The Blind Follow the Blind

(Sorry on delay)

Caelag couldn't even spare a breath for relief as the Wookie moved away from her, such a noise would only draw him back. Instead, she motioned for [member="Elpsis Elaris"] to continue her path towards her. Even blind they could see shape, and that meant the subtle motion would still pick up. At least enough that she could turn to face the direction they still needed to move. Assuming Elpsis made it there with ease, they just had one more major hurdle to pass before they were at a perfect site to set up an explosive.

That hurdle being two more Devaronians sitting about, smoking deathsticks as they guarded the alley between crates they needed. Fortunately, Caelag had noticed how effective elpsis's tactic had been with the wookie, and her understanding of the Force was rather instinctive. So, having 'seen' how the force moved to pull on an object, she searched for something small to draw them away. There weren't any crates she could easily pull down, but she did notice one seemed somewhat, loose in its lock. She took a breath and gently pulled at it, until it opened enough to spill some of its contents to the ground. This actually did catch one of their attention, and he patted his buddy on the back to get his help stopping the leak.

She took the opportunity to move across, her cloak being the last remnant in view for the briefest second before she knelt down. Now, how close was Elpsis?

The Wookiee guard was distracted, having marched off to investigate the source of the disturbance. For just a moment, the huge furry was out of the way. Thanks to Caelag, the two Devaronians had focused their attention elsewhere. Even blind, Elpsis understood the Miraluka's signal. For they could still perceive shape. There was a gap in the perimeter security, and she quickly slipped through. She crouched and drew upon the Force to quieten her steps, but there was always one of the guards might hear her anyway. It was a chance she took.

The landing pad was up ahead. Periodically, it was illuminated by a bright light that flashed from the watchtower. Timing her steps, Elpsis moved forward, ducking for cover behind containers. Her partner in crime received a telepathic brush against her mind. It would serve as confirmation as Elpsis reached the edge of the pad, and set to work.

Mentally, she counted down the seconds as she removed the charges from her rucksack. By her estimation, she should have just about enough time to set the charges and get away before the huge freighter crammed full of spice arrived. Little did she know that there would be another transport accompanying. One that was crammed full of human chattel.

Caelag nodded once, even if [member="Elpsis Elaris"] was too busy to notice the confirmation, and set about moving closer to some of the chatting guards. Without much to do aside from keep everyone away from her partner, she figured it was useful to see what she could overhear. The first pair she encountered she, well, she couldn't really pick up on what they were talking about. They were too far from her and were speaking too quietly. She continued to move on, counting in her head for about how long the charges should be taking to to set. By the time she reached a couple of talkative guards she could actually overhear, the charges were a little over half way set, no doubt. Perks of having lived with an explosives expert.

Caelag listened to the duo talk, for the longest time, about the best way to prepare meat, a dull subject to spend her time listening to, and some professional ball game, a slightly less dull subject. She was about to leave them, having noticed that Elpsis seemed finished setting her charges, when she overheard the duo talking about the freighter transports arriving. Transports, with an s, plural, two or more. If Caelag had eyes, they'd be widening as she gave off a distinct sensation of worry that the seer would be picking up on almost immediately. Caelag slipped back from the duo and turned her head to where Elpsis would soon arrive from, holding up two fingers and one pointing at the landing pad. Hoping she'd get the message.

"Scuttlebutt says they're bringing in Togruta. I wouldn't mind being alone with one those beauties for an hour or so," one of the Devaronian guards spoke in a low, leecherous voice.

"Dream on, mate. The Boss would cut your balls off and make you swallow 'em. She doesn't like it when someone touches the merchandise. Bigwigs will be here any moment to pick up the shipment."

"A man can dream. 'sides, the suits can't watch the goods day in, day out, can they? Gonna be a while till the auction."

"It's your bits, man."

Elpsis was too far away to eavesdrop upon this illuminating dialogue. Having found a safe spot at the landing pad, out of view of the searchlights, she'd been placing the charges. She'd been absorbed in her task, but out of the corner of her ethereal eyes, made out the signal Caelag was giving her. A look of puzzlement crossed her features. If she understood her companion correctly, she was trying to alert her to the fact that more than one transport was on the way.

Her intel had said there would be only one. These thoughts were cut short when she heard the roar of engines. She was running low on time. Having placed the charges, she moved back towards cover. She only needed to reach a safe distance, then press the button and cause a big bang. But then she winced slightly, when she perceived the presence of a multitude of people on the ships approaching from the distance. Too many for a simple drug shipment. Reaching out, she perceived the emotions bleeding from them.

Fear, terror, pain...one of them was not a drug shipment. More noise filled the air, as a speeder packed with mafia lieutenants approached from the other side, evidently there to welcome the shipment. She eyed the detonator in her hand. It had seemed so easy until now. I think...they got slaves. We gotta change the plan, her telepathic transmission was frantic. Perhaps it made her indecisive, but she would not sacrifice innocent life.
