Description: Black as night canines amber eyes that glow with a sulphuric haze just before it strikes, a massive creature seen only within Canthar and even then only within the compound of a Zambrano Castle. The breed has pointed ears, and a heavy tail it uses to bash into objects or sweep the feet of lesser beings out from under them.

Strengths:
Massive: These dogs are built for combat and are built to take down anyone who dares to come into the rooms of their charges. Everything about them is large, from their teeth to their paws and their form. They’ve been known to knock a full grown Epicanthix down and keep them down just as well.
Smart: While bred for combat, they are more importantly bred to keep watch over the most precious of the Zambrano family. The children and therefore, a certain amount of gentleness and care is needed. The breed is an intelligible one and it is with this that the Zambrano’s Kennel Masters have been able to raise and teach such a prestigious line.

Weaknesses:
Heart Problems: Due to their massive size, the dogs also have a large heart but a heart that often has problems. Heart disease and heart defects while uncommon in the breed still pose a problem for the dogs that are affected. It means they must be relieved of their duties one way or another.
Bone Disease: This is due to both size and inbreeding as the disease was already present in the parent generation and has not been bred out. The bone disease usually occurs mid to late life for the creature. Causing him or her great pains in their ability to walk, while medication can ease the pain. It is only a matter of time, and more often this is the disease that will claim the dog long before their life expectancy is up.
Clumsy: Longlegged, elegant creatures who are also rather clumsy. Most are trained and are well enough but even so, the breed will find that even its most noble canine will find themselves tripping over their own massive paws and legs. It is unavoidable and does happen, sometimes in the most inopportune moments and other times just as they’re out for a walk.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The Annwnsi were first bred by Magnus the Red from the kennels of House Zambrano. He aimed to create the perfect breed for his family. A dog that was not only intimidating but held a sleek coat, pointed ears and the muscled frame to back up their bark. His idea came from the myths, the legends that commoners within his kingdom spoke of. Black dogs announcing death at one’s doorstep, his intent at the time was to create a proper war dog.
He had no idea what they would become. They would become the guardians of the line, rare creatures. Hardly were they seen outside of their master’s fortresses or castles. Their task was simple; guard the children. Protect the young Zambranos as the line often found itself in the crosshairs of the ‘light.’ The breed would gain the ability to work with the shadows a technique taught to them specifically by Kaine Zambrano. The technique itself is to teach the creatures how to keep in the shadows. As they are rarely seen, the Black-Iron tyrant wished to keep it as such while also ensuring they'd be able to protect their charges.
For hidden in the shadows of Panatha they were found by Magnus the Red, and it is within the shadows that people dread. And so it was that the Annwnsi were bred, and the mortal foes of House Zambrano would become the meal in which they were fed.
This was said often of the breed as they became synonymous with the very legends that inspired Magnus to create the breed. Much like the Zambranos the line had been inbred up until the start of Kaine Zambrano’s reign. It is unknown what he’s done with the breed since, but rest assured that anything done from here on can only be an improvement.
