into it to keep its systems comparable with the modern era too."
