OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
- Intent: The intent of the Suns of Darkness is to provide a pirate fleet within Black Sun for pirate archetypes
- Image Credit: Black Sun image combined with Requitix Image modified by Mithias
- Links: Black Sun, Interstellar Shipping Technologies, Rohak Vizsla, The Ego, Bruticus, Privateer-class Frigate
- Fleet Name: Suns of Darkness
- Classification: Pirate Fleet
- Affiliation: Black Sun
- Fleet Symbol: Displayed above
- Description: The Suns of Darkness is a band of pirates contracted by Black Sun. The Suns of Darkness Fleet is comprised of a hodgepodge frigates and corvettes that appear to be centuries or millennia old in design. Although it is an eclectic mix of ships, the Captains of these ships train and drill together often to perfect their craft of pirating.
- Headquarters: The pirates of the Suns of Darkness work out of the mobile space station, The Ego
- Ports of Call: The Suns of Darkness operate out of The Ego as it moves across the galaxy, usually only a small jump from that base. However, due to the design of the ships, the vessels are not immediately identified as pirate vessels, so have Port of Calls throughout the galaxy--at least until their notoriety outweighs their anonymity.
- Goals: The Suns of Darkness are contracted by Black Sun to raid specific targets and targets of opportunity. In return for providing support, maintenance, crew members, and backing, Black Sun takes a percentage of the spoils that the Suns of Darkness accumulate.
- Reputation: Due to the relative newness of the fleet, the Suns of Darkness have only a small reputation. While they are associated with the well-known Black Sun, they only fly their banner for a reason. As such, survivors of a Suns of Darkness pirate raid may be at a loss as to how to describe who they were attacked by.
- Fleet Size: Small
- Lead Ship: The Red Hand
- Composition: The Suns of Darkness is composed primarily of Frigates, Corvettes, Light Freighters, Fighters, and other specialized boarding/hauling ships (Sample Ships: Privateer-class Frigate, IST-781 Grievous)
Rohak Vizsla - Suns of Darkness Leader, Captain of The Red Hand and its crew
Bruticus - Captain of The Grievous and its crew

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
As a shipping mogul, one of Malicar’s biggest concerns and hits to the “bottom line” of his company were raids on his shipping convoys. Even though Interstellar Shipping convoys were escorted by combat starships, the more organized and cunning pirates and privateers were successful in their attacks. In time, Malicar began to study pirate tactics and did little to change his shipping modus operandi in order to discern patterns, trends and “tells” of how, where, and why they were being raided. As the years passed, he began to identify the differing pirate groups, as well as their competencies. He accepted the profit loss from the attacks in order to collect large databanks of information on pirating activity affecting Interstellar Shipping. Malicar not only studied what was happening to his convoys, but other companies that suffered attacks as well. He obtained information on those attacks as well to understand strategies used against their shipping fleets.
Five years later, Malicar felt he had a good picture of who, what, when, and where of the pirates that were raiding Interstellar Shipping convoys. Anticipating a series of attacks, the shipping tycoon laid a series of traps for the pirates that had been harassing his shipping fleet. The design of the traps was fairly simple: destroy the pirates that he deemed as ignorant and incompetent; capture the pirate captains he had determined were cunning, smart and adaptive. Fighters ang gunships poured out of the shipping containers when they were next attacked. A mercenary fleet hyperspaced in as planned and prevented retreat. Within a few months, the pirate raids had all but disappeared. The cunning pirate Captains that he captured were made offers: work for Black Sun as a pirate band or be set free. The offer for freedom was saddled with a threat that if any more attacks were made on Interstellar Shipping, they would suffer a slow death…
Most of the shipping captains jumped at the offer to work for Black Sun. The ship captains formed their own pirate band called the Suns of Darkness. Rohan Vizsla rose as the undisputed leader of their band and was given a loose reign in their activities by the Wardens of Black Sun.
