PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS
Unlike her more cynical revolutionary comrades, Suhara Villow retains hope that the uprising that she has sparked will succeed and that democracy will return to the hands of the people. Where rebellions against the Poutine Regime in the past were mostly internal party revolts seeking to replace one master with another she is determined for hers to be different and instead of merely seeking to install a vanguard party, to bring about a democratic system that brings equality, progress, and social change. How exactly such a complicated system would be established in a world that hasn't seen democracy in several generations remains but Villow is confident that such a system can be implemented. Whatever the case is, she knows one thing: every day that the Poutine Regime continues its rule of terror is an unacceptable day.
She hopes to erode the power of the super-corporations that dominate much of the everyday life of the average Chantemerian to eventually create a stateless classless society, though she is aware that such a nonsense utopia will likely never be possible. But she believes that it is a goal that everyone should strive to be as close to attaining as possible even if impossible in the end. For now, she is content with bringing back freedom to her people and stopping the atrocities of the Poutine Regime.
HISTORY
Suhara Villow was born in 874 on the world of Chantemer. From birth, she was already guaranteed a position in the ruling class of the Poutine Regime due to her parents being senior vanguard party members. She was seen as a fairly unremarkable child who paid the proper reverence to the Supreme Leader and could recite the national anthem from the heart. The only thing that stood out about her was that instead of wanting to become a party lackey who would be guaranteed a prosperous life, she wished to become a political officer in the Cebeuq Navy. In the naval academy, she proved herself to be a capable leader not just winning battles but commanding her fellow students. A large clique of naval students began to form around her that attracted the interest of Internal Security however they dismissed the case as inconsequential, just another club of blue-bloods forming.
If those investigating internal security agents had a time machine, they no doubt would have gone back and publicly executed the entire class of 899. Villow pulled enough strings to get her entire clique to crew the Frigate Soulèvement where she became the ship's leading political officer. However instead of guarding the vessel against mutiny, she led one that wrangled control from the captain and his loyalist staff.
Suhara's position of privilege had afforded her unrestricted access to a level of information and political education where she learned the true extent of the Poutine Regime's oppression. She learned of the crushing of workers unions, genocides on the colonial moons, and just the true cruelty of the gulags that housed the party's enemies; more akin to death camps than prisons. Most party members would have shrugged and gone on with their lives, comfortable in blocking out the cries of the oppressed so long as they got their star yacht.
But Villow could not stand idly by.
Leading her Frigate into planetary orbit she used her clearance to breach the Holonet firewall that had been placed around Chantemer and broadcasted a call to arms in rebellion against the tyrannical regime while revealing databanks full of evidence about the atrocities of the regime. She described her dream of a truly democratic and equal Chantemer, something that not even her parents could remember. Despite having expected failure and execution, she was shocked to see that the starships sent to shoot the Soulèvement down instead joined over her in relaying the broadcast.
There had been uprisings and acts of subversion against the Vanguard Party for a hundred years but they had all been disparate and scattered. However, the display of a young girl's defiance and the sight of parts of the Void Fleet openly defecting had created a new united front that had never been seen before. Mass strikes and revolts erupted all across the planet. While most were quickly and brutally put down by Poutine's security forces, many rebels had fled into the countryside or melded into a radicalized populace now willing to hide them.
Additionally he had failed to stop Suhara from escaping the system with her new fleet. Now, hidden in deep space she slowly gathers power and support to return to her homeworld and free it from its oppressors.
