Intent: A personal weapon of Krest and a symbol of his loyalty to the Templar Order of old.

Development Thread: Rusty

Manufacturer: Krest

Model: N/A

Affiliation: Krest

Modularity: No

Production: Production: Unique

Material: Manipulated Desh-Terenthium (Sword and Sheath), Lightsaber Components (Hilt), Correllian Hardwood (Sheath)

Classification: Yatagan

Size: One-Handed

Length:
Whole: 1 m.
Blade: .85 m.
Hilt: .15 m.

Weight: 2.3 kg.

Special Features:

  • The sword gives Krest an option between the super sharp lightsaber edge and the dull lightsaber resistant material of the Manipulated Durasteel.
  • Being manipulated by Art of the Small both the metal blade, wooden sheath, and hilt are all similar to a Sith Sword in it's resistances.
  • Due to the lightsaber attachment, the blade cannot absorb Force Lighting like a Sith Sword.
  • Because of the size of the lightsaber built into the hilt, the blade cannot be modified asides from color. Should the lightsaber edge come in contact with Cortosis, the blade will shut off and be unable to turn back on for near ten minutes.
  • The metal blade is dull to keep from affecting the lightsaber edge, as well as Krest's own preference, meaning it is unable to cut anything unless the saber edge is active. However, it's still a metal stick. With enough force behind it, it can shatter bones and even puncture with a hard thrust.
Description:

The Templar's Edge is Krest's way to 'fix' the weaknesses he see's within a lightsaber, as well as his past blade Deus. A lightsaber is weightless, making it fairly easy to cut quickly with, and the plasma blade can cut through almost anything effortlessly. But without weight, there is nothing behind a strike save for the wielders own strength. His own blade Deus had the weight, but unlike a lightsaber it couldn't cut as well. Taking this into account, he chose to simply combine the two. A thin emitter was built into the guard of the normal blade, with the rest of the components built into the hilt itself, much like a normal lightsaber. The energy blade when active goes along what would normally be the edge of the sword itself.

Because of this, however, the blade has no edge without the plasma. To keep the metal from interfering with the lightsaber, it was flattened. Without the energy blade activated, the sword cannot cut. This is something Krest prefers however, meaning he has a non lethal option with the metal part, and a lethal with the energy. With the addition of the small lightsaber however, the blade has several problems. First, unlike it's predecessor, the blade cannot withstand lighting charges. Force Lightning and anything similar will short out the energy blade for around ten minutes. Similarly, Cortosis Ore will shut down the small blade for the same amount of time, due to it's small size. It is neither as fast as cutting as a normal lightsaber, and it can only cut on the active lightsaber side.

At the end of the day, this is a weapon of personal preference for Krest, made to take what he liked most about his lightsaber and his sword.

Hello, @Krest. I'll be your judge today. :)

The basic idea is fine, but there's a few kinks we need to iron out before this can be approved.

Namely, the base materials of the blade that have been manipulated through the art of the small. While I'm happy to allow that, it should be treated like a Sith Sword without the Dark Side affinity; this includes the doubled/tripled weight downside.

The precedent you link does exactly that, so please edit the weight accordingly.

I don't see the point in salvaging the Deus submission, as it is not made of the same material as this blade, and is therefore irrelevant to the creation of this one.

Lastly, I'd like to see a short development thread of 10 - 15 quality posts to showcase the use of Art of thr Small in this manner and either the creation or utilization of the blade itself, as it is an unique combination of lightsaber and weighted blade.

Tag me with questions/edits.

Modified the weight and the materials. Didn't see a point in trying to keep Deus around given it hasn't been used for months.

Will get to the Dev Thread, already got a thread going where I can bring it in.

Both are ongoing. The first has reached near twenty, but still no mention of the blade or its uses.

Will also be updating this after work to include a snippet about channeling the Force through the metal blade and making it indestructible so long as the force is being channeled.

Not immune to lava melting or anything, just can't be shattered, if that's alright.

Can't be shattered sounds a lot better than indestructible, yes. :p
Regardless, alchemized blades are canonically resistant to "normal" wear and tear, so i don't think it even warrants a special mention in that case.

Do you want me to archive the sub until the dev is done, or do you see it being completed in the next couple of days (say, by Friday)?

Meant the anti shattering like in instances where the blade will smack against thick walls or like in our duel between Vrag and Krest forever ago. It's essentially just Force Weapon, but I wanted to note it in the submission just in case. Cover every situation I can think of.

Feel free to archive it though! It may get done by Friday, it may not. No reason for it to take up space.

Going to be changing a thing or two as a heads up. At work now so I can't.
