SPECIAL FEATURES
Augment’s the wielder's force abilities.
Crystals set into the staff allow energy to be funnelled into the various elements represented.
The Nihil smokestone set into the staff allows telepathic communications and melding
The Dantari Crystal acts as a focus, allowing the wielder to control the powers at their disposal while allowing them to replenish some of the power they use.
By the Elements combined: Tempestas is built to support and empower Lunara’s combat style, allowing her to more easily manipulate the elements of Ice, Fire and Lightning.
Can you hear me: The Nihil Smokestone acts as both a telepathic transmitter and receiver, allowing Lunara to overcome the difficulties with telepathic communications from her Hellyni ancestry
It’s all coming back to me now: The Dantarii Crystal allows some part of the force expended while using Tempestas to be returned to its user.
Weaknesses:
Big stick: The shaft of the staff is nothing more than a long piece of wood, no enhancements or no metals make it very vulnerable to being destroyed or damaged by attack.
Limited specializations: While the Wild Force Shard is able to boost all force abilities, the specialised crystals built into the staff only provide a benefit when manipulating the elements.
Did I break that: The layout of the crystals is very precise patterns to optimise the flow of hte force. This, however, leaves them very exposed to attack. If the crystals are damaged or destroyed while the staff is in use the backlash can be significant, potentially destroying the staff or stunning, knocking unconscious or even causing damage to the user.
DESCRIPTION
There is something about a mage’s staff, it’s both the symbol of their position and a most powerful tool in the right hands. For each recognised sorcerer of the Azure Imperium, the creation of their staff was a rite of passage. Each aspect of the creation required focus and attunement, building a staff out of Greel wood. The power of the weapon is drawn from the various crystals which were built into the staff.
The primary crystal used at the head of the staff was a large Wild Force Shard, the force imbued crystal able to enhance the force powers of the user. The Wild Force Shard acts as the centre of the staff, acting as a power source and in effect a transformer. The shard would allow the staff’s wielder to use a small amount of their power to create a larger effect.
While the Wild Force Shard was the primary crystal used in the construction of the staff, it was not the only one used. Alone the Crystal could enhance Lunara’s use of the force, but only in a raw power boost, in constructing the staff she wanted something more. Smaller crystals were set around the main Wild Force Shard, the imbued lava, permafrost and kaiburr crystals allowed for a better, more complete control over the basic elements which were so ingrained into Lunara’s combat style and training. By focusing her power, enhanced by the Wild Force Shard, though these other crystals the staff allowed it’s wielder to utilise the elements more capably, both in terms of the size and complexity of the powers in use.
Aside from the crystals maned above, Tempestas has another trick up its sleeve, namely the Nihil Smokestone which was set into the butt of the staff. The smokestone has the unique characteristic of acting as both a telepathic transmitter and receiver. The presence of this stone allows Lunara to overcome her natural resistance to telepathy while holding the staff, which opens a new world of possible uses of the force as a support tool for the young sorcerer.
