The Birth of Many Ideas

Rhoujen nodded as [member="Marek Starchaser"] spoke, taking in the accounts and sub-tallies. He was taking in the pieces of information, the abstract instructions conveyed through the relaying of ideas. While none of it could be put into practise by him personally, he still gleaned what little knowledge he could as the more experienced man spoke.

"I also heard something before about stealth systems and hyperdrives above Class 1?" he inquired. His tone conveyed it wasn't so much a request, yet, as much as it was curiosity that could lead into a request. He was generally informed and curious to how things work, and already he'd tapped into the local holonet connectivity and was flipping through various articles, from news of Norongachi's speeches to some tidbits about Starchaser and the TechnoUnion. Information was a valuable thing.

Stealth systems, huh? Rhoujen here had his ideas picked out, that was for sure. This brought a smile from Marek, however and he nodded. “You know, we might be able to work something out with that." But they needed to get this ship seriously overhauled. Making a quick message from his datapad, he contacted one of the more private hangars and a magnetic lift came to start to move the ship.

“Let’s get her behind closed doors, and then we can talk about things like that. Did CEC give you any form of wireframe blueprints?” If not the computer systems could scan the ship, that way they could model it and see what was what. “Who’s your Master?” He said, out of the blue as he turned and began leading the way to the design lab.

Atretes' brows lifted at the surprise of being able to outfit the ship more extremely than he originally considered possible. Following [member="Marek Starchaser"]'s question, Rhoujen switched networks on his device, and tapped into the ship itself. He scanned through on-board files and records, and found something that at least looked like a blueprint, but he was no engineer so he couldn't be sure. He flicked a switch on the side of his device and it hijacked the local network to route into Marek's datapad and the file was transfers directly over.

"This it?" he asked as the file pulled itself up, perhaps a little intrusively, onto the screen. He clicked off his pocket secretary and slipped it into his coat as they began to walk, and Atretes watched the VCX move via the magnetic lift, and couldn't help an instinctual fear that something would go wrong and the ship would crash down atop them. That was all merely paranoia, however.

"Salem Norongachi." the young man answered Starchaser simply, nearly expecting for his master's name to draw forth a surprised gasp, look of shock, or some other notable reaction of surprise as had happened before. It was honestly a little annoying, but he supposed such things were difficult to avoid.

The trick with being the Foreman of the Techno Union was that Marek Starchaser had access to the best technology and minds in the galaxy. And if the weren't in his direct employ with the Techno Union, then he had their contact information, and for him, keeping business deals going and not burning bridges was one of the most important things for him. The ship could get outfitted pretty solidly.

When [member="Atretes Rhoujen"] brought up the blueprints, Marek took a hold of the data and looked into his datapad. Giving a nod, he figured this was what he was after. Not that Marek was the engineer, but through a mixture of exposure and the Force, he knew what he was looking at here. "That's perfect." Sending it to the incoming work department for Haor Chall was his first step as the precision engineers would be overseeing this project, and assisting the other companies with the larger construction.

Hearing Norongachi having the younger Knight as his apprentice brought a nod from Marek. That meant there definitely was more than met the eye for him. Maybe hte younger Knight would turn into an airspeeder, or something. Or he just was that good at his job, and had that kind of resume, where even the Commander was willing to assist him. This was going to be a bigger project than he figured.

Leading Rhoujen to the development lab, he made a quick nod to the Xi Char present and introduced Sigma. He wasn't sure quite how to introduce the bugs, still not having figured them out. "Alright, gentlebeings, we're looking to update and improve the VCX we sent you. The project will be to keep 2 months of supplies but improve the sensors and engines, if we can. Knight Rhoujen here is in charge of the project, and has his own ideas." Making a motion to give the other the floor, Marek took a step back, and opened up a terminal to stream the notes that will go up for the vessel.

Atretes nodded in thanks to [member="Marek Starchaser"], and looked to the ...creatures present. He wasn't exactly sure what kind of sentients he was looking at, but he shook off the unease and cleared his throat, before nervously tapping the intercom and leaning forward to speak clearly into it.

"Hello," he began simply, then propped his pocket secretary onto the top of the terminal and tapped a wireless connection. Luckily for him and his reputation, the network here was open and he didn't have to slice anything. He ran a synchronisation operation and the two databases hooked up in a secure niche. He pulled schematics around, tapped into an overhead readouts display, and pulled up his plans like a presentation.

"Here, as you can see, is the current model of the VCX freighter." he began, growing in confidence, "It's simple, up-to-date, and has a few extra bits and bobs. I'm going to rely on your collective expertise, to truly make this a reality, because to be blunt with you I don't know what I'm doing." he said. It drew a murmur from the workers, but he mentally waived it off and went on.

"As you can see, the default for this model is weapons. While I do enjoy weapons, I'm thinking we can condense some of them, or trade powerful ones for weaker ones, in order to bolster shields and or speed." he said, tapping the readouts so a computer simulation gave an example of the trading of weapons for other assets.

"Additionally, and possibly off official record," with that he pushed a little red button and the next set of readouts was on a closed, direct transmission from his A21U and what information it collected to the monitors, and a bunch of redline readouts came up, "I'd like to see what exists within the realm of possibility for stealth systems and a higher-than-Class-1 hyperdrive. I will understand if you can't get it done, but I'm hopeful you won't disappoint." he said with a serious tone and a friendly half-grin, then he rerouted the schematics and brought them to a more public service friendly state, and went on about the details of storage capacity, a small workshop, and a plethora of other modifications he wanted done to make the ship truly his own, down to the mirror-finish glasteel that allowed him to see out but nobody to see in.

There were a dozen or more types of races that bothered Marek, but because of his family, he wasn’t ever bothered by insectoid species. They made sense, and well, on many human worlds, insects were the one thing that survived, why not allow them to be sapient? At least they didn’t contract fleas.

Probably because they were fleas, but whatever.

And he had a bit of joy that was stemming from making people uncomfortable. Sure, Marek Starchaser was an almost kind person, but well, taking people out of their elements? That was why he continually tried to put firearms in the hands of Force wielders. Should the Force ever fail, one needed to defend themselves. Reaching for a glass of water, and looking in his pockets for his cigars, he was listening to [member="Atretes Rhoujen"] and smiling. Kid knew his stuff.

He could be a lot more useful as one of Marek’s own operatives.

The Xi Char were clicking mandibles in the affirmative, or what Marek had since been assuming was affirmative. Bugs. Stealth systems? That was something they could work on. “Allow me to interrupt, are you looking for cloaking, or traditional stealth? Paint, material, and angular frames?”

There were some things he had ideas about but never knew enough about to bring to fruition himself. This was one of them. Rhoujen had never known much about starships aside from flying them, and when it came to stealth system specifics, he had to flip his A21U in his hand and skim over Haor-Chall's databases to find out what [member="Marek Starchaser"] meant. He skimmed the details, and spared a glance to the more experienced of the two there.

"Would it be too difficult to try for both?" he looked up to the schematics and tilted his head thoughtfully.

"While we can't exactly alter the shape of the ship itself too much, we could do a few touch-ups and add some kind of.. coating... or something, to aid in reducing detection. As far as a cloaking system, I imagine that would be much more difficult to do, and I imagine there'd be a large power drain as well, wouldn't there?" he rattled off his thoughts as they came, not quite sure if he made sense or not, but wanting to get his ideas in the air before they left and were unspoken. There were so many things rattling around in Atretes' head that sometimes he didn't know where to stop or go.

Right, Marek had to speak up, he had to at least stop and share some of his knowledge. Or lack of knowledge. Whatever. He looked at [member="Atretes Rhoujen"]. “I’m not quite sure something this size could get a traditional cloaking device, something to make it vanish from sight as well as radar.” He found his cigars and was flipping a lighter open and closed while he spoke. It was more a habit to keep himself busy.

Not unlike a pacifier.

The Starchaser reached out to the other Obsidian Knight in the Force, trying to get a flavor for the man. He knew that Rhoujen had impressed Salem, which for Marek was enough, but still, he wanted to know what this one had inside. “Cloaking would drain power, the rest… you’d still be visible, but, if we painted the hull with the proper material, radar would have a hard time locking you in.” But the Force could find him both ways. “Make the engines burn cooler.” He waggled his hand. “And it could work. Cheaper as well.” But less flashy, and in a galaxy of mountain lifting super powers, he wasn’t sure where the other sat.

Atretes sponged up the information that [member="Marek Starchaser"] had to give, his mind categorising and filing away the important bits to use later. He felt the little probes of the Foreman's mind against his own and gave a mental shrug. Nothing too sensitive lie too near the surface, and the deepest recesses of his mind were... let's say blocked. He considered the options and looked to the VCX being craned into the assembly area and gave a little grin. Force connections worked both ways, and he could feel the hesitation to where the young man stood on being ostentatious. Rhoujen rocked back on his heels and tucked his hands into his coat pockets.

"I prefer the subtler approach to running in with a massive cannon," he said with a little grin, then went on, "The coating sounds perfect for what I need. Sneaky but not unnecessarily so. I need it to go fast anyway, and a stealth system would detract from that," he said, then gave a thought to the engines.

"Making them run cooler sounds excellent, can we do something to lower the brightness of the output as well, or is that more-or-less fixed?" he asked. He liked soft glowing lights for accent details on things, but giant spotlights were a target. Minimising visibility... a thought jumped into his head and leapt straight out of his mouth.

"What can we do as a kind of night-sky-slash-space camouflage? Something to help it visually blend in with the stars?"

There was a lot to consider when building a ship. And as Marek wasn’t quite the engineer, he avoided going into the details he didn’t know. All he did really know was how it worked, and what it took, and the stealth tech was a bit easier, converting engines to Tibanna X or similar fuels. He’d have to make a few calls, he supposed. “If we do run with the coating, we’ll have to find the right fuel, and overhaul the engines as well. They’ll need to run on a different fuel to hide their emissions.”

That bit he knew. And he assumed that Danger could help him with the procurement of that isotope, a contract for it, or the right equivalent. And if she couldn’t, maybe someone from the Hegemony could, or Santhe. Simple.

“Yeah, if we try to run a cloaking power on this thing, we’ll run out of power before you can fire a weapon. Or start the engines.” Was that how it worked? Sure. Granted [member="Atretes Rhoujen"] would know more.

“The Engines would run cool, and that would reduce the emissions trail, and exposure. So...” Right. Simple? Simple.

“We have a paint called [URL="http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Nightshadow%5DNight"]http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Nightshadow]Nightshadow[/url] and we can add this to a sky-scape paint scheme.” He was pretty sure.

Atretes nodded to [member="Marek Starchaser"]'s words, taking in the information. He didn't actually know much of this. He'd relied of what information he could glean from the holonet and the local databases to really just seem like he knew what he was talking about, but such details were superfluous. He'd learn, and he'd be better for it, eventually. As it stood now, he was already taking steps to get there.

"That sounds excellent, Marek," Atretes said with a grin, imagining the ship in a star-spangled manner with all of these subtle modifications working together to make him harder to detect, "is there anything else that needs to be arranged? As it stands now, it's all very exciting." he said. The young Obsidian was getting quite eager to see the finished product. If his mind's image was any accurate portrayal of the actual ship, it would be a marvelous thing. That twinkle in his eye was undeniable, he wanted it done and he wanted to fly it as soon as possible.
