The Birth of Prometheus

The Reaper of Won Shasot
Dax held the sword before himself, between the dummy and himself, with a two handed grip. Standard, basic. "Well for one..." He quickly stepped forward, closing the gap between himself and the dummy, giving a swift blow to the dummies head, a resounding smack, and quickly backing away. "...as you can probably guess, I'm not all that strong. So I rely on my speed and Force powers." He stepped forward again, providing several quick blows to the dummy with practiced ease, to the head the legs and then the torso. "Like you, I like to redirect attacks. But I'm also very aggressive." He stepped forward once more, two quick blows, before leaping backwards, spinning through the air before landing in a low crouch, his arm before him as he unleashed a strong Force Push. The dummy flew back, slamming into the wall with a clang before keeling over and falling on its 'face'.

Joza watched Dax perform an example of sorts, showcasing his speed and agility. A fond smile turned her lips upwards.

“Quick and aggressive. A deadly combination.”

She nodded once, while walking a half-circle around Dax in a clinical fashion. “Acrobatic, too. You seem to have good control over that.”

Threading her fingers together, Joza cracked her knuckles. “Your opponent,” She was referring to Asharad here. “Is much larger and has a higher natural strength. He wears what I’d imagine to be decently heavy armor, phrik or armorweave from what I could guess.” At least a blend of phrik if not pure, given how her saber had difficulty penetrating his armor. A popular choice among many combatants. “He’s fast as well. Uses the Force to enhance his movements, maybe his strength too, I gather. Moves way too fast in armor like that for it to be natural. My advice, for what it’s worth, is to pressure him from a distance first before getting up close and personal. Enter, fire.”

She held open her palm, a slow burning flame springing to life for punctuation. While capable of releasing hellish torrents of fire at this point, Joza was more of a scalpel than a hammer. Conservation of energy and movement was key to her, and while Dax relied on quick aggressive movements, Joza’s skill lay in graceful, sure-footed connecting steps.

To each their own.

“Hold out your hand, try to feel the heat around you and pull it towards you. Concentrate it into your palm. You might not be able to make fire at first, but you should be able to feel an increase in temperature on your hand.”

Dax listened and watched as the rose skinned woman circled him, assessing him. When she mentioned the his previous opponent, the Sith Knight, he nodded in agreement. No man would've been able to move with the speed the Sith did while wearing full armor. And he doubted that he could crush bone with his bare hands either.

As the flame danced in the woman's hand, Dax's eyes fixed themselves to the small burning flame. A beautiful piece of destruction.

He held out his hand as she instructed, and tried to reach out and feel the air around him. Unfortunately, it wasn't very warm. The only sources of heat in the room, their bodies. Still, he grasped at those and attempted to draw it in. Small bits of heat seemed to float above his hand for a moment. And then a single lone spark burst into life before dying out just as quickly as it had been born.

A smile curled the corners of the man's lips as he spoke, "Its a start."

The flicker of the flame died out as her hand dropped, shifting her focus towards Dax. A grin lit up her face as the short lived spark snapped over his hand.

“Good!” There was a clear note of approval in her voice. “That’s a good start. Now that you know how to grab the heat, the rest is just constant practice. The more you do it, the easier you’ll be able to seek out heat sources and the more precise you’ll be when you try and reach out to them.”

She held her hand out again, a serpentine blaze snaking along her hands and fingers before coiling back inwards to create a concentrated inferno in the palm of her hand. “Try and draw the heat from this and into your hands. This’ll help you get used to siphoning it from other sources.” Fire was the easiest, purest source of heat to latch onto.

Dax nodded and once more brought forth his hand, calloused palm upturned. He reached out again, feeling for the heat he knew was there. The flame in Joza's had stood out in the stark cold of the room. It felt as if it were searing his senses compared to the comforting glow that the Zeltron's body gave off. He grasped the heat emanating from the flame, the woman, himself. He pictured a swirling tornado of flame kindling in his hand. Nothing seemed to happen for many strained moments. And then the sparks returned. Then a brief plume of fire which quickly gave way to the cool air. The man released the tension which he had just noticed had built up in his jaw, a pleased look on his face.

"You mentioned you could cause the canisters in weapons to overheat." he said looking up from his hand, now a little warm. How do you do that?

Joza extended her senses outwards, able to feel the tug on the flame at her palm as Dax attempted to siphon the energy from her. It grew smaller for a few moments even as she continued to feed energy into it, giving life to the puff of flame in Dax’s own hand before it disappeared. Joza tilted her head to the side, a grin curling her lips. “I daresay you’re a natural at this.” The tension in his jaw did not go unnoticed, a simple byproduct of intense concentration. The more he practiced, the more natural it would feel until conjuring flame became second nature—as any technique would. Dax was no amateur, and she highly doubted this was his first lesson in anything combat related.

“Yeah,” She nodded in acknowledgement to his question, hand dropping as the flame dispersed. “Most gasses, especially when they’re contained are pretty easy to overheat. It’s a bit more advanced, but once you’re comfortable with gathering heat, you can manipulate it—excite it at a molecular level until it becomes hotter and hotter.” She scratched at the back of her head. “Awfully dangerous though, so I’d recommend doing it at a distance. Or getting some damn good armor.”

Dax laughed a little at the woman's last comment, "Well, hopefully I won't be on the speeder that I'm trying to blow up." The man could just imagine himself rupturing the fuselage of some speeder already, the heat singeing his skin. Another smile graced his face.

"Although, armor would be a good idea. Probably woulda kept me from turning into bantha on a stick." he laughed a little more.
