LFG Testing A Fleeting Option With Dice

I've been interested in figuring out a way to combat the "my ship is precious, no harm shall come to it" branch of fleeting, or at least just add some level of randomness to it. I've played a lot of tabletop roleplay over the years, and I've always liked the combat mechanics involved in them, especially because not every attack is a hit or a critical and tactics really do matter. So I've endeavored to make an attempt at drafting something up of a mechanic for fleeting that I'd like to test out and see if it works.

I'm looking for someone willing to test it out with me, preferably someone from either SO or GA since you're the two major naval powers near TRE (though I'm open to a skirmish with anyone). I'd like to start with something small scale. Only a handful of ships with the max being a Star Destroyer level vessel.

Honestly I love a good fleet battle and this system looks sick, I'd give it a test run, we could do a sort of "war game" simulation or a small skirmish between actual forces of you would like

Either is fine with me. I just want to see if it works and if anything needs tweaked.

Perhaps a simple non-canon battle? 5000m total, any combination to reach it not including fighters, but we only include fighters that are compliments to the vessels (IE, in their hangars)?
 
Sounds good to me if anything we could do a mock war games thing if you wanted to do some faction diplomacy otherwise a non cannon battle works for me
I can't see a reason for our fleets to be over near you so I think just a non-canon thing is good. We can do it simply: I move my ships in this formation and attack that ship, etc. It's more for testing the system so we can see if it's viable in future threads or if it still needs tweaking. I'll ping you on discord.
 
Do you guys have a link to this thread? I'm interested in seeing it play out though i'm not the most competent fleet writer - i enjoy reading it and the dice system seems like a great solution to the "my ship is too precious to die" issue.

Just be aware, no one will be as interested in it as you, and ultimately it will be a lot of work so you need to decide if it's worth it. This is not a dig, it's just a fact learned through 13+ years of experience.

Im sure. I just think it'll be a lot more interesting than everyone writing shooting each other's ships without anything ever happening to them. :p
 
Though if nothing else, I found a cool place for me to set up a holotable of the battle to help visualize.
