The women were still looking at me suspiciously. Of course. The vampire and the flower lady were clearly experiments of some kind. Dunno why the third girl was so pissed, though. She seemed to be totally normal.

"Don't touch anything when we go in there. A lot of those people are dead or in critical medical condition. We can't wake up the latter group cos we don't have the facilities to keep them alive otherwise. My daughter is one of the few who isn't in either of those states."

The three simply looked around the large room, amazed at how many people are dead or sick from being in stasis

Cross' 'daughter', Sammy

I walked over to a smaller cluster of stasis chambers... My family occupied most of them, and my daughter/creation was the only one who was still breathing out of these. I hit the controls to open her chamber, and one of the women behind me gasped as she saw my daughter's face. She had something similar to a butterfly growing in place of her eyes.

She was breathing, but she didn't wake up. She wasn't in immediate danger from being out of stasis. But she was comatose and silent. I turned to the three women again.

"Do you see why I couldn't leave her? Where would she go? Who would accept her appearance? I kept her safe, but it turned out to be the wrong way to go."

Charlotte was the one who gasped, knowing the horrors of failed experimentation for herself... Prea then commented rather bluntly "You did what you felt you had to do."

"I guess....."

I shook myself and closed the chamber again.

"Let's go back to the bridge and see how your droid's doing with the computer."

The group walked to the bridge and the HRD was almost done with bringing the ships online in one go.

I looked over the droid's shoulder. Good, it had reactivated the whole hyperdrive system, as well as reactivating all the slave-rigged ships, too.

"So, we're going to be going soon. Where do you want a lift to?"

"Nal Hutta, we happen to live there for the time being..." Charlotte said, watching the HRD do it's 'magic', activating more and more each minute

"Cool."

I turned to my brother Ogen.

"Ogen, as soon as we have all hyperdrives activated, set course for Hutta. If we're lucky, there might be somebody who can help us with the people still in stasis."

"We'll have full hyperdrive power for all ships in five minutes."

"Good. We should also find a shipyard as soon as possible. Miss Charlotte, d'you know any reliable shipyards near Hutta?"

Charlotte shook her head... clearly not knowing much about the galaxy, let alone the Black Sun Syndicate who ran Hutta

I shrugged, and listened as Ogen said something.

"Cross, we're good to go!"

"Onward to Hutta, then. Finally, we're going somewhere."

Charlotte clapped for the HRD as it even brought up everything and ceased using the computer.
