Taking steps towards a major faction

Miss Blonde

Trying to be straight in a crooked Galaxy
It's been brought to my attention that some people might want to be a major faction. Personally I'm not for this and I want to be a minor faction. So this is up to you since this is your faction as well. And since the damn poll button is broken we'll do it the old fashion way. Vote whether or not we should take steps towards being a major.

Nein. Going major is a bad setup for the freedom that crime has. In my opinion, underworlds are supposed to be an underlay to society, not a physical faction presence for others to go on a "map rage" at. The faction can be as laid back as it wants without having to deal with inactivity guidelines or Dominions/Invasions *shivers*. However, if enough people join up and want to turn this Major, then I say we do it through Rebellions. Much more land to grab up that way and it makes moar sense.

I feel that if we do that this it would make use keep to one area as [member="Jarven Zexxel"] the underworld is the under world is more then just one or two planet but could be any planet at any times. If anything I think we should reach out to those other major see if we could do a dom. if they wouldn't mind some different kind of dom as say setting up shop here and there working different criminal activities.

So with that said I have to say

No on the grounds that it would keep us from writing true to our nature as criminals.

I'm a bit biased because I suggested it to Blonde, but I think it'd be fun. There is plenty of room to expand no matter where you start. It also provides ways to expand like owning flagships (an advantage I'd take advantage of, part of the reason I wanted this to be major), dominions, invasions, rebellions, and owning planets. True there is the idea that crime is supposed to be low key, but we could RP it like we have a strong influence over the planet, not just a militaristic installment.

Just my thoughts.

I'm of the opinion that criminal factions aren't meant to be major in the respect of being on the map and owning territory in that manner. My reasoning is that criminals are meant to be underground even when they are well-known, not entirely visible to the whole of the galaxy and always at least somehow cloaked in shadow. Besides, nobody likes dealing with the stress that invasions can provide, and while dominions are fun I don't personally see the trade-off. Beyond that, going major has been the death another criminal faction, the Red Ravens. Perhaps that wasn't the only reason they fell, but it certainly didn't help the matter. I'm all for staying minor, just so we don't lose this laid back and carefree environment we have going for us.

Stay minor Patricia. I mean [member="Miss Blonde"]

There are enough former Ravens here that seem to share the same thoughts. We don't need a fleet, we don't need or want a map presence, we just don't care for the hassle of being major.

Stay small, it gives us freedom. If we want something we can steal it. If we don't like someone we can just walk in their yard and kick over lawn gnomes till they come outside and fight us.
