The Aal'run Hunt Contest

[member="Seanna Vel"], or you could spend it for yourself and get a something nice that way when we go to the party you can have something to wear.

I mean unless you are content in going with little to nothing. ;)

I know a few people have asked me already so I thought I'd just make it a post here stating more or less the same thing as the three messages. Hope this helps!

In General - They're hard to find because they are either solitary or in small creches, with a field being an ever so rare instance usually in quantities of one or two per world where populations are in the thousands (of which there are only two such worlds, to put it into perspective). but they're almost indefinitely static so long as their is a suitable food supply in the local area.
Red - No real requirements to find these. Have a blast!
Light Pink/Flamingo - Rare and definitely one in a dozen, but not impossible to find. Just very limited.
Blue/Azure - Very rare morphotype which would require substantial effort and droves of flowers to find. More likely in a creche than solitary. One in a hundred+. Dev thread necessary (so about ten extra posts, for example).
Liquorish - Unique!! Just as with the Factory, it is "Unique" in the literal sense, and the only one that exists is a claimed PC. Sorry, guys. In a way, it's sort of a snowflake for plot purposes.

Fun Facts:
  • They don't like dry, arid heat, like any plant. Heat can be an effective and (if in moderation) non-lethal way to subdue them.
  • Paper bags. They're plants. They don't have brains in the traditional sense. Put a cowl over their head and it'll probably take them a good bit of effort just to figure out how to get it off.
  • Baiting is an effective technique! While it may take extra time and effort, potentially days or weeks, they'll go where the food is if the food stops coming to them. Again, they're plants, and don't have the cognition to assume things such as traps.

Notes:
1. In terms of breeding, I hope you live very long lives because that could take literal centuries. They breed once a planetary year, but they rarely get a chance to... at least in nature. Not impossible, just has to be forced, so to speak.
2. Do not expect beheading them to be entirely effective. Again, plants.

[member="Oka Osaa"], Lightsabers can cut through, BUT! You will have to hit them a lot. You would be more effective in snapping their bones or breaking organs to kill them with the force, Capture them you can use something like a Splinter pistol (which I use and is in my gear section of my bio) or one of the Chur rifles (the tranq rifles that everybody can use here.)

[member="Manamune Ticon"], Than you for that Information, I was actually thinking about taking two and maybe breeding them for purposes of using their scales for a project of mine.

[member="Nickolas Imura"] you are a genius. I might hold them back with the force and do that rather than capturing them. Also, do the scales need cut off and smelted for armor?

[member="Mrrew"], Plant's still have a blood stream. How do you think they have nourishment from water? As well if you do the little science project of turning celery a blue color by putting colored water into it, its from it still trying to run water through the system. It's a slower process than blood, so it will take longer, but with a larger body means more nutrients needed, meaning faster process, so the larger the plant, the faster it works. ;) already thought of that one.

[member="Oka Osaa"], Scales are scales. Collect them and cut them, and put them together in the right order, and you can use heat to "bend" and "shape" them to how you want. Smelting is really only used for metals.

[member="Nickolas Imura"] I see. What if you get shot or hit with something wearing the armor? What will it do? Also, could I compress scales together to make it harder?

[member="Oka Osaa"], You can maybe compress them, but it would need to be a dev thread. I would do one just in case.

As for what they can do, They are resistance to lightsabers, but not proof. They can still be cut through after a good 5-7 hits is my guess. As well blaster fire, however fire? it burns through them quickly. It would be like setting a lightsaber on the armor. It will break through it. Metals heat up and then melt, if you are wearing this with armor, I would recommend having it sit on top of a flame resistant body glove just for precaution. That way if you do catch on fire, it won't burn you right away.

Plants don't have bones or organs. :p
Also, they're Force-dead....

Yes, but tranquilizers work on animals, and aren't chemically or cellularly compatible with plants. It'd have no effect (more accurate to say the effect would be vastly different and minor at best).
