A SUNDERING DAWN STORY

cismetaldiv5.png

As the hyperlanes falter and the stars grow silent, the Confederacy of Independent Systems finds itself straining under the weight of both external uncertainty and internal unrest. Long dependent on efficient trade, decentralized logistics, and corporate stability, the CIS now faces an unprecedented crisis as smaller-yet-stable hyperlane collapses isolate entire member worlds. Whispers of "a Drift" and reports of ghostly attackers spread like a contagion across the Galaxy and even in Confederate space.

In Parliament, fear clashes with ambition. Some call for restraint and consolidation, while others see the chaos as an opportunity to expand Confederate influence over systems growing desperate for protection. Meanwhile, far from the chamber floors, Confederate patrols and paramilitary contractors are being dispatched to investigate the growing number of disappearances, strange phenomena, and the implications of an ancient power stirring once more.

Is this the unraveling of the very foundations upon which the Confederacy was built - or the dawn of a new Confederate order born from the void...?

Type: Military/Exploration/Paranormal
Location: Kamino & Surrounding Hyperlanes

Kamino, long a loyal yet enigmatic member of the Confederacy, has sent an urgent appeal through its representative, Kama Nu Kama Nu , from the now-far flung Rishi Maze. Trade vessels approaching and exiting the stormy world have vanished without a trace, and distress beacons only return static and shrieking distortions.

The Confederate Armed Forces, alongside contracted paramilitary support and investigative droid units, are dispatched to secure the system, investigate the disappearances, and establish a quarantine perimeter. While pirates or rival factions like the Sith are initially the suspected culprits, the true cause is far more chilling...

Upon arrival, the task force encounters inexplicable anomalies—flickering lights in the clouds, gravity shifts, and then an attack from Starweirds, spectral horrors previously dismissed as spacer legends. The encounter will leave survivors shaken and with more questions than answers. Are these entities in their individuality connected to the Galactic instability? Or is something even older and stranger awakening within the Galaxy, causing all the turmoil?

Goal: Investigate the mysterious disappearances around Kamino. Survive a Starweird encounter. Collect data or artifacts that hint at a deeper cause behind the disturbances.

Type: Political/Economic Strategy
Location: Confederate Parliament, Rothana

As trade routes fracture and systems face isolation, the economic engine that powers the Confederacy of Independent Systems begins to sputter. Supply chains are strained, commerce stalls, and vital resource shipments from outlying worlds like Rishi, Kamino, and Christophis are delayed—or vanish entirely. The Confederacy, long reliant on its decentralized yet efficient network of corporate and planetary logistics, must now confront the reality that its greatest strength is also its greatest vulnerability.

The Confederate Parliament convenes for a Crisis Deliberation Session, presided over by Vice-President Xazzex Xivar Xazzex Xivar , to address the mounting economic fallout. Corporate ambassadors, trade ministers, planetary representatives, and economic advisors present dire projections of prolonged disruption, warning that if action is not taken, famine, recession, and political fragmentation could follow.

Among the proposed solutions: emergency economic aid packages for high-risk systems, the redirection of protected hyperlanes through Confederate space, the creation of local trade cluster agreements to reduce dependency on long-haul hyperspace routes, and new contracts with independent navigators and prospectors to chart safer, alternative paths.

Within these debates, a promising proposal emerges - establishing a regional trade and logistics hub near more stable lanes to anchor the Southern Systems economy. One contender raised by multiple parties is Serenno, due to its cultural influence, economic potential, and centrality near uncollapsed hyperlanes. Though not the focus, the mention of Serenno sparks political curiosity and hints at future expansion plans.

Goal: Deliberate and pass legislation to stabilize Confederate trade during the crisis. Debate short- and long-term economic strategies. Investigate emerging hubs like Serenno as part of broader stabilization efforts, while navigating the political risks of centralization and overreach.

"...the very foundation of this Confederacy -- the prosperity and free trade among all member worlds -- is in danger of being torn apart. You have all heard the projections that without swift, decisive action by this body today we risk not merely economic ruin, but famine and civil uprisings. Mapping new trade routes and fortifying our supply lines is paramount to ensuring our survival. What this Confederacy needs now is that all representatives put forward their proposals here, now, toward that end."

Xazzex had gotten the session underway as quickly as possible and had the statisticians and analysts present their material. Any effort to proposal or interject unrelated legislation before the reason for the emergency assembly were instantly rejected. This was not a session where she would abide distraction or political grandstanding. After all, this matter affected not only members of the Confederacy but the entire galaxy. Every market on every planet was at risk, including Falleen -- and all the trade Falleen's illicit gains depended upon.

The Speaker turned to regard certain parties as one such idea was proposed. If local hyperspace corridors, perhaps other regions of space were still relatively intact. Somehow, they'd even managed to identify an actual candidate for this proposal: Serenno. How astute of them to be so prepared. Perhaps others might even bolster the suggestion by throwing out reasons why the Confederacy should humor such an idea. "Is there support to establish a new distribution hub on or near Serenno?" she put to the chamber.

They were free to propose alternatives, of course, but she would expect the same sort of explanation how it was any better than Serenno, or dealing with the catastrophe surrounding Rothana.

Standing up from her seat Phee Zti took hold of the podium from there. Scanning around the assembly here she had to fight the urge to shake her head. Just as their Confederacy was just getting on its own two feet when this galactic catastrophe erupted. Tao had managed to stay within its planetary system but the disruption of the hyperspace lanes had hurt the economy at home.

I advocated for further integration into galactic trade. Now the isolationists are screaming for my head because of it.

Thinking all that the voice of Tao spoke.

”I oppose the choice of Serenno. While it is true that it is a strategic point for trade, it doesn't change the fact that the world is beyond our sphere of influence and the lanes are in chaos. Even if the latter weren't so Serenno is closer to the Alliance, Mandalorians and even the Sith. I agree we need a solution to this crisis but one that isn’t on the far end of the galaxy. My proposal is that we strengthen further economic ties with the Naboo Royal Republic."

A Galaxy in crisis. What was new? Tambor thought. Though, in this instance, it did indeed neccessarily affect his profit stream. Though, to the Trade Federation, less than others perhaps. Whilst the commerce conglomerate's income greatly banked on the Galaxy's hyperlanes, the standard operating procedures documenting every planetary route along the Federation's customer base had built in redundancies...and redundancies to those redundancies. Tambor had faced too many galactic calamities to rely solely on what were the carved routes among the stars, having enlisted smugglers, pirates, navigators and explorers to chart other effective routes should main hyperlanes come under the effect of Galactic conflict or peril. As seen by the Third Imperial Civil War, the Second Hyperspace War, the Bryn'adul crisis and- so on. Wars amongst the stars, if you will.

Though, with the Hyperlanes under wavy uncertainty, it became more and more clear to the Skakoan that the Federation need lay proper roots in order to build a greater powerbase. Many worlds had seen its presence already though, had come under the rule of greater sovereign governments. Skako, Cato Neimodia and Muunilinst all prized worlds under the rule of foreign governments. With Entralla and Ord Mantell well within the sights of others. It became clear to Tambor...that he may very well have to step into the ring and pick a side once more.

In spite of their stunted presence on the Galactic stage, it was hardly the first time he'd shoved his chips in with an up-and-coming power. The Confederacy's policies certainly housed a good deal of his interest. He attended this particular parlaiment meeting in order to see the functions of Confederate legislature in action and to see their immediate response to this growing crisis. Along with him, his liason in the Galactic Alliance. The Neimoidian, Lodd Grimmin.

The pair sat in special guest's seating, partions to left and right. The two arrived seperately from Coruscant and Muunilinst respectively.

<"AWWWEEEEER- Grimmin. It is long due we're able to meet face-to-face once more. I assume the journey from the Core was a rather routine one?"> He asked, his finger tips pressed against one another over his abdomen as hovered to his seating. He peered toward the gathering legislators, arching a brow beneath the thick lenses of his goggles before he looked to the fellow alien to his left.

<"Any word from the Alliance Senate? They seem to be quiet...though that is not as if the Alliance government is not still acting militarily in other spheres. It seems in recent days the fiery debates and rhetoric I was rather accomodated to in the Senate has drifted into trudging compliance with the current regime. Though- you are the man with boots on the ground himself.">

A new era for the Trade Federation as the Trade Monarch had managed to oust Rulonom Laborr Rulonom Laborr from the position of Viceroy and hand control over to former Director Gat Tambor Gat Tambor . Such a power move was atypical of the Neimoidian species but it was a strategic advantage to distance himself from corporate interests to enhance the voting power of the Neimoidian delegation.

Meanwhile, the focus of today's galactic politics lies within the Confederacy of Independent Systems, particularly regarding the Galactic Sundering, which has caused significant disruptions to hyperspace lanes and traditional navigational systems, leading to a gradual decline in trade and commerce as new routes are established and planetary boundaries are adjusted.

Lodd attentively listened as Vice-Head Xazzex Xivar Xazzex Xivar commenced her opening remarks to begin the proceedings, followed by Phee Zti Phee Zti 's objections to the proposal of establishing a regional trading center on Serenno, the residence of House Dooku of the former New Imperial Order.

However, he was largely distracted, concentrating solely on the Viceroy, whose face he was encountering for the first time today.

"Very much routine, except for the lingering Imperial Warlords in the core who are creating minor disturbances for hyperspace travel." Grimmin explained while positioned in the chair adjacent to the Skakoan, his gaze surveying each delegation present and even the members of the Corporate Council whose vested interest was perhaps a conflict of interest.

"The Alliance Senate has fallen into a quiet compliance as you said with the New Organa Regime now that the ghastly Chancellor Auteme is no longer in office to sour the minds and profit margins of the corporations. Though they have saw fit to grant two corporations complete control over there Defense Industry in Si Tech, and Aether Systems. Hardly the top of the line military manufacturers but a potent annoyance that prevents us from penetrating that far into that market." Grimmin would offer a candid evaluation of the circumstances, his fingers idly gliding over the armrest of the chair at the mere reference to the former Chancellor who obstructed the corporation's legislation for an extended period.
